Song: "Paradise" by Vanessa Carlton
I don't own any of these characters so please don't kill me CLAMP!!
Nothing in the world hurts more than loving someone and not receiving their love in return. It's as if someone is slowly siphoning your soul away, for years Tomoyo had lived with that feeling everyday. Each day out of the year she gave her love to Sakura so that she may live in happiness. Each day until exactly a year ago this day, the day of Sakura and Syaoron's wedding anniversary.
Once upon a year gone by
She saw herself give in
Every time she closed her eyes
She saw what could have been
Well nothing hurts and nothing bleeds
When covers tucked in tight
Funny when the bottom drops
How she forgets to fight...to fight
Tomoyo stood atop Tokyo Tower staring out at the city below. On this day last year, she had lost her only love. She looked at the object she held in her right hand, the bunny eraser from so long ago. The cute bunny face smiled up at her from her sweaty palm, she'd never used it, for it was too valuable. She'd held it in the same hand last year as Sakura got married. Oh every time she closed her eyes she could see it. Sakura in the white wedding dress that Tomoyo had made just for her. The last costume she would ever wear. Sakura had been so beautiful that day, she glowed from the inside of excitement for her new life with Syaoron. Tomoyo had never seen her so happy.
And it's one more day in paradise
One more day in paradise
The day's since Sakura's wedding had been such a horrible paradise for Tomoyo. She was so happy that her love had found her own happiness. Yet, Tomoyo's heart would never experience the fullness that Sakura's did. When they were younger Tomoyo's pain had been bearable, for she had the hope that one day Sakura would realize the true meaning of her best friend's love. That hope had been shattered last year. Tomoyo's dreams would never come true.
As darkness quickly steals the light
That shined within her eyes she slowly swallows all her fear
And soothes her mind with lies
Well all she wants and all she needs
Are reasons to survive
A day in which the sun will take
Her artificial light..her light
Her eyes had become dull since that day last year. The fire of love had been washed from her lavender eyes. She was no longer afraid of what she must do. She told herself that in the end Sakura would be better. She no longer needs me, came the thought as the wind caught her dress. I wish that for one day I could feel the love Syaoron feels every minute of his life. He has the complete devotion of an angel.
Don't pretend to hold it in just let it out
Don't pretend to hold it in just let it out
The dark thoughts began to flood her mind. ..she doesn't need you... She never needed you...you weren't worthy of her love...you're doomed to misery forever. Tears slowly fell down her porcelain cheeks. It's true.
Once upon a year gone by
She saw herself give in
Every time she closed her eyes
She saw what could have been
The raven-haired woman swallowed hard and stepped over the guardrail. Sakura would never know the truth behind Tomoyo's love for her. Tomoyo's chance to tell her had come and gone. Tomoyo's window of happiness had closed with Sakura's wedding. I could have told her but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It would only confuse her. Tomoyo thought as she stood on the edge of the walkway. I know I could have had her but... She held on to the rail behind her with one hand and leaned out towards the endless space in front of her. Tomoyo held the eraser to her heart and let go. The last thing she remembered was Sakura smiling at her and saying "I love you too Tomoyo."
