A Name
From Kenshin's Point of view.
A name,
Something that means so much
Yet at the same time so little
A name defines who you are,
Outlines the characteristics of your self
But is not always correct
Some people have more than one name
For they've been more than one person
And there's not just one name to fit them all
As far as my life stretches into
The dark reaches of my past,
I've had three different names
One name during my childhood
One they day my childhood abruptly ended
And one I've had since I threw everything away
All of the people who knew me
Or knew of me still can't
Acknowledge the fact that the old names have disappeared
The names of my past endure on
Because spiteful people are unable to
Let go and move on
The world around me has grown
Up and changed but the spirit of
Madness lives on with my old name
The name I was given at birth
Possesses memories of happiness
That continues to haunt me
The name I have now though
Is full of the happiness and sadness of
An almost normal life
A name can mean many things
And can define who you are,
In the end though, it is just a name
Author's Note: I wrote this since I needed a break from the chapter stories I've been writing lately. Those can be so tedious. It's been almost a half a year since I last wrote a poem. I hope I'm not losing my touch. Oh well, I hope you like this short angsty poem. It was just a spur of the moment idea I wrote during Theatre class. Now on to the next chapter of Two Faces of the Same Person.
