Wheeler/Linka
It's lunch time for Wheeler and Kwame, the two policemen went to a nearby diner to have lunch, Kwami was happily talking about his relationship with his new girlfriend Karen,
When their plate was served, Kwame looked at Wheeler's plate in astonishment, "A grilled chicken sandwich? I thought you'd order anything from the meat family, meatball sandwiches, hot dogs or hamburgers... since Linka won't let you eat meat in the apartment."

Linka was in her bed reading a book about childbirth and motherhood, although it was almost midnight but she liked to stay up to see Wheeler return from his evening shift, which helped her that she took a little nap when she came back from work, and after a few minutes she heard the sound of the door opening, so She put the book aside and looked at the bedroom door, waiting for her lover to come in
"Hey Babe, are you still awake? I thought you were asleep" as he kissed her lips
"I've been waiting for you, Yankee." She puts her arms around his neck
"What are you reading?" He is looking at the book
"It is a book about childbirth, and all the problems that may happen to the mother or the child."
"Don't be pessimistic babe, everything will be fine and there won't be any problems."
"I just like to know what I'm going through, in case something happens suddenly, like at home or in the car, I need to know what to do."
"Well just to let you know, I won't leave you at home alone in your last month, and don't forget I have a squad car, I can cut off all the traffic to get you in the hospital in time."
"Oh I don't know what I would do without you Yankee, though we should expect anything and be prepared." as she pinch his cheek
"Don't worry, Babe, I won't let anything happen to you." He kissed her again on her forehead and started undressing to take a shower.
She looked at him with admiration, suddenly her expression changed, and she placed her hands on her stomach, causing Wheeler to worry." Are you okay, Lynn? Is there something wrong?"
"No, it's all right...but...oh."
"What?... What's there? Do you feel pain?" He walked over to her and sat on the edge of the bed
"I'm not sure, but I think the baby started kicking." She grabbed his hand and placed it on her stomach, to the side where she felt the baby move. "Do you feel it?" she asked Wheeler.
Wheeler was surprised, he felt very light tremors, "I can hardly feel anything, are you sure it's kicking you?"
"Yeah, I can say that... Oh, did you feel that?" She was smiling wide, looking at Wheeler in amazement
"Oh, yes, that was clear." The two lovers' eyes met, and they looked at each other happily with smiles on their faces, they couldn't wait to see their baby with them at their home.
About two months later, Captain David calls Wheeler to his office before his shift ends
"Good evening, captain, you asked to see me" as he knocked on the door
"Yes, Wheeler." He points to the chair across his desk asking Wheeler to sit down. It wasn't easy for the captain to tell Wheeler this news, there was some pause, so the captain decided to make it direct to the point.
"I'm sorry for what I'm going to say, Wheeler… I'm sorry to tell you, that your girlfriend's case was dropped due to insufficient evidence. That's what I got when I spoke to the prosecutor."
There was some silence, Wheeler's eyes filled with pain, he stared at the Captain in astonishment, "No way...This is nonsense, this is unbelievable... Captain, this is not fair."
"Yes, I know, Wheeler, there are a lot of criminals who escaped from justice only because there is no evidence against them, but... from my experience I tell you, a criminal always returns to the scene of the crime, one day, we will catch him red-handed."

"Wheeler, you know, and I know that we can't convict anyone just because of suspicion."

"I'm thinking to take maternity leave at the beginning of my eighth month, I want to rest, I want to sleep all the time, I'm very tired Yankee, so I decided to buy all my and the baby's needs from now."

"I haven't even finished half of it, Yankee," she takes it from him, laughing

"Wheeler my breasts will be full of milk, and if the baby doesn't drink the meal in time, they will leak out and stain my clothes."

"Oh Lin, that's so cute...I can't wait to see him or her play with them." He took the box from her hand and sat her on the edge of the bed , looked her in the eyes "Lin, I'm sorry, there's a little unpleasant news, but rest assured, I'll always be near you, I love you I love our baby, and I will always support you no matter what."
"What's the matter, Wheeler?" Linka said worriedly
"We lost the case due to insufficient evidence, so…. Greg will not be sued." He said sadly, in a broken voice
"Oh." Linka put her hand over her mouth looking at Wheeler, slowly her eyes filled with tears, and Wheeler hugged her to his chest, and she burst into tears. Wheeler's heart was burning, breaking into a million pieces as he saw his girl crying in his arms and he couldn't do anything about it.
