Author's note: Inspired by the fanfiction story, "What's It Been?" by straightlycurved. Please read "What's It Been?" before reading my story. What if the entire BAU team, not just JJ and Reid found romance that night after the Miami murder case in the episode, "In Heat?"
JJ was passionately kissing Reid in the parking lot at the police station in front of Detective Will LaMontagne Jr. Reid started kissing JJ back. Will got into his car and drove away from the police station. Morgan, Prentiss and Hotch left Reid and JJ outside in the parking lot kissing each other. They joined Rossi inside the police station. Morgan took a phone photo of JJ and Reid kissing each other and he sent it to Garcia with a text saying, "Check this out, Baby Girl." Garcia looked at the phone photo while she was leaving Quantico with Kevin Lynch for the night. Garcia texted back to Morgan, "OH, MY GOD!" Morgan started laughing.
"What's so funny, Morgan?" asked Rossi.
"Reid just got a big juicy kiss from JJ," smiled Morgan.
"JJ?" said Rossi. "I thought that Will LaMontagne was her boyfriend."
"So did I," said Prentiss. "I saw LaMontagne leaving the station and I told JJ to go for him. But, she went over to Reid instead. JJ took Reid outside to the parking lot with her and she kissed Reid right in front of Will."
Rossi smiled while Morgan laughed.
"Let's call it a night," said Hotch. "We'll regroup at the BAU jet at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning."
"Well then," said Rossi. "I'm going out to a local jazz club I know of to watch a lounge singer friend of mine sing tonight. Aaron, would you like to be my wingman?"
"Not tonight, Dave," said Hotch. "I think I'll just turn in early tonight. Good night, guys."
"Suit yourself," said Rossi. "I'll see you three in the morning."
"Good night," said Prentiss.
Hotch and Rossi walked out of the police station.
"Man," said Morgan. "Why didn't Rossi ask either one of us out to that jazz club?"
"I think he was trying to take Hotch's mind off of recently divorcing Haley," said Prentiss. "I think I'm going to turn in early, too."
"Suit yourself," said Morgan.
"Good night, Morgan," said Prentiss.
"Good night, Prentiss," said Morgan.
Prentiss walked out of the police station. Detective Lopez walked over to Morgan.
"Detective," said Morgan.
"Tina," smiled Detective Lopez. "My shift is over for tonight, Derek."
"And, you think that you can show me a good time in South Beach tonight...Tina?" asked Morgan.
"Come with me, papi," smiled Detective Lopez. "I'll show you a really good time tonight."
Morgan smiled as he took Detective Lopez's hand and she led him out of the police station.
JJ and Reid got into an SUV and drove back to their hotel building. They both entered Reid's hotel room still kissing each other. JJ closed the door behind them.
"Mmm, JJ, wait, wait," said Reid uncomfortably. "Please wait a minute. Please."
"Mmm, no, no," said JJ. "I want to be with you, Spence. Don't you want to be with me?"
"Oh, I want to be with you, JJ," answered Reid. "Really I do. More than you will ever know. But, what about Will? I...don't want him breaking in here and giving me a black eye for being 'the other man' with his girlfriend..."
"Spence," smiled JJ. "I'm not his girlfriend anymore. We broke up last night."
"JJ," nervously said Reid. "I...I don't want to be the reason for your breaking up with him."
"Oh, you're way too late for that," chuckled JJ. "I broke up with Will because I realized I'm not in love with him. I'm in love with you."
"Re...really?" asked Reid.
"Really," said JJ. "I've been daydreaming about you non-stop this entire case. Even while I was alone talking with Will I couldn't get you out of my mind. I've been wanting to be with you for a long, long time now. I love you, Spence."
"I love you, too, JJ," said Reid.
"Then let me take care of you," smiled JJ.
"O...okay," nervously said Reid. "But, there's one more thing that I think you should know. I've...never done this before."
"Never?" asked JJ. "What about Lila Archer? Morgan said you two were practically doing it in a swimming pool one night."
"No," said Reid. "That was a rumor Morgan just made up. Lila and I kissed in the swimming pool, but we never went any further. I...I'm still a virgin. You...would be my very first lover, JJ."
JJ was honored to hear that and she gently kissed Reid's lips.
"Thank you for telling me," smiled JJ. "Because you were my very first love, Spence. Don't worry. I'll be gentle."
JJ and Reid kissed each other again and they gently dropped down on Reid's bed so they could make love.
In Hotch's hotel room, Hotch was on the phone saying goodnight to his son, Jack back in DC.
"I love you, buddy," said Hotch.
"I wub you, too, daddy," smiled Jack.
"Good night," said Hotch. "Give the phone back to your aunt. - Jessica? Thank you."
"You're welcome," said Jessica. "Good night, Aaron."
"Good night," said Hotch while he hung up his cell phone.
Hotch thought about finishing up his end of case paperwork that night. But, because he was depressed from recently divorcing Haley, Hotch decided instead to get himself a bottle of alcohol from the mini-fridge. Ever since Hotch walked into an empty house after coming home from the Milwaukee case, he hadn't really found a reason to smile outside of his brief phone calls or visits to Jack for the last eight months. There was a knock on the door. Hotch answered and it was Prentiss.
"Prentiss," said Hotch. "Is anything wrong?"
"No," answered Prentiss. "I just couldn't sleep tonight. May I come in?"
Hotch moved aside to let Prentiss walk into his hotel room. Hotch closed the door and Prentiss sat down at the table by the mini-fridge.
"You told me once that you didn't want me asking you personal questions in front of the rest of the team," recalled Prentiss. "So, since we're not with the rest of the team right now, are you all right?"
"Not really," answered Hotch. "I just called Jack tonight to say, 'Good night' to him."
"And...Haley wouldn't let you talk to Jack?" asked Prentiss.
"No, I got to talk to Jack," answered Hotch. "Haley's sister, Jessica is taking care of Jack tonight."
"Why?" asked Prentiss. "Where's Haley tonight?"
Hotch drank the alcohol from the bottle.
"Jessica said that Haley...went out on a date with another man tonight," answered Hotch.
"...Oh," said Prentiss. "I'm sorry. This must be hurting you so much."
Hotch lowered his head and he put his hands over his face. He was brokenhearted.
"Hotch," said Prentiss. "There is a bright side to this."
"What bright side?" asked Hotch.
Prentiss grabbed herself a bottle of alcohol from the mini-fridge.
"Haley has chosen to move on," explained Prentiss. "Just like JJ has chosen to move on tonight from Will to Reid. And, we both know that after everything Reid went through with the Hankel case and Gideon and...almost both of us leaving him, our resident genius deserves to have some happiness in his life. Your bright side is now, you can move on, too. I know that it won't be easy, but you deserve some happiness in your life, too, Hotch."
Hotch grabbed himself another bottle of alcohol from the mini-fridge.
"Well, then," said Hotch. "Here's to moving on."
"To moving on," repeated Prentiss.
Hotch and Prentiss clinked their bottles together and they both drank to the toast. Prentiss put her hand on Hotch's hand. She had a secret crush on Hotch ever since he worked for her mom, Ambassador Elizabeth Prentiss in the mid 1990's. But, because Hotch was dating and then married to Haley Brooks, Prentiss never made a move on Hotch. But, now that Hotch wasn't married anymore, Prentiss decided to follow JJ's example and she quickly kissed Hotch on the lips. Hotch pulled back.
"...What?" asked Hotch.
"I'm sorry," panicked Prentiss while getting up. "I...I'll just go. This kiss never happened."
Prentiss opened the door to leave but Hotch closed the door again and he kissed Prentiss on the lips. Prentiss kissed him back passionately. Hotch picked Prentiss up and carried her over to his bed so they could make love.
Will LaMontagne Jr. was in a local bar drinking his sorrows away from losing JJ to Reid. He couldn't get himself a flight back to New Orleans until morning. A young blonde woman sat down next to Will.
"Hey," said the blonde. "You look like you've just lost your best friend. I'm..."
"Lila Archer?" said Will.
"Yes," smiled Lila.
"What are you doin' away from Hollywood?" asked Will.
"I've been doing a photoshoot here in Miami," answered Lila. "And, your name is...?"
"Detective William LaMontagne Junior," said Will. "New Orleans police department."
"New Orleans?" asked Lila. "Well, what brings you to Miami, Detective? Meeting your girlfriend?"
"Not anymore," said Will. "She just dumped me for her coworker in the FBI. I'm here because my best friend and partner, Charlie was killed here."
"I'm sorry to hear that," said Lila. "Her FBI coworker, huh? I fell for somebody who worked for the FBI a couple of years ago."
"Are you still seein' him now?" asked Will.
"No," answered Lila. "He was sweet, smart and super shy and he even saved my life from a stalker. But, he didn't know how to loosen up and have fun. He was always on the phone talking with his coworkers. He was serious 24/7."
"I know exactly what you mean about the FBI bein' serious," said Will. "My FBI girlfriend was always serious about her job 24/7. She, too, was always talkin' to her coworkers on the phone. She was ashamed to even tell her coworkers that I was her boyfriend. And, she always had her nose in a case file. It took me four months to get her to lighten up and put down her files and have a little fun."
"I know, right?" said Lila. "It's like FBI should stand for, 'Fun Being Impossible!'"
Will and Lila both laughed.
"I kissed my FBI man in a swimming pool trying to get him to loosen up and have some fun," said Lila. "But, he just wasn't into me like I was into him."
"Not into you?" asked Will. "A guy would have to be blind to not be into a beautiful woman like you."
Will's compliment turned Lila on. Lila put her hand on Will's hand.
"Thank you, Will," grinned Lila.
Will ordered Lila a drink and they continued talking to each other. Neither one of them noticed that there was a photographer at the far end of the bar discreetly taking pictures of the two of them.
At a Miami jazz club, Rossi was listening to his lounge singer friend, Karen singing on stage. He tried secretly ordering her a bottle of champagne. But, Karen walked right over to Rossi when she took five from singing to thank him for giving her the champagne. She sat down at his table and they both caught up with each other during her break time.
The following morning at 7:30 am in Reid's hotel room, JJ and Reid were kissing each other goodbye.
"Mmm, I love you, Spence," smiled JJ.
"Mmm, I love you, too, Jennifer," smiled Reid. "Thank you for giving me my very first time last night."
"Thank you," smiled JJ. "All of my dreams came true last night. I'll see you aboard the jet, lover."
JJ left Reid's hotel room grinning in full afterglow and she returned to her own hotel room to shower and change.
In Morgan's hotel room, Morgan and Detective Lopez were kissing each other goodbye.
"Mmm, don't go yet, Tina," smiled Morgan.
"Mmmm, I have to, Derek," smiled Detective Lopez. "I don't want to see your team off wearing the same clothes I wore yesterday. I'll see you at your private jet, papi!"
Detective Lopez finished redressing herself and she left Morgan's hotel room to go home to shower and change.
In Hotch's hotel room, Hotch and Prentiss were kissing each other goodbye.
"Mmm, Emily, thank you," smiled Hotch.
"Mmmm, thank you," smiled Prentiss. "You've made all of my dreams come true last night. I'll see you at the airstrip, Aaron."
Prentiss returned to her own hotel room to shower and change while grinning in full afterglow.
Rossi kissed his lounge singer friend, Karen goodbye before she left his hotel room to go home and rest before going in to her next evening singing event at the club.
Around 10 am at the airstrip, Detective Lopez shook hands with JJ, Reid, Prentiss, Rossi and Hotch while thanking them all for helping her solve her murder case. When she shook hands with Morgan, she whispered in his ear, "Call me the next time you visit South Beach, papi!" Morgan laughed.
During the flight back to DC, JJ was looking at some new case files at the card table seat while sitting next to Reid, who was speed reading a book. Nobody noticed that the new lovers were holding and stroking each other's hands under the table. Hotch was writing his end of case report. Rossi was sitting next to Hotch writing a new book chapter. Prentiss was sitting across from Hotch and Rossi trying to relax at the window seat next to Morgan, who was looking at a magazine he had picked up before boarding the jet.
"Whoa," said Morgan.
"What is it, Derek?" asked Rossi.
"This magazine cover photo from Joe Martinez," answered Morgan. "The headline says, 'Lila Archer's New Boyfriend?'"
"Lila Archer?" whispered Reid and JJ while looking at each other.
"An old friend of yours?" smirked Prentiss.
"She's not my friend, she's Reid's friend," answered Morgan. "Two years ago in Hollywood, Reid protected Lila from a stalker who was killing people around her. Reid arrested the stalker and saved Lila's life. And when we returned to DC, Martinez put up a similar magazine cover headline with a picture of Lila kissing Reid on it."
"Well, what's bothering you about it this time, Morgan?" asked Hotch.
"Guys," said Morgan. "Look at the man who Lila is kissing in this photo."
Morgan showed the cover photo to Hotch, Rossi and Prentiss.
"No way," said Prentiss.
"Is that...?" asked Rossi.
"Detective LaMontagne," said Hotch.
"What?!" said JJ and Reid.
"It's Will," said Morgan.
"Will is kissing Lila Archer," said Prentiss.
Morgan showed Reid and JJ the cover photo. Will and Lila were kissing each other in the cover photo in front of Will's hotel room. Apparently, Will was moving on from JJ while Lila was moving on from Reid. JJ suddenly broke out laughing. Reid, Hotch and Rossi smiled. Prentiss and Morgan started laughing along with JJ.
