Chapter 9 cut scene

As the other Alphas sped off Gareth rolled onto his stomach, his head swimming as he did, and crawled towards the young Omega on the floor. Mel sat on her knees, holding her face as blood slowly dribbled down her chin and onto her shirt. Not able to sniffle, every now and then she let out a cough followed by a hiccup as she tried to stop crying.

Not sure what to do, Gareth looked at his friends for help. Jeff held his stomach looking queasy and Paul was picking up the broken bits of equipment. Shaking his head, and regretting it instantly, he quietly asked Mel if she was okay. "Sorry, that's a stupid question. Uh, can you, we have ice, do you need help up?"

With another hiccup Melody stood and followed Gareth into the house, looking at the floor while he silently packaged the ice for her face. He handed it to her, "Here. I'm sorry, this probably wasn't what you planned to happen today."

She smiled and met his eyes, "No. But, hey, I got to hear some of your music…before those assholes showed up."

The four of them sat around the garage recouping until Gareth's mom arrived home from work. Del immediately taking note of the boys' injuries she stopped short when she noticed a girl among them. Quickly she reached out and pulled the younger Omega close, scenting her for any more injuries. Gareth tried to intervene; afraid his mom would scare Mel by being so overbearing the first time they met.

Glaring at her son Del took a swipe at him with her claws, warning him away with a harsh snarl.

"Fuck sake, mom. I didn't do this!" Safely out of his mother's reach, Gareth introduced the two, "Mom, this is Melody from school. Melody, this is my mom Del… The scrubs aren't for show, she actually is a nurse. If you want her to check you over."

"It's okay Mrs. Emerson, I got decked by some jerk. Gareth took care of me."

At the girl's words Del eased her grip and the scowl on her face softened, "I'm sorry, the Omega in me doesn't usually react so strongly to strangers." Letting go of the girl completely she cleared her throat, "Do you want me to take a look at your nose? It might need reset dear."

"Um, sure, then I think, maybe you could drive me home? Talk to my mom?" Melody shifted from foot to foot, not at all wanting to face her parents alone.

With a small smile Del agreed. Looking at her son she asked him what had happened. He cleared his throat and began by telling her about the cops coming by and interrogating the band, "The fucking fascists in this town think Eddie had something to do with that kids death mom." She pursed her lips, not liking his language or his tone but, not disagreeing with him either. She gestured for him to continue. "Mel showed up after they left, she wanted to hear us play so I told her about practice today. Things were going fine, I mean, as well as it can without Eddie but, then those chodes from school showed up."

Del held up a hand to stop him, "Those guys from the basketball team? The ones that ganged up on you guys last summer?" She started to rumble a growl, having seen what those boys were capable of many times before. Cutting her gaze over to Melody she asked, "That's when you were hit? By who?"

Melody nodded as she let out a soft distressed sound, "Jason Carver. He was on Gareth, hitting him and I tried to stop him. He elbowed me in the face."

Holding her hand to her head Del let out a sigh, "We'll take you home, let your parents know what happened, then I'm filing a complaint with the chief. They've gone too far and it needs to stop."

With that she piled the boys and Mel into her car and they headed out.

So…this has been living in my head. It didn't fit in the main story but, I liked it and thought you all might also. :)
