What do I fight for?
It's a good question to ask. I suppose I fight for a lot of things…Freedom, Duty, Revenge, Love…
I want to free this world from the threats of Terra. I want to stop all this fear, all this death. Kuja killed my mother, killed my people, and destroyed the Mist continent all for Terra. Gaia will survive. I shall die before I see it fall.
It is my duty to my people to save Gaia. It is my duty to my friends to help them avenge their countries; it is my duty that keeps me going. Even if that duty will eventually take me away from my love.
It was always doomed, and we both knew it. But I loved him regardless. Without him, I would have died long ago. I owe him my allegiance.
Many of my friends believe their duty lies with me, as Queen of Alexandria. I beg to differ. My duty lies with Zidane. It is his story, not mine.
Things could have been so different for me. I could have stayed Sarah of Mandain Sari, and grown up with Eiko, happy together in our own world. But it was not to be.
And so now I fight as Garnet. I will protect her destiny.
It is my duty.
