Chapter One

Mulan woke to the warm sun. She was at home, and peace was back in China. Mulan quickly dressed and was out of the house, tending to the chickens, pigs, etc.

Mushu and Crikee were on Khan, as they greeted her.

"Hey, baby. Lovely morning, huh?" Mushu said. Crikee chirped and Khan neighed.

"Yes Mushu, it's a lovely day. There's no war, so of course I'm happy. Except for one thing."

"Matchmaker retest" Mulan and Mushu both said at the same times, groaning.

"Maybe you should take Crikee with you." suggested Mushu.

"And get the Matchmaker to burn her big butt again? No thanks." shuddered Mulan.

Crikee chirped in annoyance.

"By the way, umm. you wouldn't happen to see lover boy nearby, would you?" asked Mushu cautiously.

"Lover boy? Who's that?"

Mushu was grinning an evil grin.

"Lover boy by the name of Shang, who got promoted to General Li Shang, who's right behind you." he said, smirking.

Mulan whirled around, and there was Shang, walking towards her.

"Hey Mulan. Your mother told me to bring you over to the kitchen."

"Why are you here? This early?"

"Dunno. Your grandmother asked me for breakfast, and since I can't cook, and don't have a wife, I accepted."

"So you came here just for the food?"

"And to see the heroine of all of China."

"I'll take it as a compliment." Muland said as they burst out laughing.

"Oh, the rice is good." complimented Shang.

"Mulan cooked it." hinted Grandmother Fa.

Mulan was exasperated. It seemed that to Grandmother Fa, everything Shang liked was cooked by her.

"I have news Mulan." said her father.

"What news?" she asked curious.

"You're retest for the matchmaker has been moved up to tomorrow."

Mulan groaned. Shang shot her a sympathetic look.

"But baba!"

"I'm sorry Mulan."

"OK baba." Mulan reluctantly agreed.
