The weather was great. It was one clear day to, well go to school. Everything is different for I'm in high school.
"Helga, I saved this parking space for you!" a person I don't even know shouted as I drove my car pass the gate. I parked my car on the space and jumped out of it. "Thanks!" I whispered as I held his cheek.
The boy just felt weak on his knees. For that moment, he didn't know what to do. "By the way, could you guard my car while I'm away?"
"Sure…"was the only reply I've got.
Everybody soon took turns on following me and talking to me as I passed by the school's corridor. Everybody was gazing at me. Everybody was amazed at me. I told you, high school was different. I'm not the same Helga Pataki all knew. It was more than the things I've experienced as the IT girl.
Everything changed when Arnold left me in 9th grade. He went to Canada in order to study. And do you know what's worst? He's with Lila. Argh! Of all the people! But before he went away, he left me with something.
[flashback]
"Hey, what's up football-head?"
"I'm leaving, I'm gonna be with Lila in Canada!"
"But why?" I asked him with great frustration and concern.
"I wanna study there…and Lila's mom wanted me to stay with them rather than me renting a unit in the dorm." He said with a smile.
"Well, if that makes you happy…" I whispered. "Bye then, Arnoldo…"
I was leaving, trying all my might not to breakdown infront of him. I tried everything to keep my tears from falling down my eyes. It was difficult, very difficult. But then, I was stopped by his voice.
"Helga, before I leave, I'll just tell you that…" he swallowed hard before continuing. "I'm gonna miss you…"
"Yeah, me to Arnoldo…" I whispered before realizing that he had embraced me.
"I just like to tell you too…that I… like you very much!" I said while returning his embrace. For crying out loud, I said it for the first time there.
"I like you too…but I just like you, not like-like you…to tell you honestly…Lila was more prettier and well, so—"
"It's ok football-head…bye now…" with that I was off.
It was the first sentence that broke my heart. And for years, a tear finally rolled down my face.
[Reality]
"Hey baby! You're so pretty today with those curls, hanging top and ohh…that mini skirt! I love it!" Gerald, Arnold's old bestfriend commented.
"Thanks…"
From then on…I'm no longer a tomboyish brat, but a well-loved girl. I was the prettiest girl in the campus and even Rhonda bows down on me. I just wished that Arnold were here to see me.
"Hey Phoebe, what's up?" I called upon my ever-loyal bestfriend.
"Um…Sid wanted to talk to you!" the little glasses-girl replied.
"About—?"
"Your breakup!"
"Tell him—"
"Tell me what, Helga?" a familiar voice asked in a sweet voice. Sid did change a lot too. He had grown up to be a handsome young man…and my boyfriend…no my ex…he's a real playboy and I got tired of sticking to him everyday so…
"Tell you that…ummm…let me see…tell you to back off and leave me alone!" I passed his body.
"Don't you love me anymore?"
"Of course I do honey, but—" I stopped and held his shoulders before, "You're such a player, and I hate players!" I kicked him in between his legs, which made him fall down because of the impact. He was almost crying, well; at least I helped him save money for he can't stay with a girl in bed in this evening.
"Common Phoebe!" I commanded as I raced into the classroom.
But in the corridor, just a step away from my classroom's door was a familiar voice.
"Hi Phoebe…long time no see! It's odd, you don't seem to be with Helga!" the voice said.
It just made my insides turn. it was unbelievable. It was…
