Chapter 1: Problems of Berk. Astrid's P.O.V

The village. In a word, sturdy. And it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problems are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitos. We have... dragons.

More dragons swarm in, setting rooftops alight and hauling off sheep. Most people would leave. Not us. We're Vikings. We have stubbornness issues. Viking men and women pour out into the streets, axes in hand. My name's Astrid. It's supposed to mean divinely beautiful. A few legends have come to know this island, from Borgen the Bold, to Stoick The Vast our current chief.

People say our chief is hard on our village, and he has every right to. When he and his wife had a child, they sent him adrift because he was not like most viking babies. From what I have learnt about this child, is understandable, who would want a skinny little viking ruling as chief if he could not even lift a weapon or strike a dragon.

After the raid, Stoick calls a meeting with the villagers.

The townhall, one of my favorite places in the whole village. It is where we eat, drink, talk, and celebrate. But today is the 17th anniversary of the chief's child's birth. Stoick up on the stage and settles everyone down.

Stoick's P.O.V

"What a good year, many raids have come and passed as they all do." says Stoick looking out into the crowd of vikings. "From tomorrow we will start setting up defenses for our village. We will make sure the dragons never come back!"

"But Stoick, how will we do such a thing?" asks one of the vikings in the crowd. "We don't have that kind of power to shoo them away."

"I agree, but with Fishleg's help maybe we can find a way to make the dragons leave us for good." says Stoick earning a roar of happiness. "Fishlegs is there anything you know of that we can try to use?"

"Chief, with all due respect... I have searched the Book of Dragons for something, but I have come up empty handed over and over again."

"What else is we can do?" shouts another viking in the crowd.

"We have our allies, Bog Burglars, Berserkers, and the Meadheads." says Spitelout one of Stoick's councilmen.

"Then it is settled, Spitelout carry out the mission to send word to our allies and get them here as soon as possible. Everyone else, prepare the ships. We head off on another mission for the nest." says Stoick as everyone heads on home.

The Next Day.

Everyone is gathering out by the Docks as Stoick and his fleet disembark for their allies and the nest.

"In my absence I am placing my wife Valka Haddock to be chief until I come back." says Stoick as he boards his ship. "Set sail for the nest!"

"Aye" says the sailor captain as the ships start moving from the harbor.

"Alright, Valka. What shall we do while we wait for them to come back?" asks Astrid.

"While the men of the village are gone to look for the nest, we will stay and prepare the village as well as keep the children trained." says Valka. "Gobber you will need another pair of hands to help in the forge, Astrid you may take the trainee job for killing dragons. Fishlegs and the twins, i need you to start getting more wood to keep working on the village."

Meanwhile on a far away island.

A ride of Darkness has just flown in from his Nest of Dragons to his home. A large palace suited for a King starts to show. As the ride slows down, he lands on the balcony overlooking the entire city. Then a man dressed in black and red uniform walks out.

"So, I take it the Flight suit worked then?" asks the man.

"Indeed. Have the Clothing Industry make more. I trust there has been news of the Hunters?"

"Yes, they have been sighted sailing around the village walls."

"Very well. I put you in charge of dealing with them Valentine. I trust you will see to it, they do not enter this city unless they surrender their forces, boats, and their dragons?"

"Of course, My King." says Valentine as they walk together through the palace. the King heads to the Throne Room, whilst Valentine heads to the Industrial Areas.

As the King enters his Throne room, he sees his Viziers standing in front of his throne.

"My King." They all say as they bow down.

"Speak, what do I get called to deal with this time?" asks the King sitting on his throne taking his mask off.

"Sire, we have news from the Outcast Tribe... they are still getting raided and are seeking for new allies."

"Very well. Send a small taskforce into the Viking Archipelago to deal with their raiding. Tell our agents it is time to come out of hiding. We will make ourselves known to everyone." says the King as his scripters write his commands on small paper scrolls to be spread amongst their agents.

"Very well sire."

"What else must we take care of?" asks the King.

"Well sire, the island of The King has been found by our agents, apparently there is 'a Dragon King sitting in ice.' His words not mine."

"Any other riders?"

"Not that have been sighted. Why do you ask?"

"The hunter Viggo told me that they were hunting a dragon rider down. I do not understand who, but I vowed to find them."

"You are working with the enemy?"

"No, I am working for myself. I am making sure the hunters go out of business and add their forces to our kingdom."

"Very well My Lord. A guest has arrived and is ready to meet." says one of the viziers as a figure in blue, and white walks into the room.

"Good to see you again Your Majesty"
