Harry Potter is NOT a regular boy. Weird things happen around him and he only just found out it was him causing these weird events. One day when he was doing the gardening, he saw a small snake and started speaking to it. To his utter shock it spoke back to him, and he understood what it was saying. It told him that he was the one behind all the weird events and that he was a WIZARD. Imagine that. Harry asked the snake what his name was because he felt rude just referring to him as the snake and he was told his name was Hydra after the constellation. When he told the snake about how his family treated him the snake suggested that they run away and that he would show Harry around the Wizarding world. Harry accepted this offer so the next day whilst the Dursleys were asleep they left with all of his things.
