Star Butterfly, is known for a lot of things. You may know her as the spunky, young princess of Mewni. The one finally defeated Toffee, the immortal monster. Along with discovering the truth about her family, which eventually led to her giving the throne to Eclipsa. Then some stuff happened, yada yada yada, which led to her destroying magic and the merging of Mewni and Earth into one dimension.

Oh wait I'm mistaken this happened in a different universe. And how do I know that well I am Sir Glossaryck of Terms perhaps you've heard of me. Yes, yes there are many universes and magic remains in full swing in many of them. Now I suppose I should tell about the universe I am apart of.

While yes in this universe, Star destroyed Toffee by achieving her golden butterfly form, the story isn't exactly the same. You see Star never gave the throne to Eclipsa, instead once Moon was recovered for the Realm of Magic she was deemed unfit to rule and Eclipsa was appointed Queen Regent. With the two of them working together the relationship between Monsters and Mewmans. And upon her 18th birthday was crowned Queen Star the Rebellious of Mewni. Afterwards she married her sweetheart Marco Diaz of Earth and the two of them had a daughter they named Harmony. And yet with all that, Star still feels like there is something missing.

Harmony, that girl is very unlike her mother. She takes pride in being princess of Mewni and all that comes with it. While she does struggle with spells she is getting better and no doubt will make a great queen some day.

Oh but this story is not about her. No, no, no. This story follows someone else. For you see long ago a dimension was locked away from the others. And no one has been able to enter or exit it in many years. Well, no one except a young Mewiman boy and I think it's about you meet him.

The cold breeze blew across Artemis's face. He grunted a little before adjusting the scarf wrapped around his face. Slowly he raised his arm before slamming the axe down upon the wood front of him. He examined the wood over before nodding to himself and placing it upon the already chopped wood.

"That should be enough," he said beaming at his work. He looked up at the sky seeing the sun starting to set. "Should be getting home don't want to be out to late."

He walked over to the end of the sled where the wood was. He grabbed the end of the rope and slung it over his shoulder. Trudging through the snow, he made sure to keep a steady pace. Both hands grasping on the rope tightly, even with the wind furiously hitting his face. Soon he saw a small light in front of him. Smiling, he picked up the pace before reaching the tiny cottage he called home.

"Father is home early!" he cheered in a whisper, once he saw a light in the kitchen. He moved his sled to the side of his house before picking up a few pieces of wood and heading inside.

"There you are Artemis," his father said as Artemis walked into the house. "I figured you were chopping more wood."

"I saw we were low this morning." Artemis smiled as he walked pasted his father. Making his face to the fireplace, he placed most of the logs beside it before placing one on the flame and poked it with the fire stick to get it to start. He turned to his father, who was reaching in the cabinet and pulled out a small vial.

"I think I can make this last another week," he mumbled to himself. Quickly glancing at Artemis who pretended not to hear as he removed his outside gear. Soon wincing as his father broke out into another coughing fit.

"In just two years and three weeks I'll be seventeen," he reminded himself as he took a few deep breaths. "Then I can finally join Father in the mines and then money will be less of an issue for us."

"Artemis can you check on dinner?"

"Sure thing Father." Artemis made his way back to the fireplace. He glanced at his father, who was focusing on pouring the green liquid from the vial into the smallest spoon they had. Quickly turning away, he lifted the lid from the pot. Steam gently hitting his face. After grabbing the nearest spoon and stirred the broth cooking.

A few minutes later, the two were sitting at the table. Artemis stirred the stew a little. Taking the smallest spoonfuls and the slowest sips possible. It wasn't the best tasting but food was food so one was not to complain. Bland tasting food was better nothing.

After dinner and cleaning up Artemis's father retired to his room. Artemis remained downstairs for a bit and tended the fire. Gently adding a couple more logs to it. Causing the fire to burst for a few seconds before Artemis poked it for a second. Once the fire died down enough, Artemis closed the door to the stove before heading upstairs himself. Passing his father's room he found him already fast asleep.

Artemis sighed before walking into his room. He closed the door securely before slowly walking to his bed. He quickly looked around before crawling under it and pulling out a small wooden box. He gently placed it on his bed before climbing on it himself. Slowly he opened and pulled on the contents. The first was a small soft plain blue blanket. Nothing really special. But the other item in it was special, at least special to Artemis. A golden amulet with the words Artemis Comet written on it.

"What even is a Comet anyway?" Artemis laid down on his bed and up the amulet. "I doesn't sound like something that would be a job. Maybe it's some forgotten one. Is that why they left me here?"

Artemis then took the amulet and moved it close to him. Immediately, he his body was filled with a strange warmth. Something he couldn't really explain but he loved the feeling. He didn't care if selling this good get at least some extra savings, this feeling it gave him was priceless.

Artemis awoke to the sun hitting eye. He covered them before gasping and bolting up. He proceeded to jump out of bed and run downstairs. With heavy breaths he found it empty. His father's work jacket, boots, and tools absent from their normal spots. He looked at the spot a second before sighing. After walking over to the kitchen he grabbed a couple pieces of dried fruit and put them on the table. Running back upstairs he changed into some warmer clothes and gently put his amulet back. Heading back downstairs he grabbed his fishing rod and the food he set out early. And off he went.

"At least the weather isn't so bad." Artemis thought to himself as he kept walking. Over the horizon he could see the edge of the town. Soon he heard the morning chatter of the citizens. Everything seemed normal. The school ages children were going to school, adults going to work, adolescents like Artemis going to trade school or an apprentice ship, everything to be excepted. The only ones not present were the miners like his father. Cause his father always said, a late miner mines nothing. Hopefully his father would be able to strike big today.

As he walked, Artemis kept facing forward. Not looking at anyone he was passing by. He didn't know if anyone was staring at him nor did he care. He was used to it. Even with covering most of his body, it was clear he was different from everyone else. He lacked the small horns everyone else sported, along with his hair being a dusty brown. Something he had never seen among the crowds. Luckily for him there wasn't much time to think about his appearance as he soon reached his destination, Sartinp's Lake.

"Looks like the fish should be biting," Artemis said with a smile. Looking around, he saw his favorite fishing area available. Slowly walking to it. He found the comfiest spot and settled in.

Through out the day Artemis sat at his spot. Sitting silently as he stared at the water. Occasionally reaching into his food reserves and taking a bite from it. His eyes never leaving the water for more than a second. Every once and a while, Artemis would feel his fishing rod give a small tug. With everyone he would stand up and quickly twist his cord to pull what ever was on it up to the surface. Though not every catch was successful, with inedible fish, or ones too small for him to keep. Along with some other stuff.

"Five keepers," Artemis said as he looked at his small haul. "Not the best but not the worse either and this should last us a bit."

Artemis proceeded to pick up his haul and walk back to his home. He spent his time thinking about how he could utilize these fish to last the longest. He could definitely cook one of them up tonight for dinner. Maybe even another one if he used the smaller ones. At the very least he could start drying out and preserving the three of them. Depending on the household needs, maybe he could even squeeze in a second fishing day this week. That would be nice. Very, very nice.

However, once Artemis got home all his thoughts disappeared. In front of his home was a strange large carriage.

"No!" Artemis screamed, dropping his fish and running towards his home. "Father!"

Artemis burst through the door of his home. Immediately, his father turned around and Artemis gave a sigh of relief. But the relief was shorted lived as three strange figures sat in his home. And it didn't take long for Artemis to realize who they were. The Royal Family of Kholo were staring right at him. Before long, the queen herself approached Artemis and started looking him over. With Artemis being frozen the whole time. After some time, she lowered Artemis's face mask and smiled.

"At long last," she spoke with much glee. "An actual Butterfly."

AN: Hello, long time no see for Star vs fans. I haven't really had motivation to write my old fic Return of Magic. Maybe some day I'll return to that world but here's my take of a new AU so I hope you enjoy it.
