Love at First Slight

James was so excited he would be starting his first year at Hogwarts today. Right at this moment he was at Platform ¾ waiting for his best friend since birth Sirius Black. James sighed, there must be something wrong with Sirius maybe it was his gene's or something but he could not be prompt for anything. Not even the first day of school. James gave an another long-suffering sigh, of all the people in the world why did he have to pick Sirius Black to be his best friend?

"Hey Jamesie! Sorry I'm late." Sirius said. That was of course invariably the first thing he said- ever.

"It's all right Sirius after 11 years I'm used to it." James said condescendingly.

"Oh that's great! Let's go find a compartment and then get some grub." Sirius said.

James and Sirius dragged their trunks to an empty compartment and stashed them away. Then they sat and waited for the trolley witch to come along. While they were waiting they played exploding snap and planned what kind of pranks they would pull their first year at school.

After their first game of exploding snap another boy entered their compartment. He was kind of tired looking and asked if he could share their compartment in a voice which said that he expected them to say no.

"Course you can. My name is James Potter and this here is my bestest bud Sirius Black." James said introducing them. The boy looked startled that they had said yes. "My name's Remus Lupin." He said as he pulled his trunk into the compartment. They were soon joined by another first year boy named Peter Pettigrew and the trolley witch. When she left her trolley was considerably lighter.

They played games and talked for the rest of the train ride and soon found themselves on the boats across the lake. They were all standing at the door waiting for Professor McGonagall when James saw her. She was, in his eyes, the most beautiful girl in the world. And even though he thought that all girls had cooties, it just didn't really matter to him when he looked at her. The girl noticed him staring at her and turned to James.

"What are you looking at four-eyes?" She said.

Sirius turned when he heard this and watched as James turned beet-red. Then he leaned over to Remus and Peter and whispered. "See it's just like in the movies. Love at first slight."

"Err... Sirius." Remus started.

"What?"

"Never mind."
