As I wake up, I think about my life and this day. Today is my birthday, September 17, which would normally be a happy occasion.

But this is my first birthday without my father.

Not too long ago, Copy Rezo did destroy Sairaag, my hometown. Unlike the original Rezo, Copy Rezo only did harm. He nearly killed my friend Lina, who had saved me from getting killed by him. Worst of all, he killed my father and most of the other citizens of Sairaag. I was probably the only survivor.

My father was a priest and the mayor of Sairaag. He was my primary caregiver, since my mother died soon after I was born. I was very close to him and I would usually be with him, except when I was sleeping or sometimes when I was playing with my toys. Even though he was a busy man, he always found time to talk with me.

My birthday was always a special time for us. No matter how busy Father was, he would always spend the day with me. Usually, the first thing that he would do that day is measure how much I had grown during the previous year. As I stood next to the oak tree in our yard, he would carve a mark on it, showing my current height. We would then hug each other and open gifts. I remember that some of my favorites were two little cloth dolls dressed as a prince and a princess (I had always wanted to get married to a chivalrous, handsome young man) and a teacup, which had silver flowers and "SYLPHIEL" engraved into it. Then, we would take a tour of the shops in Sairaag and visit the nearby forest. At the end of the day, I was usually so tired that he had to carry me home. Nevertheless, I always had a good time.

I remember that on my fourth birthday, I had discovered some of the secret passages of Flagoon. Flagoon had been planted many years ago, after the Swordsman of Light had defeated the beast Zanafar. These passages inside Flagoon were a whole new world to me. I could play in peace and create my own world, without being interrupted. I kept some of my dolls and my teacup there, so that I wouldn't have to carry them back and forth. I kept most of my treasures there to keep them from getting misplaced.

Sometimes, I'd even find treasures of my own and keep them there. Once when I had gone to the shrine with my father and saw this beautiful sword. He explained to me that it was the Blessed Blade. Since it was part of Flagoon, it had the power to destroy the evil beast Zanafar's miasma. I wanted the sword to be with Flagoon for a while, so I "borrowed" it when no one was looking and put it inside of Flagoon.

I unintentionally ended up causing a riot.

The next day, people stood outside of the shrine, ranting and yelling. Some were taking notes down about the robbery. Others were burning down a hairy looking effigy of a bandit. Had I not been so afraid, I would have laughed at how they had portrayed the robber of the Blessed Blade.

As the mayor of Sairaag, Father asked the townspeople to leave the shrine. Most of them had so much respect for him that they left immediately. I decided to keep the Blessed Blade inside of Flagoon, since I was afraid of being arrested.
