Just As Good

He is dark and lethal,
Just as good as she.
Yet she always gets the spotlight
And he must stay in the background.
He took care of Normal,
Even with a bullet hole in his arm;
He protected the X5 and X6-
Made them feel safe.
Yet without thanks she comes in,
Takes over.
He saved two transgenics,
Yet she'll save thousands.
Why can't he be her love?
They are much more compatible-
The same strengths and weaknesses,
The same goal at heart.
He battles for her heart,
Yet he will always lose.
She will always find someone better;
He's never good enough.
So he will continue to guard her
Making sure she stays safe.
