no tunnel; the opposite in fact;
a bird's haphazard flight and
the joy of feeling the air
caress and buoy you up, up
to the sky and the sun
and the clean cool wind
spiraling to the clouds --
- the shift of reality
that is no reality at all -
the fight for air for life for all
as wretched green seaweed
entangles, entraps your fins
and drags you down then
the chilling bite of
deadly human steel --
- spiral of waters and blood
flashes of death and life
in the same instant –
dust and blood and screams
hang in the air as you
stand in rubble and call,
grit lodging in your throat,
mother, mother!
but no one answers,
and no one ever will --
- human nature, half chaos,
half light, and those between -
pursuit, mechanical and
constantly behind you, dogging
you as wolves do prey; lagging,
you turn the corner and stop horrified
- the golems found you! – raise your
warrior's blade futilely as the metal
arms swings…and then a head thumps
on the ground, eyes glazed and held
unseeing for eternity --
- fearangergriefpityhorrorregret
the spectrum of emotion -
beat your golden wings
eternity holds forth
in this space, for you
have been given your true form
and you have accepted god
he who is nothing and all
a light that few can see
but who holds deep in the hearts
of those who can believe
around you, through you,
through all you were,
all you are,
all you can be…
- and heaven holds you close –

A/N: Okay, okay. Let me explain.
This doesn't exactly belong in the 'Bible' section, but it was the most ideal, since it involved God, sort of.
In order, the poem describes a bird's flight, a shark or whale being chased by hunters, the aftermath of the World Trade Center incident, the death of a warrior…and then heaven, I suppose.
Based on a dream which I'm glad I had.
