It was about three in the afternoon when a blue car stopped in front of an old door with four teenagers inside.
"Emmy, when we agreed to take you wherever you wanted for your birthday, we meant like the movies, a concert, not... this," Sophia said.
"Look, we're here now, but we need to be quick. "If my mom finds out I drove the car outside the city, she's going to kill me," Olive said.
"And what exactly is it that you want from this place anyway?" asked Sydney.
Just some urban exploration, that's all—the Latina replied.
"Since when you're into this?" a shocked Sophia asked.
-Uhm... I saw some videos that looked entertaining.
Her words were cut off as the barred door suddenly opened, allowing them to drive inside the property. They parked the car and walked out.
"What is this place?" Olive asked.
-The place where I'll find what I need. Emmy said, as if in a trance.
"Excuse me?" replied Sophia.
-I mean... a cool place to look around...
The Latina walked to what seemed to be the front door and slid herself between a huge cage that covered the property. The other three teenagers were scared when she managed to open the door and walk inside. Sophia was the first to react, running after her, but the minute she got close, the huge structure began to move, making them scream and Sophia crawl back in fear. A smiling Emmy walked out.
-Found a switch! Come on!
Looking around, the other three girls joined her.
Wow... Who lived here? " -asked Sydney.
—Apparently someone who liked cults and weird stuff, "replied Olive as she looked around the pieces there.
Meanwhile, Emmy and Sophia were in different areas. It was a sort of study room where there were books and papers. The latter noticed that her friend was intently reading from a book.
-Emmy?
-huh?
What are you reading?
It 's just a book...
-Emmy look...
The latina's eyes opened wide when she saw Sophia holding a weird-looking cube.
-Where ' Where did you find it?
Why was it under a cloth on that table?
It's a puzzle...
-huh?
-Like a Rubik's cube... try to make it work...
But as she did, a sharp curved blade sprung, cutting the palm of her hand. She dropped it, scared and in pain. While she looked at the blood on her hand, slowly, Emmy picked up the cube that now had a different shape.
-it works...
-Emmy... I don't feel OK... " Sophia said as her vision blurred.
Meanwhile, Olive and Sydney found the kitchen; it seemed like everyone had left in a hurry; dirty dishes, half-eaten food; suddenly the blonde arrived eating tuna from a can.
-What are you doing?
-I'm hungry! And there's this huge cupboard with lots of canned food. Want me to get you some?
But her words were cut by a piercing scream. They recognized the voice in a second.
-SOPHIA!
In the other room, the brunette was terrified as a hook attached to a chain had gone through her knee.
-Emmy help me...
The Latina closed her eyes...
-sorry...-she replied with a whisper for a voice
In seconds, other chains appeared, and the body of Sophia hung from the ceiling while Emmy mustered unintelligible words.
-Emmy, please... EMMY! It hurts! Please? I love
The latina turned her back and held onto the puzzle as one last piercing scream was heard and the chains pulled in all directions before disappearing and leaving a pool of blood on the floor. Both Sydney and Olive came in. Both were horrified to see blood all over the room. The first one dashed to the Latina.
-Emmy, what happened?
The Latina just glared at her.
-Emmy, where's Sofia? EMMY!-she yelled, shaking the latina
"Oh my God," Olive said, walking back and crashing against the other two teenagers.
Sydney Reynolds was a very brave girl, but what she saw that evening as she turned scared her to a level she didn't even know existed. In front of them, three figures had appeared, their sights cold and fixed on the puzzle Emmy had in her hands...
You have activated the puzzle...
To be continued...
