Roxy and Mari stand in the middle of the street, having taken care of Intergang's newest thugs. When they heard that Intergang was robbing the Metropolis city bank, Mari was perplexed and Roxy was...excited. Surely Intergang had come up with another way to gain power, to capture the strength they had when Ignition was in the group, if they were being so brazen! Unfortunately...that was not the case.
Yes, Intergang had new exosuits, repurposed Lexosuits it seems, and yes it greatly rose their combat ability. But...still none of them were a match for Roxy or Mari. With a sigh, Roxy lethargically took out the boring and weak thugs, and looked of into the horizon as Mari did clean up. Once Mari was back, Roxy couldn't help herself.
"Hey Mari." She begins, causing the model-turned-fashion-company-mogul to turn her way.
"Yeah?"
"You ever get like...bored?"
"Bored?" Mari raises an eyebrow, not sure what her friend is getting at. "Roxy we just took on Intergang, not ten seconds ago. How is that boring?" She asks, incredulous. Roxy shrugs.
"I don't know, Vix, they just...they're not that strong, you know? It feels like we were never in any real danger." Roxy relays. Mari furrows her brow in confusion.
"And that's supposed to be a bad thing? That we're not facing down life and death every two seconds? Roxy I- I thought you grew out of that." Mari criticizes the childish wants of her close friend. Roxy can't help but to smile at how motherly her girl looks and sounds right now.
"Nope." She replies, popping the 'p' in the word. "How could I? Working at Lexcorp has always fulfilled my needs! Always been exciting and danger filled and...and...now it's...not." Mari pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs.
"That's because of us, because of the dangerous activities that we did before. We helped Lex grow the company to the point where it's virtually untouchable. We're on top now, Roxy. Enjoy it." Mari punches her close friend's shoulder playfully. She'd never seen Roxy so tense or contemplative before and it really didn't fit her.
"Right. We're on top. Untouchable..." Roxy smiles back uneasy, as the words play in her mind. Lexcorp is untouchable...
Hours later Roxy sits in front of her boss, Lex Luthor, the fine specimen of a man who had given her a job and allowed her to experience the ultimate thrills of life. It was because of this, that she felt she owed it to him to talk.
"So, Roxanne, do you mind if I call you Roxanne?" Lex addresses her politely. 'You can call me anything you want.' is on the tip of her tongue, but she holds it in. She didn't like Lex like that, even it was...dangerous waters to tread in.
"Sure, I guess." Lex reads...something in her and it doesn't make him comfortable.
"Roxanne, you've been one of my longest tenured employees, and an absolute joy to work with. You get things done, and you're fearless. So please, feel free to speak your mind and let me know exactly what this meeting is about." Lex figured buttering her up and flattering her would do more than anything else. Roxanne Sutton only wanted one thing, and that thing was danger. So for her to call a meeting with him, under such short notice...well he hated to think of what the reason could possibly be.
"Well..." Roxy looks at Lex with a smile as she trails off. "I...I was talking it over, and thinking about my current position here at Lexcorp and...I don't know, I just don't feel like I'm having fun anymore. There's not enough thrills, enough danger." Once he hears her words, Lex lets all pretenses drop, and addresses her honestly, in a dry tone.
"We, you faced Superman just last week. I'm unaware of a greater danger than-" She doesn't let him finish, cutting him off. She actually cuts him off and Lex has to use every ounce of self-control to not let his anger show.
"Pfft that boyscout? Supes ain't nothing! Just get some green rocks and you can send him packing, easy! I want something that's more...challenging." Lex isn't sure what's worse, her dismissing his greatest enemy like that, or her cutting him off as she did. Either way, he wasn't going to tolerate it.
"Roxy, be reasonable. Even with Kryptonite in hand, Superman is not an easy opponent. He only seems that way because of how...advanced we are here at Lexcorp." He then screws up his face. "And 'Supes'? Please, try not to disrespect me or him with such a ridiculous name." Roxy grunts in frustration.
"Why not? Who wants to say 'Superman of Metropolis, Kal-El of Krypton' everytime the lug comes up? Not me!" She exclaims, mimicking the voice of an old school radio host when addressing the world's first superhero. "And you said it yourself Lex, Lexcorp is better than Supes. It's more...advanced. I just feel..." It dawns on Lex now. This is what she's after. She...the madwoman!
"...Roxy...no..." Roxy can't help but grin wide, so he finally caught on.
"Roxy, yes."
"Think about what you're doing! You're abandoning all of the relationships you've built here! All of your friends! And you know what we're capable of, what I'm capable of!" Roxy nods rapidly.
"I know, it's so exciting! Having to sneak around and risk my neck, just to see my girls? What could be better than that?" At his point Lex Luthor is full on frowning.
"And what makes you think I'll even let you leave, to begin this...ridiculous new life that you want to start!" He's all but shouting now. Roxy's eyes widen in glee as she drinks in the threat.
"You...you promise?"
"I...what?" Right, she loves danger. Lex has to calm himself down. "No. What I mean is...how do you know I won't simply let you walk out of here and command everyone to simply not engage with you, thus denying you of your thrills as a...in this asinine endeavor." Roxy frowns for a moment.
"Hm...good point." She seems to think it over some more. Internally Lex is smirking, he's got her. Once again his superior intellect has- "Because, I know you Lex. And you won't let me get away with it. Your pride won't let you." Roxy answers after a few moments, a small smile on her face. Lex remains stoic.
"I think you underestimate me." Roxy barely tilts her head to the side.
"Uhuh. I'll take my chances." Roxy finishes with a smile as she rises to her feet and stretches out her arms. "Well, see ya later Lex. And thanks for everything!" She then exits his office. As soon as he's sure that she's gone, Lex lets his head fall to his desk. That woman is going to cause him more problems that the alien. He can just feel it...
