An alarm blared in a room. A hand slid out from under the covers to make the alarm stop. As a yawn erupted from the covers, a man pulled the covers off and sat in bed. This man was Monkey D. Luffy. He yawned as he looked at the clock. "6am, better get ready for the day" the young man left his bed and headed to the shower. After a quick one, he began to get dressed in his usual wardrobe. Being the captain of the local fire fighters didn't offer much for a uniform, just his black shirt, dark blue pants, and his boots. As he went to the kitchen to make breakfast and lunch. He was finishing up breakfast and packing lunch for two when he looked at the clock. He walked to another room in the house. In here was a room decorated to look like it was for a young girl. Luffy smiled as he saw his daughter, Tama, asleep. He looked and saw it was almost a quarter to 7 and decided to wake her up.
"Wake up Tama, time for you to go to school." The little girl frowned as she pulled the cover over her head.
"Five more minutes Daddy" she grumbled at her dad's voice. Luffy chuckled at his daughter's antics, reminding him of himself when he was younger.
"Come on Tama, its almost time for school. I made your favorite pancakes." Luffy said in a sing-song voice. Hearing about her favorite strawberry pancakes, she got up and quickly went to get ready. Luffy laughed at how similar he and Tama were. A couple minutes later, she was ready and, in the kitchen, devouring her pancakes. Luffy had an apron that said "World's best dad. World's 3rd best cook" on it. A gift from Tama with the help of her Uncle Sanji of course. He sat down and started to eat his share. Both father and daughter emptying their plates in a matter of minutes. Tama happily rubbed her stomach.
"They were delicious Daddy!" she said with a smile.
"Guess those lessons with Sanji are paying off! Shishishi" he laughed. Tama couldn't help but giggle at her father's antics. "Well let's go then, don't wanna be late now do we?" Both father and daughter left their seats and cleaned their dishes as fast as they could and headed out. Luffy grabbed his keys and walked out with Tama. Making sure she had her backpack and lunch as well. She had her lunchbox from her favorite anime she liked to watch called Magical Girl Kunoichi Shinobu. About a woman who went and fought the evil Kaido and his Beast army using magic and ninja skills. Her daughter loved it so much, she even told him she wanted to be a kunoichi when she grew up. Luffy laughed and ruffled her hair when she told him that. "Of course, you can Tama! You can be anything you want as long as you have the drive for it!" ⁹
They headed to Luffy's car that Tama had added a sun to the front of it. Or maybe it was a lion? A Sun Lion? Either way, Luffy and Tama affectionately called it Sunny. As he got her in the back seat, Luffy was getting ready in the front seat. They soon drove off as they headed to Tama's school.
Meanwhile, earlier in another part of town
Zoro wasn't a morning person, but he learned he had to be, especially when he had a daughter to raise. He woke up as usual and headed to get ready for the day. As he was brushing his teeth, he remembered that today was his day at the fire station today. Normally he would be readying for giving lessons at his kendo dojo, but today was the day he helped in his other part time job. Sometimes running a dojo didn't pay the bills, but he was hoping soon to have more students after he became more famous taking on dojo owners. He woke up and started putting waffles in the toaster before going to the room of his daughter. He approached her room and saw her asleep under the covers.
"Come on Toko, wake up. Time for school today" the green haired man said. He didn't see a reaction from Toko and decided to shake her awake. "Toko, wake up or we'll be late!". Suddenly he felt something on his back and a loud "Boo". He jumped up and yelped a bit but relaxed when he heard his daughter laughing.
"Hahaha I gotcha Papa, you should have seen your face" the girl laughed. Zoro grumbled about his daughter being too much of a jokester.
"Yeah, you got me, now come on let's go and get some breakfast before we go" Toko giggled as she was already ready for school and headed to the kitchen. Zoro wasn't exactly a good cook, but he managed to make healthy food for himself and his daughter. 'Gotta admit that shitty cook is good for something at least' he thought to himself seeing his daughter eat her food. As the finished they both left their dishes in the sink, figuring Zoro will wash them when he comes home. They got into his car and drove on to Toko's school
Luffy had arrived and both him and Tama got out of the car and walked to the school. As they walked, Luffy remembered to tell her daughter about who was picking her up.
"Tama, don't forget your Aunt Robin is picking you up today! You're gonna be with her and your Uncle Franky until I get out of work."
"Yeah! I love spending time with Aunt Robin and Uncle Franky. Aunt Robin can help me with my homework too!" she said happy. Luffy was fortunate to have friends to help him raise his daughter. After all, it takes a village to raise a child. He giggled as he saw his daughter's reaction to the news. As he dropped her off, his daughter tugged on his pants. He knew the request her daughter asked for. He crouched down and kissed the top of her forehead.
"Have a good day at school sweetie" he said with a grin.
"You be safe at work Daddy! See you later" she said as she ran inside. Luffy walked away and headed for his car.
Zoro had arrived and got Toko out of the car as well.
"I'll be working at the fire station today so I may be a little late. Franky is going to pick you up as well as with Robin."
"Uncle Franky is picking me up! Yes, that means I get to help him out in his workshop!" the young girl exclaimed. He knew Franky and Robin for years. Though the two were an eccentric couple, they were good friends to Zoro and helped him and his other single father friend Luffy with taking care of the kids. 'They're better than Usopp and the Ero Cook' he thought to himself. Usopp would tend to tell tales of his great exploits, he thought was bad for his daughter. Sanji spoiled the girl to much saying that she was a princess and in no way should be raised by a brute like Sanji. Thankfully, his wife Pudding would make sure to chastise him and take care of the young Toko or Luffy's daughter Tama.
As they approached the school, Zoro ran into Luffy, who he assumed just finished dropping off Tama.
"HI Uncle Luffy!" the young girl said
"Hey Toko! Good to see you!" He then looked at his friend. "Hey Zoro, dropping of Toko I see?" the kendo practitioner nodded.
"Just gonna drop her off and head to the station,Captain" he said with a smirk. Luffy frowned at that. He knew he didn't like being called by his title. His team were his friends, and he knew that they were all equal and played a vital role to their success.
"Fine, I'll see you at the fire station then. See you later Toko. Tama is heading with you to Franky and Robin's house after school so I'm sure you'll see her then" Luffy said. Toko smiled as she heard she got to spend time with her cousin. Luffy walked to his car as Zoro approached the school. Before leaving, he picked up Toko and kissed her cheek before putting her down.
"Have fun at school Toko, love you my little prankster"
Toko giggled at her dad's nickname for her.
"You he careful at work World's Greatest Swordsman" Toko said with a smile. Most people thought Zoro was a gruff man. He rarely smiled and always looked like he was angry. Yet, when he was with Toko, she would slip past the façade and show a side only reserved for his daughter. He put her down and watched as she walked into school.
Tama was waiting in her seat as the principal walked in. walked in. She was a very strict principal, as she had seen from the many times her cousin Toko had been sent to her office for her pranks and mischief.
"Good morning class." The woman said
"Good morning Ms. Kalifa" everyone responded.
"As you know, today is the first day of school, so I'd like you all to meet your new teacher. If you could come in, please." In walked a woman with fiery red hair, she had it loose and it reached past her shoulders. She wore a shirt with a cardigan and a skirt that Tama thought made her look pretty. She stood in front of the class and bowed her head.
"Hello! I'm Miss Nami. I'll be your third-grade teacher for the year. I hope we can all get along" she said with a smile. All the boys in class fawned over their teacher who was pretty while the girls were excited to have a new teacher that was young. Ms. Kalifa then spoke up.
"Now please behave yourself as this is Ms. Nami's first year of teaching. Give her the respect and attention she deserves, is that clear?"
"Yes Ms. Kalifa" the class responded. She gave a nod to Nami and walked out. Nami smiled as she wrote her name on the board and proceeded to have the class introduce herself and tell them about themselves. When it got to Tama she stood up with a smile.
"My name is Monkey D. Tama and when I grow up I wanna be a beautiful kunoichi! "she said with a grin. Some of the kids giggled while others looked on in amazement. Nami could only laugh at the girl's enthusiasm.
"Well, I'm sure you will be"
"I know I will! My daddy says I can be anything as long as I have the drive for it!" she said as she took her dad's words to heart. The young teacher smiled hearing a parent support their child in anyway made her happy.
"He is right, you can achieve anything you want if you set your mind to it" Tama was happy and then proceeded to sit down. After everyone introduced themselves, they began their lessons for the day.
Elsewhere, Toko was having the same situation as they introduced each other to the class. When it was her turn, she stood up and had a smile on her face.
"My name is Roronoa Toko, I love to make other's laugh and practice kendo. I want to be a performer when I grow up!" she said. Her teacher, was warned about her and the trouble she caused. She, like many others on the faculty, thought it was because she was raised in a single parent household and wanted attention. As the class finished introductions, she started her lesson for the day.
Luffy had arrived at the station and walked in. He was greeted by one of his team members.
"Good morning Luffy!" the young energetic girl shouted.
"Good morning, Carrot!" Luffy sai. While the youngest of the crew at only 19, she still was capable and proficient at her job as a firefighter. Her trademark bunny ear ribbon on her head. She was munching on a carrot when he walked in and finished it as she headed inside the garage area. He walked in and saw the rest of his team. Usopp was there, tinkering with the hoses and making sure they were working fine. Gin was also readying the equipment, for when they needed to head out in a hurry. Bartolomeo was doing some chores, making sure the area was clean. Cavendish was watering the flowers they had inside the garage as a way to liven up the station. Sai was in the corner doing his morning exercises.
"Good morning, everyone!"
"Good morning, Boss/Luffy/ Mr. Luffy" came from his team. As he finished greeting them in walked Zoro.
"Mornin everyone"
"Good morning, Zoro!" they all responded. He headed to the corner where Sai was and began his morning routine as well. If he wasn't going to be working out at the dojo, he might as well do it here.
It was noon when lunch time had arrived. Tama and Toko both sat together and took out their lunches. Tama had some rice, a pork cutlet, and three sausages cut into little squids. She smiled as she read the note left by her father. "When you're hungry you gotta eat! So, make sure you eat well otherwise you won't become a kunoichi and stop the bad guys! -Love Dad". She happily ate her food. Toko opened her lunch box and saw what her dad had made. Some onigiri, a few pieces of chicken and a small salad. Her father had made her a note as well.
"I know you don't like your veggies and greens, but they're good for you. Please eat them so you can grow up and be the best performer ever-Your Swordsman Papa" Toko groaned but none the less began to eat her lunch. She didn't mind eating them since her papa made it. As the girls ate, the talked about after school.
"Are you going to Aunt Robin and Uncle Franky's house too Toko?" Tama asked
"Yup, I can't wait to help Uncle Franky in his workshop and see if he can help me to pull off some more pranks." She laughed. Tama sighed. Her cousin was always focused on pranking others and improving her dances. Not like she was any different. She secretly practiced her ninjutsu when no one was looking. The girls then ate and finished their lunch as the bell rang, signifying the return to classes.
After lunch, a call came into the station. Carrot ran to the alarm and saw what it was.
"Captain! There's a fire that broke out at a local studio! It's close to downtown!"
"OK everyone let's move out, we got some people to save after all."
"YES SIR!" As they all boarded their fire engine named Merry, they drove off as they approached the location of the fire.
When they arrived, they could see smoke billowing out of the sides and the roof. In an instant, they all jumped out as Luffy began to give orders.
"Usopp and Bartolomeo, start the hoses and start to put out the fire." The two nodded as they started to work
"Sai and Cavendish, secure the area and make sure no gets close." The two men ran out and began to secure the area, making sure no one got close ot the fire would spread out.
"Carrot, help any people that me and Zoro help bring out or are outside and make sure they are OK!" the young girl saluted and began her job. Luffy looked at Zoro.
"Let's go see if anyone needs our help in there." He said with a grin.
"Aye Captain" the green haired man responded. The two men went in and began to escort the people out as Carrot attended to their needs. Usopp and Bartolomeo were fighting the fire and stopping the spread, while Cavendish and Sai also began to hose the fire down. Zoro ran into a room and noticed two women huddled in a corner. He ran to them.
"Can both of you walk?"
"No…we don't feel so good" one of them, the one with bright green hair answered. Zoro figured they may have been weakened from smoke inhalation. Zoro then grabbed both women and put them over his shoulders. He ran outside of the room when he heard the same woman say something.
"Our…sister is in one of the other rooms…please help her" she said before she passed out. Knowing he couldn't reach her, he got his radio and called Luffy.
"Luffy, I picked up two other people here and they tell me their sister is in another room deeper inside. I can't get to her, but you can, find her"
"Shishishi, you got it Zoro, leave it to me!" he heard the man say. Zoro still couldn't believe how his friend could laugh in a life-or-death situation like this, but he always said he liked to help others.
As Luffy ran, he made it to the room that was deeper inside. It looked like a photo studio. There he saw a woman huddled in the corner crying her eyes out. Luffy ran up to her.
"Are you ok Miss? I'm here to help. I'm a firefighter so if you could please follow me I would be more than happy to help." The dark-haired woman looked up and saw the face of the man in front of her. He had a big smile, yet she felt a sense of security from it. Like he knew everything would be fine. She shook her head.
"No, I don't think I can. I feel rather lightheaded." Luffy knew this was an effect of her inhaling too much smoke and he proceeded to grab her and put her over his shoulder. She was a bit taller than Luffy, but he managed to make sure she was safe and comfortable
"Don't worry Miss, I got you. We're gonna make it out I promise!" the young man said. Somehow, she knew he was telling the truth and held on tight as she felt the man run as fast as he could outside the building. Last thing she saw as she passed out was the sun hitting her face.
The ambulance had made it just in time as they attended to the injured. The team managed to put the fire out and started helping those with injuries the best they could. The two women that Zoro had saved rushed over to the dark-haired woman as she was being helped by an EMT and a firefighter.
"SISTER!" The two women shouted. They saw their sister with a breathing mask in her as she was on a gurney. The EMT looked at them.
"She's going to be fine; we are just taking her to the hospital in order to see if she is OK from all the smoke she inhaled." The EMT said. "If Captain Luffy hadn't reached her in time, she would have suffocated." The women looked at the young man next to the EMT. He had a smile on his face as he looked at the dark-haired woman. He sighed in relief knowing she was gonna be OK.
"I was just doing my job. I'm glad your sister is safe." He then began to walk away. "I'll visit her in the hospital later to see how she's doing. I'll see you later than." He waved as he ran back to his crew in assisting them. The two women silently thanked the man for saving their sister as the got in the back and headed to the hospital with her.
School had ended and everyone was ready to head home. Tama was waiting in her class for her Aunt Robin to pick her up. Nami was at her desk going through her lesson plan for tomorrow. As she was finishing, a beautiful, tall woman walked in. Tama smiled as she hugged the tall woman. Nami got up and introduced herself.
"HI, I'm . If I am correct, you must be Mrs. Monkey D. correct?" the woman said. The dark-haired woman laughed at the teacher's question.
"No, I am not. My name is Cutty Robin. I am Tama's aunt" the woman said, cool. Nami was bright red with embarrassment. She just assumed this woman was Tama's mother.
"I'm so sorry Mrs. Cutty, I didn't know. I'm new here so I don't really know all the parents or relatives that can pick up the kids." Now that she thought about it, she didn't see a Mrs. Monkey D. on the list. Just a Monkey D. Luffy, Cutty Robin, and Cutty Flam. The last she assumed was this woman's husband. The mature woman smiled at the distress in the younger woman.
"It's quite alright. Me and my husband help pick up Tama here when her father can't" she said with a smile. Tama had returned with her backpack and lunch box and gave her aunt a hug.
"Aunt Robin! It's so nice to see you!" Tama said with a smile. Robin picked up the girl and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Good to see you as well Tama. You behaved well in class I hope." She said sternly. Tama nodded to answer her aunt's question. She smiled and put the girl down.
"Bye Ms. Nami! See you tomorrow!" the young girl said. Nami waved at the girl.
"See you tomorrow Tama. Make sure you go over what we learned today!"
"I will!" she said as her and her aunt left the room. Nami smiled as she began to gather her things and leave for the day.
In a room in another hall sat Toko waiting for her guardian to pick her up. As soon as she was wondering where her Uncle Franky was, he walked in. He was a giant of a man, with broad shoulders and a body full of muscle. He wore his traditional Hawaiian shirts he was famous for as well as board shorts and flip flops. He had his hair in a stylized pompadour and had his sunglasses on. Tama spotted him and ran to him with her stuff.
"Uncle Franky!" the young girl said as she jumped up at the man. Franky grabbed her and pulled her into a hug.
"OW! Little Toko how are you? I hope you had a SUPER day at school today!" The man shouted. Toko laughed at her uncle's antics.
"Yup I did!" she said with a smile. watched with a look of confusion.
"I'm sorry, you are Mr. Cutty I presume?"
"Yeah, that's right lady, but I don't like that name. My name is Franky and I'll be taking my darling niece with me til her old man comes home." He spoke. He then did his signature pose, putting his to hands together while tilting to the side. His connected arms had his half star tattoos make a full star. "Me and my SUPER wife will take it from here." had a confused look on her face while Toko laughed at her uncle's funny pose. "Well let's go ya little ankle biter. Robin's waiting for us with Tama." Hearing her cousin and aunt were waiting outside made the young girl excited. She rushed out with her uncle telling she'd see her tomorrow. just sat by her desk wondering what the hell just happened. She gathered her things and mumbled something about being too old to deal with these things.
Outside of the school, Toko ran outside as Franky trailed behind her. She ran faster when she saw Robin standing next to the car.
"Aunt Robin!" the little girl said as she hugged the woman's leg. She laughed as she patted the girl's head.
"Hello Toko, I'm happy to see you too." Tama ran to the man in front of her and jumped into his arms.
"Uncle Franky!"
"Hey kiddo, nice to see you too. Ready to blow Sqauresville and go back to our place?" Tama nodded and jump out of her uncle's arm. Franky walked up to Robin and gave her a quick kiss. "Ready to go babe?"
"Yes dear, lets head home" she said, a with a loving look on her face. They heard Tama giggle and Toko made a gagging noise.
"Yuck, Aunt Robin and Uncle Franky are being lovey dovey again" Toko said while sticking out her tongue.
"I don't know Toko, it's nice seeing Uncle Franky and Aunt Robin be in love even after being married for so long" she said with a smile. The two adults laughed as they got the children into the car. Robin took the passenger seat as Franky drove. The sped off, driving to their home and spending time with their favorite nieces.
The day was almost over and after the fire they put out at the studio, the rest of the day had been uneventful. As the day almost ended and the other shift was coming in, Luffy told his team he was leaving early yo go check up on the woman he saved from the fire. His crew acknowledged it and waved goodbye as he left. He would always check up on victims of the fires he would save. It has become a thing for him to do. As he got in his car he drove to the local hospital. He arrived and went in. In there he spotted a beautiful blonde woman by the nurse's station.
"Hey Milky! How are ya?" the man's said. The woman turned around and saw the familiar face she ran up and gave the man a big hug.
"Hello Luffy! How are you?" she asked. Luffy gave her his trademark grin.
"I've been ok"
"What about Tama?"
"She's great too! She just started the third grade today! What about little Tina?" he asked. Milky smiled
"She's doing just fine. She's almost a year old can you believe it? Chopper is so proud to be a father" Milky said with a loving look in her eyes. Milky was the head nurse at the local hospital while Chopper was the lead doctor at the hospital. He was a prodigy, gaining his medical degree at the age of 21, his adoptive parents were thrilled and happy, them being doctors as well. He became friends with Milky over the 6 years he's been a firefighter. He'd known Chopper since he was a kid and always helped protect him from bullies. He remembered what he was there for and changed the subject.
"I'm here looking for a patient that came in from the fire that happened close to downtown." He asked the head nurse.
"Oh yes, I know who you're talking about. Her name is Boa Hancock, she's on the 5th floor." She said with a smile.
"Cool thanks Milky!" he sped off towards the elevators. Milky smiled as she continued to do her paperwork. 'I don't blame Luffy, he must be smitten by the most gorgeous model in the world' she continued to do her work.
Luffy got off on the fifth floor and headed to the room. He asked a nurse where the patient was, and she directed him to the room. With a thanks he walked to the room and stood outside. He knocked and waited for the door to open. As the door opened, he heard a woman talk in an aggressive tone.
"I told you damn paparazzi to leave my sister alone she needs her rest and- oh it's you" the tall brunette said looking at Luffy. He gave her his trademark smile and wave.
"Yup it's me! I told you I'd stop by and check up on your sister."
"Well, she isn't in the mood to talk to anyone, let alone a man. I must ask you to leave at once or- "
"It's OK Marigold, let him in" a voice inside said. The woman looked inside and nodded. She stood aside and opened the door, allowing the young firefighter to walk in. He saw the woman he saved on the bed with an IV next to her. She looked fine if not a little exhausted. He smiled knowing she was OK.
"It's good to see you're OK, makes me know I did a good job. My name is Monkey D. Luffy." He said. The woman looked at him. Why wasn't he automatically head over heels with her. All the men she would meet would instantly comment on her beauty or her body. It hit her maybe he didn't know who she was.
"Do you not know who I am?" she asked. The man tilted his head, giving her a look of confusion.
"No, am I supposed too?" he said still with the look of confusion. The 3 women gasped at his response. How could this man not know who the woman he saved was. She decided to see if the man was lying.
"So, you mean you've never seen me or heard about me?" the woman asked. Luffy closed his eyes and thought about it. He couldn't come up with anything.
"Nope, sorry" he said with a smile. They couldn't believe it, either this man was faking it, or he really didn't know. The woman decided to introduce herself.
"I am Boa Hancock." She said, with a sense of authority in her voice. She pointed to the green haired woman and the orange haired woman in front of her. "These are my younger sisters, Boa Sandersona and Boa Marigold." The two nodded in acknowledgement of their sisters' introductions. Luffy nodded.
"Nice to meet all three of you" he said with a bow. "I just came in to see how you were doing is all. I do it to all the people I save from the fires me and my team put out." He smiled. Hancock didn't know why, but that smile put her at ease. She felt her cheeks heat up a bit. Luffy suddenly heard his phone ring and saw who it was. It was Franky. "Hey Franky, what's up?"
"Luffy! Zoro told us you were gonna be late picking up Tama so me and Robin ordered takeout and wondered if you wanted to join us for dinner?" the eccentric mechanic said on the other end.
"Yeah, you got it! I'll be there soon. See ya later" he hung up and looked at Hancock. "Sorry, I gotta go, but is it OK if I stop by tomorrow? I promise to visit every day til you leave this hospital, that's my promise to you.". Sandersona and Marigold were about to protest when Hancock's voice stopped them.
"Of course, you can Mr. Luffy, I'd be honored to get a visit from the hero that saved me.". Luffy frowned at this.
"Hey, I'm not a hero, I was just doing the right thing. It's my job to save people and my own code to make sure they're safe. I don't do it for the glory of it, I do it because I care for other people." He said. This caused the three women to gasp. He wasn't in it for the glory or recognition? Just who was this man? Luffy then walked to the door and opened it. Before he left, he stood by the open door. "See ya tomorrow Hancock" he said with a then closed the door behind him. She didn't know why but hearing him say her name caused her to blush and feel butterflies in her stomach. She didn't know what she felt but she liked it. She then told her sisters she was going to go back to sleep, and they acknowledged her request. Hancock drifted off to sleep, her dreams filled with a black-haired young man and his goofy grin.
Luffy arrived at his friend's house and knocked on the door. He was greeted by Robin who smiled and let him in. Smelling the food, he rushed to the kitchen where he saw Franky and Tama setting up the table. Tama saw her father and ran up to him.
"Daddy! You're back! I missed you." Tama said as Luffy picked her up. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and spun around.
"I missed you to my little kunoichi" he said with a smile. Franky and Robin looked on at the scene and then turned to each other and smiled. Seeing the younger man happy with his daughter always made the couple happy. As they finished, they sat down and began to eat. Tama and Luffy devouring their food in a few minutes. After the dinner and some catching up, Luffy and Tama headed out. She thanked the couple for their help and Tama gave each a big hug as they left. They got into the car and drove home. Halfway home, Luffy remembered something.
"Aw man, I forgot I was gonna stop by the market to buy some groceries for tomorrow's lunch. You don't mind if we make a detour right Tama?" the young girl shook her head.
"Nope I don't Daddy, let's go while it's still early! Tonight, is a new episode of Magical Girl Kunoichi Shinobu!" she said excitedly. Luffy chuckled at his daughter's reasoning for being home at a reasonable time.
"You got it my little kunoichi!" he said as they drove to the market. When they arrived, they parked their car and grabbed a cart. Luffy made sure Tama was close to him as they entered. They proceeded to get ingredients and other things for themselves for the week. Unknown to them, a young woman with orange hair was also shopping. Her sister asked if she could stop by and pick up something she needed for making dinner and she did her the favor. As she was walking down the aisle, ready to pay, she heard the familiar voice of a young girl.
"Please Daddy, can I get this please?" The young girl begged. Nami saw Tama from her class but saw a man as well. She noticed he pretty tall with a grin on his face. He wore a shirt that showed off his toned muscles. She noticed he also had a handsome face, made more handsome by the smile he had on his face. Nami couldn't help but blush seeing the man in front of her.
"OK Tama we'll get it, but make sure you don't eat too much of these. It's a lot of sugar for you, ok?" he said sternly.
"OK daddy!" Tama said with a smile. She couldn't help but smile at the interaction between the two. Luffy looked up and saw the woman standing there.
"Oh, I'm sorry, are we in your way, I'll just move aside" he moved the cart to let the woman pass.
"No, it's fine" she said waving her hands in front of her. Tama looked up as she heard the familiar voice.
"Ms. Nami?"
"Hello Tama, nice running into you again" she said with a smile. The young girl smiled as she tugged on her father's pants.
"Daddy! This is my teacher at school Ms. Nami! She's so pretty and cool!" Tama said. Nami couldn't help but blush at the girl's compliment. The man laughed at his daughter's joy and stuck his hand out. "Nice to meet you Ms. Nami. I'm Monkey D. Luffy. I'm Tama's father." Nami shook the man's hand, a faint blush on her cheeks.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Monkey D. I'm Nami and I'm your daughter's teacher over at East Blue Elementary."
"Oh, please call me Luffy. Mr. Monkey D. is my father." He said chuckling at his own joke. Nami gave a small giggle, but Tama sighed in embarrassment.
"You're doing your dad jokes again Daddy!" she said
"I can't help it, I am your dad shishishishi" he laughed, causing the girl more embarrassment. Nami watched the interaction between the two and smiled. They had a great relationship and seemed happy. Luffy noticed her cart as well, not too full like his but still had some stuff in it. "Sorry to keep you waiting, I'm sure you must be busy with your shopping." Nami suddenly looked embarrassed as she was heading to pay for her things.
"No, it's alright, I was just heading to the front to pay."
"Oh great, why don't we both head there! We were about to go pay as well." Nami didn't know why she didn't say anything, but she nodded her head. As they walked her and Luffy chatted. Him asking about how Tama was doing and her telling him how she was new in town. Luffy smiled as he came up with an idea. "Hey why don't I show you around town! You're new and I can show you a lot of cool places" he said with a grin. Nami blushed hard. Was this man asking her out? Wasn't he married or had a girlfriend? Before she could respond, Tama called to her father.
"Daddy, can I go up ahead to the newspaper stand over there? I want to see if they have the latest issue of the Magical Girl Kunoichi Shinobu. I'll even buy it with my allowance money." She said as she took out her small purse. It was in the shape of a tanuki with a leaf on its head that Nami found adorable.
"OK Tama but be back once you get it ok." She nodded and ran off luckily the stand was close by. As she left, Nami remembered what she was going to tell him.
"I don't think your wife would appreciate you taking another woman around town." Luffy looked confused.
"Wife? I don't have a wife. I'm not married" he said
"Oh…then I'm sure your girlfriend wouldn't appreciate it either."
"I don't have a girlfriend either." Nami couldn't believe it. This man was single? Then was this really a date? But wait, wouldn't Tama's mother take offense to that.
"Then what about Tama's mother? Wouldn't she be upset about- "Nami stopped when she saw the expression on the man in front of her. It was a gloomy one, one of regret and pain.
"I…. I don't want to talk about that." He mumbled. Nami felt bad for it and knew it was a sore spot for the man. She quickly changed the subject.
"OK then I accept your offer. It's a date." She said without thinking. She quickly noticed what she said and mentally slapped herself. Luffy recovered and gave her a smile.
"Sure, it's a date!" he said, not fully knowing the intent of his words. Nami blushed at the man's response. They finished up paying and Luffy and Tama walked her to her car. They helped her load her groceries and waved goodbye when they finished. Luffy had given Nami his number and her as well, in order to plan out their "date". Luffy laughed as Nami could only blush as they exchanged numbers. She drove home, excited for her rendezvous with the young man.
She arrived home and her sister Nojiko was waiting. She was a bit upset she took a while.
"Did you get lost? I thought you knew where my house was?" she said but only noticed her sister had a dreamy look on her face. "Hello? Earth to Nami you there?" she said as she knocked on her head.
"Ow, what the hell Nojiko" the orangette yelled at her sister.
"Finally, I've been asking you why you took so long and didn't get a response. So, what happened that's got you so distracted?
"Oh um…. well, you see I ran into a student and her father. We may have talked a bit and one thing led to another and now I'm going on a date with him."
"Wow Nami, not even here for 2 weeks and you already got a married man under your control, I thought you were better than that." Nojiko said, slight disappointment in her tone.
"He's not married, and he doesn't have a girlfriend, he's single!" she yelled at her sister. Nojiko blinked and had a mischievous smile.
"OK you gotta give me the juicy details Nami, come on spill it." Nami sighed. She began to tell her about Luffy as the two got the rest of the groceries and put them away.
Luffy and Tama had arrived with a half hour to spare before Tama's show. As she got her stuff ready, Luffy made her a little snack for her to enjoy while she watched. She may have eaten less than two hours ago, but her stomach was just as bottomless as Luffy. He smiled as he watched from the couch out of the corner of his eyes as his daughter would get excited when Shinobu would fight the bad guys, scared when the evil leader of the Beast Gang Kaido showed up and had one of his Headliners showed up and attacked the Kingdom of Wano, and cheered when Shinobu would once again defeat Kaido and his Beast army to save Wano. As the show ended, Tama spent some time practicing her ninjitsu before Luffy told her it was time for bed. Getting herself ready for bed, she changed into her pajamas and got under the covers. Luffy walked in to tuck her in for bed. He bent over and placed a kiss on her forehead. Tama giggled at her father's gesture.
"Good night my little kunoichi. I love you"
"Good night daddy. I love you too." She said as she yawned. Luffy turned to walk away and turned out the light, leaving a small light in her bathroom in case she needed to go in the middle of the night. He closed the door and sighed. He walked over to the kitchen as he prepped the ingredients for breakfast and lunch he was going to make in the morning. He finished and checked the clock. Almost 11pm. He yawned as he headed to his room. He took off his shirt and threw it in the hamper. He changed into some pajamas as he did his nightly rituals. He got under the covers and made sure he set his alarm and had his phone charging. He turned off the lights and let sleep take over him. He wouldn't remember, but his dreams that night had a gorgeous dark-haired woman and an equally gorgeous red head in them.
Had this going through my head after my cousin asked me a question after finishing Wano. What if Luffy and Zoro ended up being the dads to Tama and Toko? Hoping to update when I can as work and personal stuff will keep me busy. Let me know what you think! Next chapter will be Zoro side of the same day. He'll meet the two ladies that will try to get his attention.
