meeting while handing out candy

Theo couldn't believe that his mum was making him stay home and hand candy on Halloween. Sure, he had come back home after curfew, but Theo thought his mum was being unreasonable.

Thankfully, none of his friends came to his house, but it's probably because they're all at Blaise's party—a party that he isn't going to because he was grounded. Theo wasn't happy that Halloween.

The sound of the doorbell ringing took him away from his depressed thoughts, and groaning, Theo stood up from the couch and walked towards the door, grabbing the bowl of candies.

"Trick or treat!" a little boy yelled when he opened the door, and Theo had to smile at him. "I did it, 'Mione!"

"You sure did, Teddy," a girl replied and looked at Theo, smiling at him. "Hey, Theo. Didn't expect to see you here. Although, why wouldn't you be in your house is just outrageous, isn't it? I'll stop talking now."

Hermione Granger was right in front of him, and Theo didn't know what to say. He had a crush on her for the last three months, but he never thought of doing anything about it; they didn't run in the same circle of friends, and Theo had an inkling Hermione didn't like him very much.

"Hey, Hermione," Theo said softly, smiling at her. "I thought you were going to Blaise's party, instead of trick or treating."

She blushed and Theo thought it was the most adorable thing in the world. "I wasn't in the mood for a party, and Mr Lupin asked if I could take Teddy out, and I thought 'why not?'. And here I am."

Theo will have to buy a nice gift for his mum, if it meant he was able to hold a conversation with his crush.

"'Mione is the bestest! She's going to take me to get all the candy I can eat," Teddy pipped, breaking the staring contest between the two teens. "Can I have some candy now, please?"

"Of course you can!" Theo said, putting some candy on Teddy's pumpkin bucket. "There you go, buddy."

"Thank you!" Teddy beamed at Theo, and he smiled back. "Time to go to the next house, 'Mione."

Hermione bite her lip, giving Theo a look he couldn't decipher, before nodding at Teddy. "Sure buddy, let's go. Bye, Theo, see you around."

Theo watched the duo walking away and before he could think what he was doing, he put the bowl of candy on a side table, before running towards Hermione.

"Hey, Hermione?" he called, and waited until she turned to him. "Do you think you want to go to the movies with me next week? I'm kinda grounded at the moment, but next week I'm free."

She looked at him, not giving him an answer and Theo started to think she was going to turn him down. Before he could say anything, Teddy came to his rescue.

"'Mione loves the movies! And she said you were cute," Teddy said, with a scrunched nose, and Hermione blushed. "I don't understand why she said it."

"Teddy!" Hermione groaned, mortified and Theo had to stop a laugh coming. "I'm sorry, I don't know why he would say something like that, kids repeat everything and—"

"Friday, at seven?" Theo asked, interrupting her rambling.

"Yes, it's a date," Hermione said, before rambling again, "I mean, if you want to be a date, or not, I don't really know."

"It's a date," Theo said softly, quickly kissing her cheek before he lost his courage. "See you Monday at school."

Theo went back to his house, with a swag on his walking. It looked like this Halloween was going pretty great, after all.
