carving pumpkins with each other

Fred was nervous like he hadn't been in all his life. He knew he didn't have a reason for it, but Hermione was coming soon to carve pumpkins with him and he had a plan. He just needs to go through it and not faint. He could do it.

The ring of the doorbell made him jump in the air and Fred realised that maybe he wouldn't be able to do it after all.

"Get a grip, Weasley, and just have fun with your girlfriend for the night," Fred murmured to himself before opening the door and smiling at the sight that greeted him.

Hermione was wearing an orange jumper and jeans, and Fred thought she was the most beautiful woman in the whole world. He was a lucky man.

"Hi handsome, I missed you," Hermione said, before grabbing him and kissing him lightly. "Ready to carve some pumpkins?"

Fred didn't answer her, just grabbed her by her waist and kissed her again. He'll never get tired of kissing her, no matter how much time has passed. Fred knew it was fate when they met at a Halloween party and hit right off; Hermione was the love of his life and he wanted the entire world to know it.

"What was that for? Not that I'm complaining, just so I can expect it next time," Hermione said, a light blush spreading on her face.

"Nothing special, just felt like kissing you," Fred replied, closing the door and bringing her to the kitchen. "I bought these pumpkins, I hope they are good?"

"Oh, they're perfect, Fred!" Hermione's eyes were shining and she was smiling brightly, making Fred's heart melt. "Are you ready to start carving?"

Fred gulped, and smiled at her. "I'm ready whenever you are."

Hermione winked at him, and without wanting any more indication from him, she went to gtab the knives and everything they would need. Fred just stood there, looking at her so at ease at his house, making his heart almost burst from his chest.

They sat down to carve, and Fred stole some glances at Hermione, but she wasn't letting him watch what she was doing. Chuckling, Fred continued carving, trying not to mess anything up; this has to be perfect.

"I think I'm almost finished with mine, how about you?" Hermione asked, not once looking up from her pumpkin.

"Give me five and I must be done with," Fred replied, biting his lip in concentration. "We're going to show each other at the same time?"

"Yep!" Hermione said, popping the 'p', and Fred smiled at her. "Get ready to be blown away by my masterpiece."

They continued in silence, and when he finished, Fred took a deep breath. He didn't know what her reaction would be, but he was more than ready to show her his pumpkin.

"Okay, are you ready?" Fred asked, trying to clean his sweaty hands on his jeans. "One, two…THREE!"

Hermione turned her pumpkin to him, and he smiled at the amazing Jack Skellington looking at him; while he was looking at her pumpkin, Hermione was gaping at his pumpkin.

"Are you…did you mean it?" Hermione asked with a small voice, tears welling up in her eyes.

In Fred's pumpkin, he had written 'will you marry me?'.

"I knew from the moment I met you that I wanted you in it for the rest of my life," Fred said, standing up before kneeling in front of her. "Meeting you was fate, but loving you was a choice.

"A choice I make everyday and will continue to do as long as I'll live, and even after," Fred said, watching Hermione smile through her tears. "So…Hermione Granger, will you marry me?"

He produced the ring that he had been carrying with him for the last few weeks, and waited for Hermione to give him an answer.

"Yes, of course I'll marry you!" Hermione threw herself into his arms, and she kissed him.

Fred was a lucky man, and he couldn't be happier to have Hermione as his forever.
