The One Where Sheldon Moves Part 1
Flashback Sequence:
Amy: I've been offered a temporary job at Columbia University in New York.
Sheldon: Are you going to do it?
Amy: I mean yeah why wouldn't I?
Scene 1: Sheldon and Amy's apartment. Sheldon is watching Star Trek. Amy calls him over Skype which he picks up.
Sheldon: Hello Amy. I wasn't expecting to talk with you until tomorrow.
Amy: Hello. I called to give you some news, but I'll tell you in a bit.
Sheldon: Alright. How has Columbia been?
Amy: It's been really great. The facilities here are amazing, even better than Caltech.
Sheldon: That's nice to hear. Any idea on when you'll be coming back?
Amy: That's actually the news I was telling you about?
Sheldon: What do you mean?
Amy: I've gotten so used to the advanced facilitation here at Columbia, that I don't think it's necessary to go back to Pasadena.
Sheldon: Oh that's absurd. I'm sure it will be fine when you come back.
Amy: I'm serious, Sheldon. Columbia is much more advanced than Caltech. I think that I should stay here in New York, and I recommend you join me as there is a job open that is perfect for you.
Sheldon: That is utterly preposterous. I'd like to hear you convince me.
Amy: I believe I can do that in approximately 13 minutes.
Sheldon: I sincerely doubt that.
13 Minutes Later:
Scene 2A: Leonard and Penny's apartment. They are talking at the kitchen bench before Sheldon bursts in.
Sheldon: Leonard, pack your bags we're moving to New York.
Intro Plays
Scene 2B: Leonard and Penny's apartment.
Leonard: What do you mean we're moving to New York?
Sheldon: Amy has decided to relocate there to continue her work at Columbia University and she has advised me to follow in her footsteps.
Penny: And that involves us how?
Sheldon: I think that it would be a great opportunity for Leonard to continue his work at a place with much more advanced facilities. And Penny this could possibly re-open your acting career with a fresh start on Broadway.
Penny: Sheldon, that is so considerate of you!
Leonard: Hold on, hold on. You expect us to just move there? What about Howard and Bernadette? You know that they've been struggling financially for a while. And Raj too. He just got his new apartment.
Sheldon: Well I think that they can survive on their own, or of course they could go with us?
Leonard: Sheldon I don't think you're looking at the big picture here.
Sheldon: Leonard, I have an eidetic memory. I am always looking at the big picture.
Leonard: I fully support your decision but I really don't think that it's a good idea in the long run.
Sheldon: Well I bet I can convince you to change your mind in approximately 13 minutes.
Leonard: I sincerely doubt that.
13 Minutes Later
Leonard: Well I'll be damned.
Scene 3: Howard and Bernadette's house. Bernadette is playing Scrabble with Halley while Howard is watching TV with Michael.
Bernadette: Yes! I win again!
Halley: Mommy you're being mean!
Bernadette: Oh sorry honey. I can let you win the next round if you'd like.
Halley: No thanks. I wanna go play with my dolls now.
Bernadette: Do you want me to come with you?
Halley: It's okay.
Halley exits the scene
Bernadette: Oh my god, I feel so bad!
Howard: You couldn't even let your own daughter win a game of Scrabble or Jenga.
Bernadette: Her hand was shaking so much. It's like she had Parkinson's or something.
Michael: Daddy, what's Parkinson's?
Howard: Well you see, Michael, when we grow older, our bodies grow older as well. A lot of things could happen, and one of those things is Parkinson's. It causes our bodies to shake so much that it can be hard to handle. And in very rare cases, our hands can shake so much that they turn into… the claw!
Michael: Not the claw!
Howard: I'm gonna get you!
Michael and Howard exit the scene
Bernadette: *sigh* He's so good with him.
Bernadette's phone rings which she picks up
Bernadette: Hey Penny!
Penny: Hi Berny. What's happening?
Bernadette: Just hanging with the kids. How about you?
Penny: Well actually, Sheldon and Amy were talking and she decided to stay in New York and she also managed to convince Sheldon to go with her and then Sheldon managed to convince us to go as well so we're gonna go there in a few days to see what it's like and if we like it then we're gonna relocate there.
Bernadette: No way! Are you sure about this?
Penny: Believe it or not, Sheldon had great reasoning.
Bernadette: Like what?
Penny: Well he mentioned Broadway and how I could possibly restart my acting career there.
Bernadette: Oh that's nice but I thought you weren't interested in that anymore?
Penny: Well yeah I wasn't but y'know stage show acting is a whole different game compared to screen acting.
Bernadette: Will you continue your work in pharmaceuticals?
Penny: Well yeah I thought I could do that and start acting on the side.
Bernadette: I'm still not sure you're being completely realistic here, Penny.
Penny: Hold on a sec. Sheldon, can you come talk to Bernadette for 13 minutes?
Bernadette: That's oddly specific.
Penny: That's all he needs.
Bernadette: I sincerely doubt that.
13 Minutes Later
Bernadette: Well I'll be damned.
Scene 4: Raj is in his new apartment Skype calling his father, whom of which picks up
Raj: Hello daddy!
Raj's Father: Hello Raj. It is so nice to talk to you. How is your new apartment?
Raj: It's really great! It's so open and it's got a really nice view. I'm surprised how cheap it was.
Raj's Father: That's great to hear. So how have things been with you and Lakshmi?
Raj: Actually quite great, she actually just left a minute ago.
Raj's Father: I'm so glad you've finally found a nice independent Indian girl to spend your life with.
Raj: Honestly I think you're right. We've got such great chemistry that I genuinely think she is the one.
Raj's Father: I'm so happy about this. I have to go now Raj. I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
Raj: Bye daddy!
Raj gets a notification on his phone
Raj: Come to our apartment, we've got something to share.
Raj leaves.
Scene 5: Leonard and Penny's apartment. Sheldon is explaining to Raj why he is moving to New York.
Raj: Well I'll be damned.
Penny: See! 13 minutes every time.
Sheldon: Oh I can't take all the credit. Amy was the one who gave me the explanation the first time. My eidetic memory just enhanced it.
Leonard and Howard enter the scene with Pizza
Penny: Finally! I am starving.
Bernadette: Leonard, how much do we all owe?
Sheldon: Ah, guys. My treat.
Leonard: You really have been treating us a lot recently. Are you sure you're not wasting your money?
Sheldon: Leonard, I told you already. I calculated everything and the amount of money in our savings account should give us more than the perfect balance to end our lives with.
Leonard: Okay then.
Sheldon: Now, me, Leonard and Penny will be departing for New York on Monday morning. If anyone else will be attending they better book their tickets quickly.
Howard: Sorry Sheldon but with the kids and our current situation it's not exactly the right thing to do.
Sheldon: I completely understand. Raj?
Raj: I would but I really want to try and get closer to Lakshmi so my parents will be happy.
Sheldon: Then I guess it's just us 3.
Sheldon's phone rings
Sheldon: It's Amy. Probably to tell us about accommodation.
Sheldon picks up and turns on loud speaker
Sheldon: Hi Amy.
Amy: Hello. I believe it's dinner time where you are. Is everyone with you?
Sheldon: Yes they are.
Everyone except Sheldon and Amy: Hey Amy.
Amy: Cool. I've called to tell you that the location we'll be staying at is 90 Bedford Street, Greenwich Village, apartment 20.
Penny: I've heard Greenwich is an amazing place.
Amy: Yes, that is one of the reasons I've chosen that area.
Sheldon: Well, that's great news. We better get to eating now. I'll talk to you tomorrow, okay?
Amy: Great. See you guys.
Sheldon: Bye.
Bernadette: So Greenwich eh?
Raj: It's such a great place. Priya stayed there a few months ago and she said it was one of the best places in New York.
Sheldon: Oh I just can't wait to start my new life there.
Penny: *whispering to Leonard* Just to be sure, when he said Priya you didn't think of anything did you?
Leonard: Penny, that was years ago I barely even remember that.
Penny: Yeah you're right I'm just paranoid.
2 days later:
Scene 6: Leonard and Penny's apartment. They are wheeling out their luggage as Sheldon walks in.
Sheldon: I've got to say you 2 have been really on point these past few days. You're really helped me in the transition between my old and new life. I sincerely thank you guys.
Penny: Oh Sheldon, we're always here to help you.
Sheldon: I almost feel like I should pay you guys.
Leonard: Sheldon no. You can not waste your money any more.
Sheldon: But Leonard, I did the calculations.
Leonard: Yes but the economy can change at any second.
Sheldon: You know, you're right. I'll stop spending my money.
Leonard: Great!
Penny: Are you guys ready to go?
Leonard: Yeah we just gotta wait for Stuart to get here.
Penny: What's been happening with him lately?
Leonard: He actually just made a deal with a growing author to do art for his books. He's apparently gonna get a lot of money.
Penny: Oh that's great. I'm so happy for him.
Stuart walks through the door
Stuart: Hey guys.
Leonard: Hey Stuart.
Penny: Hey Stuart I just heard about your deal with that author. I'm so happy for you.
Stuart: Thanks. I actually went to junior high with him so he specifically wanted me to work with him.
Penny: Oh cool. Who is it?
Stuart: Do you know Alan Delancy?
Penny: Is he the one that wrote "A Million Ways"?
Stuart: Yeah that's him.
Penny: Oh my god I read that and it was amazing.
Stuart: Yeah he's working on a children's novel and he wants me to add pictures.
Penny: I'm happy to hear it.
Leonard: Alright guys we'd better get going.
Penny: Bye Stuart!
Stuart: See you guys!
Sheldon: Don't sell our comics!
Stuart: Don't worry I won't!
Sheldon, Leonard and Penny exit the scene
Stuart picks up a comic from the table
Stuart: I wonder how much this will sell for.
He pulls out his phone.
Scene 7A: Airport waiting room. Sheldon and Leonard are sitting on opposing seats with Penny on Leonard's right.
Penny: I still can't believe that we're about to board a plane to New York City!
Leonard: I know, it's crazy!
Announcer: Gate 26 is now open! Flight 319 is now boarding!
Sheldon: That's us!
Scene 7B: Outside. The 3 are walking to the plane.
Sheldon: I wish we could go by train but this is still amazing!
Leonard: If we had to go by train I probably would've jumped out of it.
Scene 7C: In the plane. Penny is in the middle seat, Leonard is on the aisle and Sheldon is next to the window.
Announcer: The plane will be taking off shortly.
Penny: This is it.
Sheldon: I don't know why but a small part of me thought this wouldn't actually happen but here we are.
The plane starts to move
Sheldon: Oh look the airport's moving. Wait no it isn't. We're moving!
Penny: Leonard hold my hand.
Leonard and Penny join hands
B-Roll of plane leaving
5 hours later
Scene 8: Amy is waiting at the exit. Sheldon, Leonard and Penny walk out,
Amy: Sheldon!
Amy runs to hug Sheldon
Sheldon: Hi Amy!
Amy: Hey you guys!
Leonard and Penny: Hi.
Penny: It's great to see you!
Amy: We'll get back in touch later, bestie. We've got work to do.
Sheldon: What's the plan?
Amy: I've made a schedule of everything that needs to be done.
Sheldon: Ohh you know how much I love schedules.
Amy: I've got all my things there already so we just need to get your stuff there.
Leonard: Alright, let's get down to business.
Penny: *Quietly* We're in New York New York and this is the first thing we do.
Scene 9A: Hallway of Amy and Sheldon's new apartment. The 4 walk up the steps.
Amy: This is it. Apartment 20.
Leonard: I can't wait to see it.
Amy unlocks the door
Sheldon: Woooooow!
Amy: I knew you'd love it!
Penny: Amy, this place is amazing.
Amy: Thanks. I knew it was the perfect place.
Sheldon: It's so open! And I love the colour!
Amy: The paint has been like that since the 90's.
Leonard: Do you guys want me to get the other box from the car?
Sheldon: Oh no it's okay I'll do it.
Amy: Okay. See you in a bit!
Sheldon exits the scene
Scene 9B: The hallway, Sheldon closes the door while the door to apartment 19 opens. Joey Tribbiani walks out.
Joey: Oh hey! You the new neighbour?
Sheldon: Yes indeed we are.
Joey: Ahh! I'm Joey Tribbiani. It's nice to meet you.
Sheldon: Sheldon Cooper! And it is nice to meet you too!
