Of Predators & Prey
The inside of the nightclub is sleek and dark, and a bit chaotic, with the flashing lights and loud electronic music; people, most of them in their late twenties and early thirties, twisted and swayed their bodies to the beat, much oblivious to any other thing than this sense of earthly enjoyment. After all, what could be a better way to spend the night than having a few drinks, let it loose on the dance floor and then hook up with a stranger.
Unfortunately that was not why the ginger was there on this night. It had been the reason she had been there four months before when her life had been going in a completely different direction. It had been the reason she had been there when her life had changed irrecoverably.
Now the redhead was at this club to find those like the one who had preyed upon her. She had found three since that fateful night, at other clubs in the area, but this was the first time she had returned to the scene of the crime against her.
Her keen eyes scanned the club, looking for a target to lock on, but it was her sense of smell that alerted Chloe. The scent that captured Chloe's attention was familiar yet different. She was still getting used to her newborn abilities, and sometimes they were more than she could handle. This was happening less and less, but still there were times.
She didn't think that was the problem this time.
The more she moved through the club though, the more Chloe knew there was something more to it. If Chloe were asked to describe it, it was like a magnet was pulling at her.
She was halfway through the club, and the pull was becoming more than she could handle. Looking in that direction, she was soon able to pinpoint the source of the pull. She was at the bar, a young woman with dark brown hair reaching past just past her shoulders. She was impeccably dressed in a strapless, backless black dress, and was currently sipping her cocktail all the while acting as if she wasn't paying any heed to the noisy, raucous dance floor, though Chloe was quite sure the opposite was the case.
A woman?
A drop dead gorgeous woman.
Chloe hadn't come across a female before. She wasn't sure what to do with that information. She was pretty sure the woman was what she had come here to find, but even across the distance she could sense something was different.
The redhead pondered on this for a few minutes, but in the end decided to make her move. She couldn't take the risk, her new found senses were just that, new, and she was still learning them. With the decision made, and practiced ease, Chloe straightened her dress and fluffed her hair a little, making sure she looked her best.
She glided her way through the crowd and towards the woman who had caught her attention. She skillfully slipped up to the bar as close as she could get to the brunette without looking too obvious. The bartender behind the bar eyed Chloe as she approached. Her eyes flickered up and down the redhead's body and gave an appreciative smile. The redhead smiled back and indicated the drink the brunette was nursing, and held up two fingers. The bartender nodded and went to work making the drinks.
Smoothly Chloe slipped onto the seat near the petite brunette, using the movement to get a better look at her. She had to admit, up close the brunette was somehow even more beautiful. As Chloe surreptitiously studied the woman next to her, her mind began to automatically catalog the woman's features. From her current position she could only see the brunette's profile, but her enhanced senses allowed her greater insight. The woman was petite, actually smaller than Chloe, but had a power that seemed to radiate off her. Her hair was a luxurious chocolate brown, with loose curls falling around her face, which was classically beautiful.
The brunette affected an air of nonchalance, but Chloe's senses told her that the brunette was completely focused on her.
The redhead smiled as the bartender handed her her drink, and placed the second in front of the brunette.
The brunette raised an eyebrow at the bartender, who nodded towards the redhead. After a moment, the woman seemed to make a decision, and she brought the drink to her lips, but before taking a sip, asked "To what do I owe this?"
"Do I need a reason to buy a beautiful woman a drink?" Chloe answered with a question.
"Oh, you do this a lot?" The brunette asked.
"You're the first," Chloe replied smoothly.
"I feel honored," the woman smirked. "Why might I ask?"
"Not sure," Chloe responded honestly. "It just felt like the right thing to do."
"Very confident of you," the brunette said.
"I'm pretty confident about all of this," Chloe shimmied in her seat.
"You should be," the petite woman said into her drink.
"Why thank you."
Raising the drink in salute, she said, "Thank you."
"You're very welcome," Chloe replied before sipping her own drink.
The brunette turned slightly in her seat, and Chloe studied her for a moment, trying to figure out what this feeling in her chest was, even as she felt the other woman return the favor. Chloe found herself appreciating the other woman in a way she had never done before. This woman was stunning, yes, but there was something else Chloe couldn't quite put her finger on. The brunette had shoulder length brown hair which framed her face perfectly. A face that had an elegant beauty, slender yet strong, and the most beautiful eyes. The redhead was now close enough for Chloe to distinguish the other woman's eye color, a unique storm-gray blue that was truly captivating.
With a confident smirk, the brunette asked, "See something you like?"
There was something about the petite woman that drew Chloe in. She knew from the moment she sensed her that the woman had a wolf, but Chloe's senses also told her that there was more to the brunette than what meets the eye. With a smirk, Chloe replied, "Maybe."
As she watched, the brunette tilted her head ever-so-slightly, her silent but curious gaze boring into Chloe's. For what it's worth, the woman seemed to make a decision, which included continuing this interaction with Chloe.
With that the two women fell into easy conversation. At first it was light, shallow, with nothing of consequence. Both women were feeling out the other while attempting to not give anything away. A verbal chess match the likes of which Chloe had never participated in before.
Still at some point, Chloe knew she had to determine if the woman beside her was a wolf in sheep's clothing. She decided to steer the questions to hopefully find out.
"So are you from around here?" Chloe asked.
"In a way."
"Vague of you," Chloe observed.
"I like my mysteries," the brunette countered.
Chloe felt a bit of irritation at the non-committal answers from the brunette but she saw her smirking out of the corner of her eye, and knew the woman was playing with her.
The redhead decided to go for something more direct. "What brings you here then?"
"I have a feeling the same thing as you," Beca replied, still keeping her air of mystery.
"And what is that?" Chloe smirked as she leaned closer to the brunette beauty sitting besides her, stirring the straw in her glass. She affected a sultry look, with heavy-lidded and lust-filled eyes focused on Beca.
For a second Beca narrowed her eyes at Chloe and seemed to debate her next move. "I think you know."
"Do I?" Two could play the vague game.
"You wanna get out of here?" Beca asked. "It's a bit loud in here."
"Now who's the one showing confidence?" Chloe smirked.
"It's nice having such a beautiful woman to proposition, I'm just embracing the experience." The brunette said with a smirk.
"Somehow I find that very hard to believe." Chloe replied with a raised eyebrow, "I get the feeling there are many trying to get a chance to be with you."
"You flatter me, but sadly no," Beca replied. "So, you're stalling, what do you say?"
In that moment, between the beats of her heart, Chloe contemplated what her answer should be. She was sure that this woman was of a kind that had preyed upon her, but at the same time there was a noticeable difference. She still felt the predator, but for an entirely different game, and for much different reasons.
After a heartbeat, the redhead responded, "Yeah, I would like that."
Both women rose from their seats after closing their tabs, and headed towards the main entrance.
It was a relief as Chloe stepped out of the main doors. She was learning to dial down her senses, but she was still learning control. A club was like sensory overload. She was surprised her quarry hunted there at all, but it was a target rich environment.
"I'm Chloe by the way" the redhead said as they passed through the doors.
"My name is Beca," replied the brunette as they continued to walk. Both automatically headed for the path into the nearby forest.
It was one of the patterns Chloe had initially hit upon. The bss as is and nightclubs where the ones she stalked liked to their hunting were out of the way locations, often on the edge of town, near forests and or parks. That Beca was at this particular club, and had immediately headed for the woods raised serious concerns for Chloe.
As such, neither commented that taking a walk in the woods this late at night was either strange or out of the ordinary. They both walked the bike path into the forest as if they were on a Sunday afternoon stroll.
To be fair, it felt natural for Chloe to walk next to Beca. She didn't sense any of the uncomfortable vibes that she had felt from the others. At the same time, the woods were beginning to feel more natural for her. Always a city-girl prior to the incident, now the forest was more her element. The air in the woods smelled cleaner, with just a touch of fallen foliage that permeates the autumn air. There was a crispness, not quite cold, but chillier than cool. It was quiet, much quieter than the club obviously, but the forest at night wasn't silent. The sounds were more subtle, more hidden, but easily discernible with Chloe's enhanced hearing.
Being in the woods for Chloe was a thousand times better than in the club, because it was so natural. Even more so because she was walking with the petite brunette. Ever since her change, Chloe had been drawn to all things natural, as if her body now wanted to reject the artificiality of today's society, yet never more so than tonight.
It was a full moon this night—the irony not lost on Chloe. The light of the moon plus her heightened eyesight made the forest easy to see even this late at night. When she looked up, she could see the moon through the leaves and branches. There was a supernatural pull of the orb that called to her. When combined with the draw of the woman next to her, it took all of Chloe's self control not to transform.
The full moon—she had started keeping track of course, because it defined the cycle of her new life. It's why she was out that night, it's when the predators were most likely to hunt. She knew that the petite brunette was on a hunt, but for some reason she didn't think it was the same as those Chloe had encountered before her.
The two walked in comfortable silence with no destination in mind, both just enjoying the near silence of the woods. This should have been odd for Chloe, but after the incident, nothing truly felt that odd anymore. She felt and heard her heels as they crunched through the fallen leaves, the scent of autumn filling her lungs.
At some point Chloe had worked her arm around the brunette's, Beca's, waist, and Beca had unknowingly leaned into the touch. The redhead smelled cinnamon and apples on Beca's scent and it made her feel warm. There was an unknown draw to the petite brunette that caught Chloe by surprise, but it was unmistakable. Her body was reacting to the smaller woman in a way it had never done before; even the hairs on her arms and legs were standing straight up, almost as if an electricity was coursing between the two women.
This was having an effect on her inner wolf. It was trying to come out in a way that had never occurred before. Something about the brunette was calling to it, but Chloe knew it was neither to fight or defend. Beca wasn't the prey the others had been. Chloe had learned on the night of the incident that danger was her inner wolf's first language, so she knew it wasn't what it was speaking that night.
And to be honest, she thought there was a good chance Beca was feeling the same.
"Now nights with a full moon are always so special," Beca whispered, though Chloe had no trouble hearing her.
The redhead came to a stop, her hand in Beca's, gently pulled the brunette to a stop, in a spot where the moonlight was particularly bright. The petite brunette turned so she was facing the redhead, who took this opportunity to lean forward and captured the other woman's lips. The kiss was soft and warm, and it took all of Chloe's inner-discipline to resist making it more.
The petite woman however seemed to want more, and the kiss became more heated, which made it harder for Chloe to resist her primal urges. Soon the kiss had transformed to something strong and demanding from each woman.
"You're not what I was expecting tonight," Chloe observed, slightly out of breath when they finally broke apart. She rested her forehead against Beca's. Each woman was staring into the eyes of the other.
Neither set of eyes were human at that moment.
Neither woman was surprised by this.
"You're definitely not what I was expecting," replied Beca.
"Were you expecting me?" Chloe asked, her senses suddenly alert.
"I was sent to hunt you," Beca answered honestly.
Chloe tensed, but didn't pull away. Something about this whole situation seemed different than her past encounters. "And I was hunting…" she trailed off, then finished, "… but I don't think I was hunting you."
"No?" Beca arched her eyebrow, and smirked in a way that made Chloe want to take her right there. Something about the other woman called to her animal side in a way she had never felt before.
"Do you also want to know what your smell makes me want to do to you?" Beca asked in a husky voice, much deeper than her voice had been.
Taking in Beca's scent, Chloe practically growled, "I think I already know."
And the two women shared another kiss under the moonlight, but this time neither woman held back. Chloe let her primal side surge forth in a way she had never done before. It wasn't like before when she fully released the animal within her, but almost as if she were projecting towards the other her internal essence. At the same time she felt the same projection from the brunette.
Chloe felt like her universe expanded tenfold.
With senses now fully exposed to the brunette's touch and scent Chloe recognized the brunette's true nature.
The wolf inside her projected the words into the forefront of her mind.
An Alpha!
"Surprise!" Beca said with a knowing smirk as if she could read Chloe's wolf's thoughts.
Chloe was shocked. She had never approached an 'Alpha' before. To be honest she didn't know how she instinctively knew what an Alpha, or a Beta, and or an Omega was. It was like the wolf had brought with it a plethora of knowledge that was locked into its very essence.
Again, almost as if she could read Chloe's thoughts, Beca said, "I've never been picked up by another Alpha."
"I'm still new."
"You're new?" Beca asked in surprise, her features actually betraying her feelings for the first time.
The redhead caught the shock of the smaller woman, and could smell the change in her scent. Something about that statement had changed the moment, but she didn't know what, so she answered carefully and truthfully, "Yes."
"You were turned?" Beca asked for confirmation, her surprise even more evident in the rising timber of her voice. She had never heard of a Turned being an Alpha. Almost invariably the Turned were Omegas.
The connection between the two women made this all known to Chloe almost as if it were being transmitted to her from Beca.
Then something else caught her attention, something just touching her senses.
At the same moment Beca tensed. She sensed it too.
"Something's wrong," Chloe growled.
A long howl echoed through the trees, taken up by another throat and then another. There was a howl close by and another in the distance, then another, in the opposite direction. Soon there were howls all around them in the dark, from which footsteps could be heard coming from all around the two of them. Looking around Chloe's wolf-eyes saw numerous figures both human and wolves moving closer.
"Congratulations Rebecca," came a voice from the shadows. It was a deep male voice coming from behind the two women. Both turned around and saw the person who spoke approaching. He was flanked by two wolves.
"On what Theo," Beca asked as more people and wolves were starting to form a circle around the two women. "Why are you and your pack here?" Beca demanded in a much firmer voice.
Chloe uttered a primal growl that was shockingly deep for such a young petite woman, it caught Beca off-guard as well as the pack who all backed up.
Save for the bearded man who had spoken before. He alone stood his ground and replied to Beca in a distinct British accent, "It's now midnight and you brought us Thomas's murder."
This caused Chloe to take two steps back from Beca as she hissed, "You're with Tom!"
"No!" Beca shouted back, but then added, "Kind of…" As those around the two started to growl. "Something is not right, Theo."
"Everything is exactly right, Rebecca, the Council of Elders sent you to track down a rogue wolf who had killed four of our pack, and here you delivered the bitch."
Both Chloe and Beca growled in response. This time the bearded man did step back.
"Wrong," Beca replied. "I was sent by the Council to investigate, not to execute. I'm taking her to the Council."
This caused all the beings in the circle to growl.
"She killed four of our pack, we have the ancient right to exact justice," Theo intoned.
"I was attacked by the first, and two young women and one boy were saved from my fate because of my intervention," Chloe shouted in defiance. She had hunched a bit, and taken an aggressive stance.
"See! She admits it!" One of the pack shouts.
"What I heard was that this pack is hunting illegally," Beca cut in. "This will definitely be brought to the Council."
"That's the way it should go," Theo admitted, but then he lamented, "It's too bad that instead you were felled, when you bravely tried bringing the rogue to justice on your own. Tragic really."
The wolf to Theo's right immediately leapt at Beca. Chloe immediately transformed into her wolf shape.
Just as she had when Tom first bit her, Chloe transformed at a near instantaneous rate. The redhead had actually grown used to the intense pain of her bones reconfiguring, as they slid into different positions. Her eyes turned golden in a blink. Her skin stretched to accommodate the new form and cinnamon colored fur covered her. Her nose turned into a snout and her eyesight shifted to an inhuman spectrum that made night seem like day.. Her teeth sharpened into natural canines. Her fingernails grew into dark black claws. Her ears settled into a pointed shape. She landed on all fours, her paws feeling the soft forest floor beneath them.
Even with the startling speed with which she could change, Chloe knew she would be too late to protect Beca, which burned at her. Something about protecting the petite woman was like a primal urge. She knew she might not be able to save Beca, but she would be able to make these animals pay.
For her part, Beca didn't transform, she barely seemed to move, until the wolf was committed to his attack. Then suddenly in an explosive move, Beca unleashed a spinning kick with way more power than a person her size should possess. The outside of her right foot caught the charging wolf's head square. The force was enough to snap the wolf's neck and send it flying into the path of the wolf that sought to attack Chloe's cinnamon-colored wolf.
This timely intervention forced the attacking wolf to pause, which gave Chloe's wolf the advantage she needed. Ironically the petite red haired woman was actually a rather large wolf. Much larger than the brown beta in front of her. She caught her assailant by the throat, her bite drawing both blood and whimpers, and with a flick of her head sent the smaller wolf flying into others that formed the circle.
Theo began to transform, but not nearly as fast as Beca and Chloe had, so suddenly he was hit by a mass of cinnamon fur and muscle, his breath knocked out of him as he was pinned by Chloe. She thought about finishing him immediately, but the surrounding wolves began to converge.
"Go!" Beca shouted. She had surreptitiously pulled two small orbs from a pocket in her dress. She pitched them behind even as she transformed into a large chocolate brown wolf. The orbs exploded, in a bright and loud flash-bang that disoriented the wolves there. It gave Beca the opportunity to chase after Chloe.
A long howl echoed through the trees, taken up by more as the hunt was on. They're everywhere, always chasing, always ready and if Chloe slows she knows she'll fall to them. She has no idea how many wolves, or werewolves there are, but she knows that there are enough to take her and Beca down.
For some reason the thought of Beca being hurt is more terrifying than whatever the wolves have planned for her.
The cinnamon wolf ran on instinct, as Chloe knew she was prey. Despite being a new wolf, Chloe had natural grace to maneuver easily between and through the trees. She was quite fast, but the pack chasing after her was equally swift, but also quite strong, and had the experience to work together in synchronization. It was quite obvious, even from Chloe's limited experience as a wolf, the pack she was being pursued by were both vicious and primal.
All the while the howls drew nearer, and nearer. Staying just out of sight. They were trying to make Chloe afraid, and it was working. Her heart hammered against her chest, faster than it had done ever before. Her enhanced vision sought out the shadows lurking in the darkness, casting images of fear and foreboding to the young wolf.
The cinnamon wolf heard Beca growl from behind her. A quick backward glance revealed that while Chloe had maintained a lead, the chocolate wolf that is Beca was close behind. As the chocolate brown wolf ran up next to her, Chloe felt a deep sense of relief.
Breathing harshly out of her nose, the cinnamon wolf looked about trying to determine where she was going to flee to.
A howl pierced the air. Chloe cut left and made her way through the thick thicket of trees. She felt herself growing more frantic when more howls pierced the once quiet night air. She scanned the darkness with the hope of spying the pursuing wolves. Her heightened eyesight didn't see anything, but her heightened hearing did hear the snap of a twig behind a tree in front of her so she spun to the right and shot in a new direction.
A giant wolf sprung from the bushes and launched itself at her. The chocolate wolf connected with the side of the black furred wolf and that slowed it, with a loud whine as the creature dropped to the ground with a thud, but even as Chloe continued her run, she noted the beast leapt up and continued its pursuit almost immediately.
The cinnamon colored wolf couldn't spend to much time worrying about this because another group of six wolves came charging out of the night, forcing Chloe and Beca to veer sharply to their right. Though as soon as the two were past those six, the chocolate wolf started to veer back to the left, nudging Chloe in that direction. It became apparent why to Chloe when she saw four more wolves appearing out of the darkness they had been running towards.
They were heading for another stand of trees when Beca in her wolf form leapt forward a split second before a black furred wolf emerged from behind a tree just ten feet ahead. The chocolate wolf landed directly on top of the black wolf a black shadow against the night, causing it to yelp in pain.
On instinct Chloe leaped over Beca and dropped her head. Another wolf had appeared just beyond Beca, and Chloe's wolf rammed it full force with her head. With a flick she catapulted this new mottled grey wolf away; to where she was not sure. In the back of her mind she realized she smelled the wolf rather than seeing it.
With that both Beca and Chloe were off again, with at least a dozen wolves following.
Follow!
The thought seemed to be projected directly into Chloe's mind, yet she's sure it was Beca's voice. The chocolate wolf overtook Chloe, then took a sharp left, which Chloe easily followed. It was a good move as many of the pursuing wolves in their larger bulky forms tended to skid when trying to turn, and so gave Chloe and Beca a bit of time and space.
The chocolate wolf led the two through the thinning woods of the park and towards the river. This surprised Chloe, she figured the two would be trapped. Still for some reason she trusted the other wolf, and felt a little relief as the growls, snarls and howls fell behind.
Suddenly Beca in wolf form was out of the trees and loping along a bike path towards a pedestrian bridge that crosses over the river. The chocolate wolf stopped on a dime and spun about. Chloe followed suit, then suddenly realized what Beca had planned. No one not on the path could see them due to the sides of the bridge, yet both Beca and Chloe filled the width of the pedestrian bridge. The pursuing wolf pack could only come at them two at a time. Their numbers were no longer as much an advantage.
The pack realized this and halted on the path. It left a dozen wolves milling about just off the bridge. Again, a primal instinct told Chloe that among the pack were only Betas and a few Omegas, but there wasn't an Alpha. The redhead wasn't sure where this knowledge came from, but she knew it was true.
Chloe could also tell the pack of wolves was wary of facing two Alphas.
At a certain point the redhead realized Beca had shifted from her wolf form, but was even more shocked to realize that Beca wasn't really human either. Instead she's transformed into a hybrid between human and wolf. The first thing Chloe noticed were her eyes; they are a bright and unnatural gold. They stood out from Beca's soft brown fur that still covers her body. The next thing she noticed were Beca's claws; her fingers ended in six inch claws that looked razor sharp.
This was not an ability Chloe was aware of, but the other wolves seemed to recognize it. The whole demeanor of the wolves was to look skittish and for some even timidity. A few more wolves appeared, and Chloe can see they have an undeniable hunger, a thirst for something much, much more that keeps them there. Their bared fangs and sharpened claws directed at Chloe and Beca as they seemed to be psyching themselves up.
One wolf began barking at the others, and Chloe could tell the black furred wolf was goading the pack into action. The cinnamon wolf set itself as two wolves broke off the pack and made their way up the bridge. They were halfway to the two alphas when Beca lashed out. With speed that Chloe had never seen before, the chocolate wolf hybrid was suddenly upon the two wolves, slashing and kicking with both intense savagery, yet also expert precision.
Another two wolves immediately bolted from the pack and towards Beca. Chloe, still in wolf form crouched then sprung, leaping in one bound over Beca and the two wolves she was battling. Chloe landed just a couple feet in front of a grey wolf, immediately leaping again so her wolf rammed the grey full force. The collision was like a serious car crash, the impact shocking to Chloe.
The second wolf immediately slammed into Chloe's cinnamon, stopping her from getting a clean bite on the wolf she was attacking. Her fight with the two devolved into a chaotic jumble of bites, claws, and quick movements as she bit, and moved to avoid the snaps of the other wolves. Heavy claws raked at Chloe's left shoulder, cutting her deep. She howled in pain, blood rushing from her torn flesh, and instinctively snapped her jaws on the back of the wolf that had wounded her. That wolf let out a pitiful yelp, as Chloe bit deep, tearing apart the wolf flesh.
She was pretty sure she injured that wolf enough that it had to pull out of the fight, but another had taken its place. She had suffered a number of bites, and taken even more claw cuts on her body. Still she had given better than she had taken.
Another wolf came at her, and Chloe raised up on her hind legs, catching the wolf with her front paws. Her left paw catching the wolf's head and slamming it against the side of the bridge. She held the struggling and biting wolf, holding it at bay, but Chloe was tiring. Another wolf appeared directly in front of her, but left itself open, and Chloe's wolf surged forward and bit down on the wolf's throat. The metallic taste of blood flooded her senses, taste, touch, and smell. She heard the pitiful whimper of the wounded wolf, and Chloe regretted it had come to this, even as her wolf's instinct shook her victim, ensuring the other wolf's head slammed against the other wall of the bridge. Unfortunately this action left the cinnamon wolf exposed, and she could sense the approach of two more greys, but could do nothing to defend herself.
The feel of a hand on her back should have gone unnoticed, but the touch was warm and rejuvenating. It lasted only a heartbeat as Beca used her back as a springboard to vault over Chloe and intercept the charging wolves. Beca flew through the air with incredible grace, and in midair transitioned to full wolf so when she slammed into the hard charging wolves it was with the full mass of her wolf.
Chloe could only stop and watch as Beca smoothly shifted from wolf to hybrid and back to wolf, whichever form gave her the greatest advantage in fighting the pack she seemed to naturally flow into. She was beautiful in her fury, and incredible in the terror she invoked.
In a matter of minutes she had cowed or wounded all of the pack, save one who did not approach. Instead the wolf shifted into its human form.
Theo.
Chloe transformed to her human form, coming to stand next to Beca, who also was now in her human form. That Theo stood nude before them reminded Chloe that she and Beca were both naked. This only bothered Chloe because Theo was obviously leering at the two women.
Despite his pack having just been thoroughly beaten, Theo stood defiant. "You'll pay for this, Beca!" His eyes glowed unnaturally red with his rage.
"I don't think so, Theo," Beca responded smoothly.
"My father!" Theo spluttered, "Tom's father! They will not stand for this!"
"Tom was hunting illegally," Beca responded. "Your whole pack has. You attacked a duly assigned representative of the Council of Elders. I'm not too worried about your fathers." Beca crossed her arms and stared down the Beta.
Understanding seemed to recognize the weak position he was in, the fire in his eyes seemed to dim, but seemed to decide bluster was the best course of action. From the woods, a handful of female Omegas emerged carrying stacks of folded clothes and shoes. They quickly passed the clothes out, and the pack quickly began to dress. Chloe couldn't help notice that the males, Betas especially were harsh to the women, who were timid and kept their eyes on the ground. She wanted to snarl at these mongrels for their poor behavior, but held back as she didn't want to trigger a new fight. The growl that came from the petite brunette told Chloe that Beca didn't feel any hesitation to letting her feelings be known.
Having finished getting dressed, Theo raised his arm and pointed a finger at Chloe. "That bitch killed Tom."
The redhead couldn't help notice that the petite brunette subtly shifted so she was partially shielding the redhead.
"He attacked me!" Chloe shouted back. "I only fought back after he bit me
"You realize that if Chloe killed Tom," Beca started. "Then as Alpha, she has the right to lead your pack."
This had in fact not dawned on the pack, half of which had now transformed back to their human forms.
Shouts of disbelief began to rise from the pack along with howls of distaste from the wolves.
"What?!"
"NO!"
"NEVER!"
"BITCHES ARE OMEGAS!"
"We will NEVER be led by a BITCH!" Spittle flew from Theo's mouth as he shouted.
The growls from both women caused the pack to step back.
"You want to go another round?" Beca asked, her beautiful voice taking a distinct guttural bark as she transformed into the hybrid.
The pack fell back a few more feet. All, save for Theo showing their wounds and bruises received from these two women.
"This isn't over!" Theo shouted before leading the pack away.
"Probably not," Beca grumbled, watching the departing pack of men with equal measure distrust and distaste. When she could no longer see any of them, even with her enhanced vision, the brunette turned her attention to the redhead.
Silence lingered between the two as they took in each other. It was Beca that finally broke the silence, "So?"
"So…" Chloe started, but suddenly her head felt light and her vision was fuzzy. The world began to spin, and her knees suddenly buckled with the exhaustion she felt after running and fighting for so long. Her wounds were still bleeding and she grew faint, the last thing she saw was concerned golden eyes as she fell into the arms of the other woman.
Pitch Perfect SpookFest
Chloe started to wake, her eyes fluttering open. She was waking up in the bedroom of a strange apartment laying on a strange bed. She was puzzled at first, then panicked as memories from the night before suddenly flooded her consciousness.
Sensing somebody was in the bed with her, Chloe flipped over and straddled the person next to her. Her hands gripped each side of the person's head, Beca's head. Her eyes were staring fiercely into the petite woman's eyes and she uttered a deep growl. When the other woman made no move, Chloe looked about the room and then back at Beca, all the while she continued to growl menacingly.
Still not moving, Beca cleared her throat and in a soft voice whispered, "Chlo.", but she got no response from Chloe.
"Chloe," Beca tried again, but Chloe was still lost to her. Beca could tell that at this moment Chloe had no control over what she was doing, this was Chloe lost to her wolf.
Chloe!
Beca projected her voice directly into the redhead's mind. This got the redhead's attention. Shy looked down into Beca's eyes. As the eye contact was made, Chloe seemed to settle down a little bit. The redhead leaned down, brought her nose close to Beca and smelled her neck. This was another part of Chloe's wolf instincts. As she sniffed Beca's scent, all she could think was,
Mine, Mine, Mine!
The petite woman beneath Chloe smirked up at the redhead, and said quite confidently, "Yours."
Chloe pushed the brunette down against the mattress while at the same time pushed her lips into Beca's for an absolutely bruising kiss. Their lips felt like fire against each other's as both demanded dominance, yet Beca couldn't stop herself from giving into the redhead. Before long, Chloe's tongue was exploring Beca's mouth and they were fighting over dominance again. Beca could feel her eyes drift back to Chloe's and the pull of her own wolf instincts.
At this point Chloe changed tactics, and began kissing Beca's neck. At first, she let Chloe kiss and suck her neck, even leaving purple bruises. It was only when Beca felt Chloe's teeth grazing against her neck that she took back some initiative, "Chloe. Chloe! CHLOE!"
Chloe pulled back and immediately her eyes changed to reveal her human blue color. She looked confused, still holding Beca down on the mattress. She looked about the room again, then down at the brunette, who Chloe seemed to notice for the first time.
"Beca?" Her voice was dry and raspy. "Where am I?"
"I brought you back to my place," Beca answered calmly.
"Why?" Chloe asked, still trying to get her bearings.
Before she could answer, Beca felt Chloe's arms beginning to shake from the strain of keeping herself up. Beca quickly took a hold of Chloe's waist and gently guided her down onto the bed. As her body touched the mattress, Chloe winced and tensed her muscles against the pain, "It hurts." She mumbled.
Beca pointed to the bandages on the redhead's body, particularly the shoulder, a wrap around her waist. "I'm afraid you took a few deep gashes during the fight. Even with our healing, it takes time, and still hurts like a mother fucker."
A quick observation of Beca, showed Chloe the other woman was only wearing a large T-shirt which covered only what it needed to. "You don't seem as beat up as me."
"I've been a wolf for a long time," the brunette smirked.
The answer intrigued Chloe, so the question poured out immediately, "How long?"
The smirk only grew as Beca replied, "A lady never says."
This pulled a chuckle from the redhead. She looked at her state of dress, another large T-shirt "Did we…?" Chloe asked as she gestured to Beca and herself with a nod of her head.
"You don't remember?" Beca asked in shocked outrage.
"Ummm…"
Beca giggled and bit her lip. While it did look like they had had sex, Beca knew they hadn't. She saw the confusion on the redhead and assured her, "No, we didn't Chloe.."
The redhead fell back onto her back, and let out a deep sigh of relief as she covered her eyes with her forearm. "Thank God…" She stopped as she realized what she had just said aloud. She peaked out from under her arm, at the brunette. For her part Beca had raised her right eyebrow, though her smirk showed there was no heat in her response. "Ummm-I didn't mean that. It would have been fine, ummm-I mean-I want to at least be able to remember it the first time."
Beca cut off the redhead's rambling with a chuckle. "Trust me, I want you to remember our first time too."
Now it was the redhead's turn to smirk, "Oh? You think there's going to be a first time?"
"Oh, I know there's going to be a first time," Beca answered confidently.
"Yeah?"
"Yes."
"And why, pray tell, are you so confident about that?" Chloe asked with a grin. She was truly enjoying the banter with the other woman, and was pretty confident that they would get together, but she did want to hear the other woman's reasoning.
The petite brunette's face suddenly took a more serious look. And there was no teasing or flirting as she explained.
"Because you, Chloe, are my mate."

Notes:
Hope you enjoyed my third installment of Pitch Perfect SpookFest 2022. Love a good Werewolf story, hopefully you think this was a good one. There will be more with these characters as part of SpookFest 2022.
As always, I do not own any of the characters of Pitch Perfect, but wouldn't they make great characters in horror movies?
