Being immortal had its perks and disadvantages. Perk; seeing the world change. Disadvantage: losing everyone you once knew.

Hiccup stopped aging once he turned thirty. No one in the village could figure out why. Some assumed it was either a punishment or a gift from the gods.

For awhile Hiccup didn't mind the lack of aging. He felt fit and healthy even as he reached 70 years old. It wasn't until Astrid passed in her sleep did he feel his age. Then his children. It wasn't long before everyone he knew was gone.

The age of the Viking had died out. What few clans and tribes remained settled down or moved in with larger communities. Some gave up their beliefs of the gods.

Eventually the newest Chief of the Hooligan tribe decided it was time to move on with the times. Hiccup didn't agree with his great great grandson, so he decided it was time to leave and live out his immortality alone.

Late on night, once the tribe was asleep, Hiccup pack up what he could carry, headed down to the docks, got on a boat and sailed off to the Hidden World

After weeks of sailing, Hiccup arrived at the edge of the world. There to greet him was an elderly Toothless and many of his offspring.

Hiccup spent his next 800 or so years of his immortal life living among the dragons. He learned more than his mother ever did. He discovered that most dragons lived between 200 and 300 years. Toothless passed when he was just over 250 years old. He watched how well the dragons cared for the dead. He saw many of the species intermingle and create new dragons.

One day while sitting on the rocks at the mouth of the entrance to his forever home, listening to the waves crashing all around him, he saw an image form within the mist.

"Hello," a voice echoed within the formed image.

Hiccup squinted at the image. It was a man with long curly hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He wore a coat of what looked to be wool. On his back was quiver of arrows.

"Hello," the voice said again. "If you can hear me, please respond."

"I can hear you," Hiccup answered. "Who are you? What am I looking at?"

Hiccup wondered if he was finally going insane.

"I am Chiron," the voice answered. "You are looking at me through an Iris message. Are you Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, Tamer of dragons?"

"Yes," Hiccup answered carefully. "Can I help you?"

"I know you've been out of contact with the world for many centuries, but you are needed," Chiron said. "A dragon is rampaging through the camp forest and none of my students can control it."

Hiccup thought for a moment. All the dragons were still hidden. As far as he knew, none had escaped. "Why should I believe you. How do I know this isn't a hallucination caused by years of solitude?"

"I know this is sudden and you don't know me or anything about the current world, but all will be explained when you arrive. A hippocampus will be emerging shortly and will bring you here. Please trust me on this."

The image within the mist disappeared. Behind it was the head of a horse bobbing up and down in the water. On its back was a pair wings. Hiccup stood and carefully walked toward the creature. As he got closer the horse head flicked its mane back and forth and started neighing.

Hiccup held his hand out like he did for the dragons, offering friendship. The creatures stilled and sniffed his hand. The creature then moved into a position to allow Hiccup on.

Hiccup climbed on, surprised that the creature had a body of a large fish. Before he could comprehend the hippocampus was off, swimming at faster than a dragon could have flown.

Author's Note: Hiccup was born in 995. I put Hiccup at 90 when he left New Berk, making the year 1085. Chiron summoned him in the year 1920. Making Hiccup roughly 925.

If my math is wrong, please correct me.

Also I figured the Hidden World entrance would be hidden with magic.
