The Ravens View
They carried him between them, on a stretcher. Faces cast down the four young people made their way through the flourishing trees, blossoms as white as the mens faces. From their looks every one of them could have been the man lying deadlike. Not a word fell between them, the only sound I heard from the window still I sat on was the noise of rattling dishes inside the house and the lady stopping her humming for a silent curse.
Spreading my black-feathered wings I swang myself high into the leaden sky, breathing the rainpromising air for a moment before circling down again, finding a treetop for better view.
As the warriors, for it was plain to see from their clothing, brown and deep-green travelling clothes, bow and quiver still dangling on sorrow bend backs, reached the wooden porch and one of them lifted a fist to knock, he hesitated. Before the knuckles of his slender hand even touched the door, it was opened.
There was thunder in the air, a loud rumble, shaking hills and woods to the core. The light breeze became stormy squalls. Éowyns flaxen hair was freed from it´s bound, grey eyes were veiled by it´s soft strands. Both the warrior and the maiden cast their eyes to the sky and just in that moment hailstones came falling from the sky, hitting the soft ground with heavy strokes.
The woman loosened her eyes from the clouds, straying back to the hooded forms in front of her. With a light hand Éowyn took the leaders hand, still in knocking position, down and pushed hin slightly aside to take a look at the man on the stretcher. Even for me it was hard to say if the blood drained from her pale face, the blank expression stayed.
"My Lady?" ,the youngest man of the small group caught her attention and made her take a step back and standind back towards door, allowing the soldiers to enter her home. No one noticed me, the black shadow that came rushing in after them, swift as the hailstones that found their way inside before the door was closed.
