~Weyland Corporation Facility~

"Miss Nerise Feaurie, I have a proposition to make with you."

"...I'm listening."

"We have a mission to Antarctica. Your unique abilities could be of great use to us there, and, I will consider your freedom from this facility if you accept and join me."

"So the infamous Bruce Weyland is asking his pet for help?" I asked with a slight touch of sarcasm while raising a brow, and standing from my bed to walk towards the double glass wall separating us from each other.

"Yes. You've been on some excellent behavior, and you can consider this a reward. I trust you to do well, and protect me. Though I do prefer to trust my own kind, your strength, speed, and agility are far superior to any trained professional money can hire."

"So basically, you just want to show me off to your best and hardest?" I chuckle.

"No. Though as highly entertaining as that would be, this time things are serious. It's unknown territory…."

"You know I'm just picking on you." I shrug my wings and stretch. The glass reflects my figure, dull brown with red wings and tail. A light speckling of scales trailing my arms and tail, with claws tipping my fingers in a pitch black. My red and brown hair hung in limp curls off my shoulders, which I shifted to tie back into a ponytail. "So when do we leave?"

"Immediately. We have your gear packed, including your preferred weapons options from training."

"Really?!" I asked with more than a little disbelief while jumping up and down excitedly.

"Yes, really." He smiles.

"Thanks Master Weyland!" I twirl around and flop onto my plain white bed, happy.

"Please don't call me that… I expect you to be ready to leave in an hour."

"Yes sir!"

I watched his holographic projection vanish from the glass, I already knew he hadn't been here in person, he was most likely in a rush and already gone.

~A few hours later~

I was sitting comfortably in the back seat of a helicopter, watching a guy taking pictures and a young woman, Alexa? The guy was super excitable… the woman looking serious and bored.

"Where's your winter gear?" She was looking pointedly at me with a scowl, not amused with my skintight black leggings, long sleeve shirt, lord of the rings styled cape that draped over my form, and knee high black boots, which had spikes for traction on ice and snow that retracted back into the thick sole. My long hair was braided tightly, and I didn't have a hat, gloves or anything else on to keep me warm.

"I don't need any of that stuff." I scoffed.

"This isn't some holiday trip to New York in the snow! The temperatures out there will kill you in minutes exposed like you are."

"Meh, I'll consider your worries later." I shrug.

"What are you even here for?"

"Consider me the backup option. The one you hope never has to be used." I wink while smirking.

"Like… a guard?" The man beside me asked curious.

"Close enough." I chuckle.

"Why do we need guards for this?" Alexa was very suspicious now.

"Heck if I know. Maybe he's worried about rabid penguins or something, I don't know, but he's got the money, so let him spend it." I grin sarcastically.

Sebastian started chuckling beside me.

"This isn't funny!" Alexa glared at both of us.

"Lighten up, the man's rich as hell, I'm considering that he may be worried since he's coming in person that rival groups might show up, I know they won't do anything serious since he's got guards on hand. Though of course we also help with all the heavy lifting too." I giggle.

"We can handle our equipment ourselves."

"Still…" I sigh, feeling the chopper hit the deck of the massive ice breaker ship.

"We are here. Let's get inside." I hop down, spying Weyland and rushing over to him, hugging him. "Thanks for bringing me out here! The air feels nice." I was already loving the cold! I kind of just really loved extreme temps… they nipped and bit at my skin, the cold lighting up my senses and making me more aware of my surroundings.

"Oof! Easy there… let's get inside. The debriefing starts shortly." He smiled and led me inside, the others following as the helo was unloaded by the landing crew.

Once inside, it didn't take long for everyone to be seated, though I paced around behind the seating, happy to stretch my legs unhindered. I listened and watched, mostly disinterested in a lot of the details. There was a fact that I was fascinated by; this was an ancient temple?

"Sir, if this is a temple… we should maybe consider the fact this place might be booby trapped. I mean… considering how flawlessly intact scans show it, any ancient technology for safeguarding its existence might still be fully functional." I was serious as I brought the point up.

"With that bit of logic, those booby traps should have broken with the heat bloom, extreme heat meeting extreme cold, simple logic says they'd all be shattered and set off long ago."

I pout as my concern was brushed away, making sure to be prepared for worse now in response. God this reminded me of some horror films…
