This can't go on…I must see her again…I cannot live like this! Without knowing if I'm ever going to find my cure…or that it even exists!…I can't…

Thoughts echoed through his mind.  He stepped inside the white walls of Seyruun and headed for the palace.

I have to see her again…

He strode somewhat confidently towards his destiny.  He was sure she loved him back…

Why wouldn't she?  She loved me all those years ago, so why not now?

He stopped in his tracks and looked up.

There she is!  I can't believe my luck!

He sprinted toward the princess of Seyruun with the speed that only love can grant.  He was going to tell her.  He was going to be happy.  Or so he thought…

"AMELIA!" he shouted with joy, still sprinting and only about 15 meters away.

"Huh?" she turned around abruptly and saw a figure running towards her. As he came closer, she began to recognize him. "Mr. Zelgadis??"

He slowed down after he got closer, gasping for breath. "Amelia!*gasp* How good *wheez* to see you! You *gasp* look great!"

"Uh…thanks…s-so do you Mr. Zelgadis…how have you been?"  She asked with a weird look on her face.

"I've been okay." He replied, "Can I talk to you?"  he looked around.  He saw the usual amount of security surrounding the princess. "…Alone?"

Amelia nodded and dismissed the guards.

"Amelia…I came back to tell you…Oh, before I forget!" He fished around in one of his pockets and pulled out her bracelet, "Here, I believe this is yours…" He handed it to her.

"Mr. Zelgadis…you kept this after all this time?  Oh Mr.Zelgadis…"

"You don't need to call me that you know.  And that's not the only reason I'm here…" he began shakily.  "I also came here to tell you…I…I…I love you, Amelia.  I've loved you all this time."

Amelia just stared at him.  No…no…please, you didn't just say that… "What?"

"I said I love you, Amelia."

"You…You…this can't be happening…HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT ME TO REACT TO THAT?!?" she fumed.

Zelgadis was taken aback, he hadn't been expecting this reaction of all things.

"AFTER FOUR YEARS! FOUR YEARS!  You come back here after four years, and you expect me to say 'I love you too'??? Zel, you can't possibly think that I still do!  I admit, I did love you, but after a year of no hearing from you, I gave up! I began a life…I'm married, Zel, and I'm happy."

He stared at her in awe.  He couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"I have to go now."  She stated simply, "You're too late."

And with that, she walked away, accompanied by the guards, leaving an extremely confused and hurt chimera alone in the middle of the street.

I'm…too…late…
