Edd had stayed in the lane longer than he meant to, but he didn't really have anywhere else to go. The slim Omega stretched out his limbs one by one like a cat before heading to the cul-de-sac itself, for a fleeting moment he thought about Ed, the lovable lummox. The stone wall of a Beta had changed so much yet at the same time, so little, Edd found himself not minding when the larger boy would catch him alone.

As he entered high school, Ed found himself less inclined to follow Eddy as he turned to insult the gentle giant more and more, sticking to Edd's side as Eddy's temper and penchant for abuse continued to grow. He was still a bit of scatterbrain but the harsh environment seemed to push Ed into a keener awareness.

As such, while still loving monster movies, comics and of course chickens, he developed a quieter side. With that said, it wasn't long after Eddy broke Ed's pack bond did Ed leave, not to join Edd, but to become a Lone. One without a pack.

Due to this, he was more prone to keeping to himself and surprisingly watching over Sarah and Jimmy, the former of whom mellowed out as she got older. Even when presenting as an Alpha, it did little to affect her. Now Ed and Sarah got along better, Ed protecting her when he felt he needed to and Sarah coming to him when she wanted quiet.

It was a surprising change but Edd didn't mind it, Ed seemed happy and that was all that mattered to him. It was funny that Edd was thinking of him for as he came close to his house, Edd found Ed lying on a blanket on his front lawn, Jimmy curled up next to him.

Ed had his head to Jimmy as the younger Omega slept against him but when smelling Edd's scent he looked up, smiling. "Double D! You've been gone long, bucko! Everything's...not okay." the Beta started before seeing Edd's bloodied clothes and probably smelling the faint traces of Lee and Eddy's scent covering his clothes.

"I'm alright, Ed. We got help." Edd said, trying to calm the Beta, who only shook his head.

"Eddy hurt you..." he started growling, his claws digging in the blanket. His growing agitated scent caused Jimmy to whimper and burrow into the green jacket that was his trademark.

"Nothing you could have done. They would have got you too." Edd said hurriedly, while looking at Jimmy, Ed seemed to catch on and forced himself to calm down.

"But I could protect!" Ed retorted, looking to Jimmy as if to prove his point. Edd simply sighed and shook his head.

"It's okay, Ed. I'm okay. Where's Sarah?" he asked, trying to change the subject.

Ed gave the small Omega a look but answered anyway, moving to give Jimmy a tender nuzzle. "Baby Sister is sick, so I'm watching Jimmy. He was sad, so I let him cuddle with me!"

"Very good, Ed. I'm sure Sarah would appreciate it."

"Double D can stay and cuddle, I don't mind." Ed said, tilting his head and looking like he just wanted to help his friend. "Double D may be gone from pack and so am I, but we are still friends. Right?"

Edd winced slightly at that, even since Ed become a Lone he didn't go out of his way to seek the lovable oaf out. But his care for him warmed Edd and he couldn't help but smile. "Yes, Ed. Always."

Ed beamed at this while Jimmy smiled in his sleep, Edd took this as a chance to still slip away. "I have to go, Ed, but I promise to visit. Give Sarah my regards."

Ed sighed at that but still smiled, however his face looked serious for a moment. "Double D, come find me if...if you need me, I will protect you. Don't like seeing you hurt."

Edd smiled at his ex-packmate but didn't go back. "I know, Ed. And if I need to, I'll come. I promise."

"Bye, Double D." came the somewhat somber reply.

"Goodbye, Ed."

Edd walked over to his house, scenting the air carefully. After what happened, he didn't put it past Lee or Eddy to jump him in front of his own home. It paid to be a little careful. And while he didn't smell either of the Alphas he was thinking about, there was another scent that left him just as on edge.

Rain and pine trees circled around him and Edd's steely gray eyes narrowed as Kevin casually walked over to him. Hackles rising and with deep growl rumbling in his throat, Edd stared the Alpha down as much as he could. For a fleeting moment, he looked over to see if Ed was still around, but the Beta was gone. Probably took Jimmy inside. It wasn't a big deal, Edd could handle Kevin. At least for a few moments.

"I'm not going to attack you. What would have been the point of saving from Eddy and Lee if I was just going to do that?" the red headed Alpha grumbled. Edd noticed the clawmarks on his cheek and the bite marks on his arm. "Gifts" from Nazz.

It did nothing to sway Edd, who started backing away. "Looks painful, would suck to have more to worry about."

"I'm not going to hurt you," Kevin repeated, a little more forcefully. Every step back Edd took, he stepped forward. He tried to let out his scent and have it be calming but that only seemed to anger Edd further, and he raised his claws in threat.

"Yeah, funny about that, I've learned when Alphas say that, they're usually lying." Edd snarled, baring his fangs as Kevin moved a bit faster.

Kevin narrowed his green eyes and sighed, rubbing his face while being careful of his torn cheek. "I'm not lying."

"We're not friends!" Edd finally snapped, his voice raised and he stopped moving. That got Kevin and he halted as well.

"Just because you saved us, it doesn't mean we're friends. I don't know much about Marie and Nazz but you and I were always in two different worlds."

"Double D... I just..."

"NO! I will NOT be taken in just because you helped once! I refuse! I will not be the soft, submissive Omega you want me to be! I'm sick of it. I'm sick of being battered, being bloodied and sick of being told that I'm too fragile to be anything else. I don't want protection, I don't need it. I've survived two years without an Alpha, I don't need a stranger trying to force his way into my life!"

Edd glared at Kevin at the end, baring his fangs once more before taking off, the bandages from his wounds coming loose and falling away. His injures opened up again but other than feeling a deep yet dull ache, Edd barely notice.

He didn't have a destination in mind, he just wanted to run. His feet took him to the creek where he hunkered down on the down, wrapping his arms around himself and started rocking. He tried willing the tears away but his body wouldn't listen and he cried. Quiet, but still crying nonetheless.

A few minutes later, the Omega picked up the scent of rain and pine and through his tears he let out a low threatening growl. Kevin paused for a moment but only just. He crouched next to Edd, trying to be close enough to the Omega yet still far enough away in case anything happened. Still Edd growled.

"Your wounds are bleeding again, and your bandages fell off. We have to get them replaced." When Kevin was met with stony silence, he sighed. "Edd, please! You can really get hurt! You need-"

"Where were you?"

Kevin blinked and turned to Edd, seeing that he had turned his back to him. "What?"

"Where. Were. You?" Edd asked again with empathies. "If you're so worried, where were you when Eddy was biting Ed hard enough to break his hand? Where were you when Eddy clawed me hard enough to put me in the hospital for four days? Where were you when Eddy broke my pack bond and left me bleeding in the dirt?! Where were you?!"

As the last words left his mouth, Edd launched himself at Kevin, startling the Alpha just long enough to pin him to the muddy back. He straddled the red head's hips as his claws pressed hard into the Alpha's chest, causing Kevin to cough. Edd was snarling down at Kevin, his fangs bared wildly while his pupils shrank to mere slits, giving the Omega a truly angered expression.

"Stop..." Kevin wheezed, putting his arm up and unintentionally placing his hand over Edd's left shoulder, right where his broken pack bond scar was. As soon as Kevin touched it, Edd's eyes widened and his mind flashed back to when Eddy forcefully kicked him from the pack. The Omega shrieked as phantom pain and helplessness ran through him and he lunged forward, sinking his fangs deep into Kevin's neck.

The Alpha hissed in pain and on reflex raised his claws. "Get...off!" He swung with all his might, slashing at Edd's face. The blow raked across the boy's eye, leaving long, jagged wounds and it was hard enough to send the Omega flying towards the edge of the water.

When Kevin realized what he done, along with seeing the blood on his claws, the Alpha forgot about the pain in his neck and tried to get to Edd. However, despite the blow and being slightly submerged in water, Edd was quicker to his feet and wanting nothing more than to get away, ran away on all fours, his pain and fear giving him speed.

Kevin watched him go and tried to follow, only to be stopped by his bleeding throat. He looked up just in time to see Edd disappear behind a bush before hanging his head.

"Double D...Edd...I...I'm sorry."

A/N: Another heavy one, sorry folks. Seems like that is the name of the gam for now. What will happen in the next chapter? Even I don't know! Seriously, I don't know. I write these things as I go along. I don't have any notes, no chapters in advance, nothing. My only idea for this was "Omegaverse Ed, Edd n Eddy." Im just pumping chapters out cuz i had four days off work. Chapters might take a slow down after this one. Tell me what you think so far. And as always, enjoy.
