My Hero Academia: The Useless Quirk Club

Chapter 1 - The What… Club?

"Excuse me?"

There were a lot of instances where Yamato had to heavily rethink the decisions he was making or was in the process of making not due to his own fault but that of others, but he didn't expect it to be happening so soon. It was a perfectly quiet, sunset-layered Monday afternoon - the first day of high school, mind you… And suffice to say, he was on his way out the damn building!

You see, he had no high hopes to begin with. But believing there was hope given there was conclusive evidence that he was going to walk out of Seishin Yuushou without speaking to any lost and friendship-depraved soul, but you clearly see that that was where his weakness lay. This was a living testament to his inability to land on all fours when he's pushed off the roof.

To be fair, the General Studies Course was not as annoying as he would've thought it was, and people left him alone, which he used to debate whether it was because of him being a Beast Man, but he soon realized that he was left to his own devices. He was extremely thankful for that because he believed his time was his most valuable possession. Hell, he could tell that most of his classmates weren't assholes… except this 'Hanabimura Makoto' runt…

… who dared change his routine.

The shortie's confidence was boundless, too, irritatingly so. "That's right! I said it! THE USELESS QUIRK CLUB!"

Even a blind person would have a better intuition than to siphon his time away with USELESS shenanigans that this peewee was subjecting him to. What the hell is 'The Useless Quirk Club' anyway?

And, really? Was this guy out of his damn mind? Is he capping for real?

"Is this a joke?" Came the blunt inquiry that spilled without hesitation from his small muzzle. While Yamato preferred not to stretch his face muscles to the degree that was required for most human expressions, he couldn't help but frown.

"OF COURSE NOT! I'm being completely serious here."

What did surprise him was the degree of determination he had witnessed from Hanabimura-san when the slightly shorter teen brought out a folded piece of paper and a gel pen out of nowhere. The perfect 90-degree bow that came after made him step back as his tail shot up and straightened. Golden slitted eyes blinked a few times as the latter whipped his head back up with a stupid, optimistic grin.

Still, the beast man was wary of the other teen's motives. To what extent did he go to convince the Head Advisory Committee Counselor to even consider the idea since any sane individual would consider it a very questionable endeavor. When Yamato looked up to give the other a quick glance-over, Makoto's slightly aglow violet-blue eyes were already gazing his way. "Did you know that Seishin Yuushou's Student Council Committee requires every student to join a club? It's even better if a student creates a club that will represent SY's diverse student body. Failure to do so will result in automatic expulsion."

Yamato merely listened as he took note of his strong grip on the paper before placing it on the wall closest to him, mind wandering through his thoughts regarding his high school's extremely stringent policies. He was keen to notice the intrusive array of multicolored sticky notes plastered near the lines where club member signatures were to be signed on. The notes covered deadlines and club member attendee requirements. It even featured the possible choices for the name of the club, which were heavily underlined and filled with strikethroughs.

The amount of bullshitting he could endure was limited to that of a tiny grain of rice making up what was one-thousandth portion of an empty donburi bowl, meaning 'very little'. Of course, he didn't believe that that was the case, but he decided to pick the lesser of two evils, which was apparently joining 'The Useless Quirk Club' up until he gets to the bottom of this so-called expulsion threat. And he wasn't even going to lie that he found himself pitying Hanabimura-san's lofty dreams of running his demented club. Who the hell knows what kinds of people this club will attract?

This one act of unwilling surrender from the black cat beast led to a satisfied, relieved sigh as soon as Makoto's hands had a firm hold on his club member form, snatching it as fast as he could. The latter informed him that they shouldn't dally, slowly but surely making their way to the third floor of the first campus building. Both soon reached the floor where their club room was located only to spot an outline of a girl near the entrance of said room, making Yamato glare daggers at his acquaintance since he assumed that the other person was readily available for this guy to advertise his grand idea to. However, Makoto's hesitant tone towards the stranger was not what the former expected. "E-Excuse me. This is our club roo-"

"Hm?" When the two got closer, the slightly voluptuous figure and strong, long legs belonging to that of an extremely attractive bubble-gum pink haired girl could be admired as she turned to look their way. She carried a clipboard with her, raising an eyebrow, which effectively made them both stop in place as if her very presence was enough to render them speechless. She looked quite powerful because of her choice to wear slacks, which went well with her confident posture.

The black cat beast immediately matched face and body to that of earlier orientation's Student Council Committee's Vice President, Momotani Momiji. From inside the room came a slender male whose scent Yamato could spot as being that of a fox beast. The fox's upturned slitted eyes matched the sharpness of his claws as they lightly raked the wood of the sliding door's casing frame. "Who's giving ya trouble, Momiji?"

Hanabimura didn't even hesitate at the sight of the taller fox beast that came out of the room to see what the problem was. "This is OUR club room. If you're checking the clubroom facilities, then that means that you're considering assigning this room to another club."

Even Yamato knew better to back down when it comes to stronger males, watching the fox with a hawk's eye's level of focus while grabbing Makoto's head and forcing him to bow respectfully to his seniors. This act alone made the fox back away a bit just as the feminine hand on his shoulder pulled him back, which gave way to the Student Council's V.P. before she flipped through a few sheets of paper with a slight tilt to her head. "The Useless Quirk Club..."

"What kind of name is that?"

"Akizaki-san, here." The older girl stated as she handed her colleague the clipboard to view the document. Akizaki Inari, the Student Council Committee's Secretary, couldn't help but shake his head at the sight of it just as Makoto looked up and presented the folded and creased form to her.

"Yes, I am in charge of 'The Useless Quirk Club!' I go by the name Hanabimura Makoto, First Year Student of Seishin Yuushou Private High School, and my information could be found in the form provided to you by the Head Advisory Committee Counselor!" The brunette's voice was slightly shaky as he announced his particular involvement in this club, but Momotani's soft mint-green eyes met those of Yamato's as he slowly stood up straight after his polite bow, making the black cat both flustered and worried all at the same time.

"Morikawa Yamato?"

One of Yamato's ears flicked in recognition of his name along with the soft sound of the sticky notes being plucked off the paper one after another. He couldn't have anticipated what would reach his ears, easily blindsided after one simple question left her plump, sakura-coloured lips.

"You must be The Useless Quirk Club's Vice President then… Am I right?"

"Eh?" Came Yamato's reply, an indescribable look on his face.

'You've gotta be kidding me...'

Seishin Yuushou Private High School

Student Council Committee

President - Takahashi Shuunsuke

Vice President - Momotani Momiji

Secretary - Akizaki Inari

Treasurer - Todoroki Hajime

Seishin Yuushou's Student Council Committee had recently been tasked to enforce a mandate concerning student body involvement in its unique array of organizations and clubs available for all students attending the academy. Due to prior years seeing a decline in club attendance in most organizations and clubs as well as seeing a stagnation in student social well-being, the Principal, Vice Principal, and Administration Staff all sighed the Student Engagement Policy.

Seishin Yuushou's Mandatory Student Engagement Law reads as follows:

Starting from April 8th, 2259, all students are REQUIRED to become a full-fledged member of at least one club or organization spanning all three years of enrollment. Attending a nationally recognized academic setting like that of Seishin Yuushou Private High School requires its students to perform high in both academic and social settings. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action and/or expulsion.

Yo! Lessssss goooooo :D

I'm glad I finished Chapter One tonight! I usually tend to write shorter chapters, so my bad, but I'm liking where it's going so far. Also, I would love to know what you guys think so far in the 'Reviews' section.

Also, a huge reminder that if you have any questions regarding the form that you ask me through DMs. I am heavily debating whether or not to have a Discord server, although I'm not counting on making one as I like keeping everything in one place.

Again, I'd like to thank everyone for giving my story a read. Until next time!
