Kos, 2022
It was lunch hour and very busy . Just another typical day at the resort for Kassandra in the modern era . In the 2000 years she lived she had to adapt to a lot of changes and jumped from job to job as it was no longer legal to work as a mercenary or assassin . She had recently found a job as a kitchen chef in a small remote resort on the edge of Kos . It was another ordinary and busy day cooking in the kitchen for the hungry tourists . Until she stepped outside.
Kassandra was walking to the fresh food section of the buffet near the salads with a tray of extra food stock she had prepared in the kitchen and was about to discreetly replace the food before slipping back into the kitchen using her stealth skills she had learned centuries ago in the same place . Until a young girl who looked similar to Kassandra's age happened to be at the salad aisle about to grab some food . Kassandra noticed it first and quickly stepped away not before noticing what the young tourist was wearing . It was her outfit from centuries ago . The Spartan misthios outfit . The girl was pretending to be her with her hair in the same style Kassandra used to wear back in Ancient Greece and with the full armour and tunic and red scarf . She smiled, snapping back to reality . "Oh hello , sorry" she said in a friendly manner to the girl who looked shocked at what she just saw . She quickly slipped the olives onto the food tray for the tourists and headed back into the kitchen to collect her thoughts .
Kassandra knew that she was a famous video game icon after Herodotus wrote about their adventure travelling around the world of Ancient Greece on the Adestria and some archaeologists had managed to find the book in some ruins and published it . Ubisoft then took the idea and made Kassandra's story and life as a Spartan misthios into a game for the modern world to play in and explore as nobody read books anymore . Technology had changed she knew that . What they did not know was that Kassandra was alive in modern day Greece and was aware of the game and what was happening . They thought she was dead . She kept her secret well and so did Heredotous he took the secret to the grave . While adapting to modern society throughout the years changing to the latest trends , fashion and jobs so nobody would know that she never aged after the accident .
She had been working in the resort making food for breakfast, lunch and dinner 5 days a week from April to October every year for the past few years laying low blending in with the other tourists and living up the mountains of Kos during her spare time . However since odyssey came out 4 years back with her story on the consoles for everyone to explore , many tourists came . Some even said the word malaka to her out loud as a joke after playing the game , but nobody ever dressed like her . All the tourists wore modern day stuff: shorts, t -shirts , dresses, trousers and trainers . But that girl had full Spartan armour on with Greek sandals and was trying to dress like everybody did 2000 years back when she was a misthios . Kassandra could almost remember and visualise what the room would have looked like way back when she was young and dressed like that . The glass cups and jugs would have been made out of clay , the table wood instead of marble , the open air room would have been made of wood instead of whatever material they used now . All the cutlery and plates would have looked different . Everybody would be in togas and the women would have their hair braided , or in a bun and they would be wearing long Greek dresses of many colours, mostly white . She could almost visualise as if she was back in the ancient world even just for a moment . A feeling of deja vu and happiness and fondness of her old memories came back . She missed her family, friends and living in the ancient world . The only reminder in the resort of her past life today was some clay jars in the women's restroom shaped like the ones she used to store wine in at her mothers house in Sparta . Apart from that everything had drastically changed and been modernised . Kassandra had heard of cosplay and seen photos of fans posing as her all over the world except for in Greece and her workplace . She never expected a fan to turn up to work . It made her day . Even if she didn't know it was her still alive in disguise a million years later . It made her happy knowing people liked her and her story and wanted to be her .
