Note: Avatar: The Last Airbender is a Nickelodeon animated show that was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

It didn't take long for Aang to start liking Katara. She was one of the kindest and most helpful people that he had ever met. She gave Aang lots of advice, comfort and happiness. It also didn't take long for Katara to start caring about Aang. Since Katara's brother, Sokka, often got on Katara's nerves, Aang was the one person that Katara felt she could confide in. Aang and Katara had a close connection to all of their friends, but nothing compared to the connection that they had with each other.

At first, it seemed like Aang and Katara were just good friends. As time went on, they seemed like the best of friends. However, it eventually became clear that Aang had a crush on Katara. Aang had never had such strong feelings for someone, so he often acted nervous and shy. However, the feelings of his heart weren't that hard to figure out. Aang cared about Katara more than anyone that he had ever met. As for Katara, her feelings were not as easy to figure out. Katara was a loving, caring person, but she often kept her true feelings from coming out. Since she was the most mature member of the group, Katara felt like it was her responsibility to be the mature, serious one. She occasionally made her true feelings clear, but there were plenty of times where her feelings were hidden from others.

Eight years had passed since the day that Aang had met Katara. Since then, Aang and Katara's relationship had developed. The two had exchanged a couple of kisses. By that point, it was pretty clear that Katara had grown a crush on Aang. Despite that, Katara didn't say she was Aang's girlfriend. She tried to keep up the idea that she was just Aang's best friend. However, Sokka, Toph and Zuko weren't buying it. They knew that Katara had stronger feelings for Aang than she would care to admit.

One day, Aang and Katara were having breakfast at Iroh's tea place. The two of them had a healthy breakfast and plenty of tea. Aang and Katara shared stories and jokes with one another. They even started holding hands.

Aang and Katara were hoping that they could have a pleasant morning, but things took a turn when Zuko, Sokka and Toph entered the tea shop. Aang and Katara hadn't told their friends where they were going, so they were surprised to see them.

Iroh had a warm smile on his face, while walking up to Zuko and his friends and saying, "Good morning. As always, it's a pleasure to see you all. Sit down and relax, while I get you all some tea."

Zuko replied, "Thank you, Uncle Iroh."

Katara stopped holding Aang's hand. Aang was a bit disappointed about that, but he understood why Katara did so. Katara tried to appear calm and casual, while looking at her brother and friends and saying, "Hi, guys. What are you doing here?"

Sokka explained, "We were wondering where you and Aang were. By the time I got up, you were gone."

Katara fiddled with a piece of her own hair, while saying, "I'm sorry about that. You see, Aang and I got up early, so we decided to get breakfast."

Toph said, "In other words, you and Aang are on a date."

Katara angrily blushed and replied, "We are not on a date!"

Zuko looked at Katara, while saying, "You've got to be kidding me." Zuko sat next to Katara, while Toph and Sokka sat by Aang.

Sokka nudged Aang and asked, "Don't you think it's time that you admit the truth?"

Aang tried to look innocent, while asking, "What are you talking about?"

Sokka said, "It's obvious that you are dating my sister, so why don't you just admit it? You should know that I wouldn't disapprove of your relationship."

Aang replied, "I appreciate that, but Katara and I -" Aang tried to finish what he was saying, but he struggled to come up with the right words. He fiddled with his cup of tea, while looking at Katara and asking, "What am I supposed to say?"

Katara took a deep breath and said, "Aang and I are very close. We share a very special connection that means the world to me. I love him." She blushed and said, "However, he and I are not dating."

Zuko asked, "Are you actually claiming that Aang isn't your boyfriend?"

Katara answered, "Yes I am."

Toph looked at Katara, while asking, "Why are you lying?"

Katara stubbornly replied, "I'm not lying!"

Toph said, "I can tell when people are lying. You are lying harder than ever."

Katara was feeling flustered, so she asked, "Can we change the subject?"

Zuko said, "We'd be happy to. However, before we do that, we need you to do one thing."

Katara asked, "What's that?"

Zuko answered, "Admit that you're Aang's girlfriend."

Katara angrily replied, "I'm not Aang's girlfriend!" Aang started looking sad, so Katara started feeling bad. She said, "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just upset at the others for not minding their own business."

Aang responded, "I understand."

A moment later, Iroh walked by and put down a tray of cups of tea. He smiled and said, "I hope that you all enjoy the tea."

Zuko replied, "Thank you."

Sokka started playing with his cup of tea. He accidentally dropped the cup to the ground and said, "I'm sorry about that."

Iroh calmly replied, "Don't worry about it. I'll get a broom and clean it up."

Katara gave Sokka a disapproving look, while saying, "You need to be more careful."

Sokka replied, "If anybody needs to be more careful, it's you."

Katara asked, "What are you talking about?"

Sokka said, "If you keep denying that you're Aang's girlfriend, you might lose Aang in the process."

Katara replied, "Lose him? I could never lose him."

Iroh returned with a broom and started sweeping up the mess, while asking, "Is everything okay?"

Katara answered, "Yes, it is."

Sokka replied, "That's not true."

Zuko looked at Iroh, while saying, "Katara's in denial about being in a relationship with Aang."

Iroh replied, "I see. Denial is not a healthy thing to do. If you deny how you really feel, you deny yourself the chance at achieving the highest level of happiness."

Sokka said, "My highest level of happiness requires another cup of tea." He grabbed Zuko's cup of tea and tried to drink it, but he accidentally dropped it. The cup shattered on the floor. Sokka nervously smiled and said, "I'm sorry about that."

Iroh said, "I'll clean up the mess before anybody gets hurt by the broken pieces of glass."

Zuko angrily stared at Sokka, while saying, "You're being a real klutz."

Sokka stuck out his hands, while replying, "You know what? That's true. I admit that I'm a klutz. Admitting the truth is an essential part of life. It's too bad that Katara won't admit the truth."

Katara responded, "I have nothing to admit."

Toph smiled with confidence, while saying, "I know how to get Katara to cough up the truth." She turned her attention to Aang, while asking, "Would you like to go on a date with me?" Everyone gasped.

Aang looked baffled, while saying, "Toph, what are you talking about?"

Toph casually said, "Since Katara isn't your girlfriend, that means that you're free. This evening, I feel like having dinner at a nice place. You should accompany me."

Aang felt confused about what he was supposed to say. He knew that he had feelings for Katara, so agreeing to go on a date with Toph didn't seem like the best idea. After an uncomfortable moment of silence, he said, "Getting dinner sounds like a fine thing for two good friends to do."

Toph replied, "So, it's a date?"

Aang nervously said, "It's not a date. We'll just have a nice celebration of friendship."

Zuko replied, "Celebration of friendship? Talk about boring."

Toph put her arm around Aang, while saying, "That settles things."

Aang replied, "Does it? I still don't fully understand what's going on?"

Toph said, "Tonight, you and I will go on a date."

Katara shyly said, "Toph, I'm not sure that's the best idea."

Toph replied, "Why do you think that? Are you jealous?"

Katara said, "Well, Aang and I have a special relationship that's hard to put a label on."

Toph replied, "You and Aang's relationship would be a lot simpler if you just admitted the truth."

Katara folded her arms and said, "I have admitted everything that I need to."

Toph asked, "Does that mean that you are okay with Aang and I going out on a date?"

Katara froze with fear. What was she supposed to say? Should she let her crush go out with someone else? Should she just confess how she felt? Katara had a few drops of sweat come down her face. She considered opening up about her feelings, but she got too scared. Instead, she said, "Go ahead and go out with Aang, Toph."

Toph replied, "If that's what you want."

Aang looked shocked, while asking, "What's going on?!"

Toph said, "Aang, I'll meet you at the restaurant at six in the evening. It's a fancy restaurant, but I could care less about how I look, so I'll be dressed the same as always. However, if you want to wear a fancy tuxedo, feel free to."

Aang replied, "But I don't even know where the restaurant is."

Toph responded, "Sokka or Zuko will give you directions." Toph got up and started heading out.

Aang looked at Katara, while asking, "What just happened?"

Katara nervously said, "I'm sorry, Aang. You see, I panicked and didn't know what to do."

Aang asked, "What am I supposed to do?"

Katara sighed and said, "Just go on the date with Toph. It'll be fine."

Aang replied, "But I'm not so sure that I want to date Toph. She's a great friend and all, but I've never thought about dating her."

Katara responded, "It's nothing serious. Toph's just playing around." Katara got up and said, "I need to be alone for a while." She started walking to the restroom.

Sokka and Zuko went outside and saw Toph standing around. Sokka stuck his arms in the air, while asking, "What did you do?"

Toph casually answered, "I asked Aang on a date."

Zuko asked, "Why would you do that? Are you trying to stir up trouble?"

Toph smiled and said, "You could say that."

Sokka asked, "Do you actually have feelings for Aang?"

Toph said, "Of course not. All three of us know that Katara loves Aang. I'm just taking Aang on this date, so that Katara will have to admit the obvious truth."

Zuko asked, "Are you sure that's the best idea?"

Toph said, "Eventually, somebody's going to ask out Aang. If I don't do this, Katara might lose Aang to some new girl."

Zuko replied, "I suppose that's true."

Toph said, "Go inside and show Aang how to get to the restaurant. I need to get ready for my fake date." Sokka and Zuko nodded.

An hour later, Aang had left Iroh's tea place and had started getting ready for his evening, but Katara was still in the restroom. By that point, Iroh had finished cleaning up all of Sokka's messes. Iroh knocked on the restroom door and said, "Katara, you've been in there for a little over an hour. Are you okay?"

Katara answered, "Not really."

Iroh had a concerned look on his face, while saying, "I see. You don't need to worry, because I have plenty of types of tea that can help with any health problems that you might be dealing with."

Katara stepped out of the restroom and wiped some tears off of her face. She looked at Iroh, while saying, "I appreciate your offer, but I'm afraid that my problems are more emotional than physical."

Iroh said, "I figured that might be the case. Why don't you pull out a chair? I can give some grandfatherly advice."

Katara replied, "I don't know if I can discuss my feelings."

Iroh said, "Discussing feelings is not always an easy topic, but it's an essential part of life. You can share anything with me. I won't make fun of you."

Katara replied, "I appreciate that. Thank you." She and Iroh sat down at one of the tables.

Iroh asked, "What's going on?"

Katara said, "Toph asked out Aang!"

Iroh replied, "I couldn't help overhearing that when I was cleaning up one of many messes that your brother made. I was quite surprised to hear about that. However, what surprised me the most is that you were okay with it."

Katara responded, "I'm not okay with it!"

Iroh poured Katara a cup of tea and said, "Take a sip. It might give you some feelings of comfort."

Katara took a large sip and replied, "That does taste rather good. However, I still don't feel good."

Iroh said, "If you are not okay with Toph going on a date with Aang, why didn't you do something?"

Katara asked, "What could I do?"

Iroh said, "You could tell Toph that you have feelings for Aang."

Katara replied, "I suppose I could, but that might lead to implications."

Iroh responded, "Implications?"

Katara shyly said, "People might start thinking that I'm Aang's girlfriend."

Iroh replied, "People already think that. Besides, isn't that true?"

Katara said, "No." She paused and said, "Well, Aang and I have a relationship that's hard to put into words."

Iroh replied, "I apologize if I sound too pushy, but I must say that you and Aang are dating. The sooner you admit the truth, the sooner you can feel better."

Katara put her hand over her face, while saying, "I'm too afraid of the truth."

Iroh asked, "Why is that? Doesn't Aang love you?"

Katara said, "He loves me with all his heart."

Iroh asked, "Do you feel the same way about him?"

Katara answered, "Yes."

Iroh replied, "Then why are you afraid? You should be happy. You and Aang have a beautiful relationship. You bring special feelings of happiness to his life. That's nothing to take for granted. Instead of being afraid of your relationship with Aang, you should be thankful for it."

Katara sighed and said, "I suppose I should. However, I might have waited too long. Aang's about to go on a date with somebody else."

Iroh replied, "Then I suggest you go after him."

Katara stood up and said, "I will. Thank you for the tea, Iroh. Most of all, thank you for the talk."

Iroh replied, "It's my pleasure."

Katara went to a nearby clothing store and bought the nicest dress that she could find. It was a dress that looked as bright and blue as the ocean. After changing into the dress, she started hurrying to the restaurant.

A short time later, Katara arrived at the restaurant. She went inside and was about to start looking for Aang, but a snooty waiter walked up to her and asked, "Can I help you?"

Katara said, "I need to find Aang."

The waiter replied, "Aang is here. He and Toph have a reservation. Do you have a reservation?"

Katara answered, "No."

The waiter replied, "Then you can go hit the road."

Katara nervously said, "But this is an emergency."

The waiter replied, "If this was an emergency, you would have gotten a reservation."

Katara grabbed the rude waiter and angrily said, "Have Aang come to me."

The waiter sighed and replied, "As you wish."

A few minutes later, Aang and Toph went into the lobby and met up with Katara. Katara looked at Toph, while saying, "I'm sorry, Toph. I acted like you could date Aang, but I'm afraid that my heart could never allow that."

Toph asked, "Why is that?"

Katara smiled and said, "Because I love him. He's my boyfriend."

Aang replied, "I am?"

Katara said, "If you want to be."

Aang replied, "More than anything." He looked back at Toph, while saying, "I hope that's okay."

Toph replied, "Of course. You were never my type. I just wanted Katara to admit the truth."

Katara said, "Thank you, Toph. You gave me the push I needed to start being more honest."

Toph replied, "You're welcome."

Katara gave Aang a big hug, while saying, "Aang, I'm so sorry for denying my feelings for you."

Aang replied, "I'm just so happy that I'm your boyfriend. Does this mean all the relationship drama is over?"

Katara said, "I think so. I don't want to waste more time denying my feelings for you. I'll always be your girlfriend. How does that sound?"

Aang answered, "Sounds perfect." He smiled and gave Katara a big kiss on the lips. Aang and Katara felt so happy that their relationship finally had an official label. They were a couple.
