Author Note
First of all, this isn't fanfiction...ok it kind of is, but hear me out. I love Prison Break. It is definitely one of my all-time favourite shows. And I would still pick season 4 of Prison Break ( my least favourite season of the series) over the entirety of a lot of different shows. One thing I didn't like was how they handled Roland Glen. Glenn was a hacker and was brought on to Michael's team by Don Self to help retrieve Scylla. Pretty much all his scenes were him literally just existing, and all the members of Michael's team yelling at him. Granted, sometimes he comes off as cocky and self-centred. But that can describe literally every member of Michael's group at some point in time. They were hardly angels. Now I think the reason they treat them like this was at that point they had been betrayed and used by so many people, and they just didn't want to trust anybody now and granted Michael and Sarah didn't bag on Roland nearly as much as the others did. While every member of Michael's group was there to work out some jail time, they were also there because The Company had screwed with them in a multitude of ways. Roland was just there to work out some prison time, he didn't know who The Company was and he probably didn't care. So I thought "what if The Company had messed with him?". What if he had a stake in taking down The Company beyond just wanting to stay out of jail. What if the other members of Michael's team were just initially distrustful of him, but eventually grew to trust him as one of their own? I think that the season would take a drastic turn. I personally think Roland was heavily underutilized during season 4. His hacking skills were the best we had ever seen, he was a very intelligent young man, and without his device, copying Scylla would have been impossible. I think that by improving his character, the season would be a lot more well-off. This is my first time writing something for someone other than my teacher, so it's probably going to be trash at first. For now, the overarching story will stay the same, and there won't be any major changes until just before Roland's death. I'll decide if I want to keep writing this story after that.
Chapter 1
Roland POV
Out of all the interrogation rooms I've been put in, this one was by far the most stuffy.
Granted, I've only been in like two others, but the point still stands. Oh! Where are my manners? Roland Glen, hacker extraordinaire and general pain in the ass at your service. I am currently being held in the DHS Headquarters. You are now probably wondering what I'm doing here. Well, that makes two of us. Originally I was being brought in by some beat cops from my neighbourhood. The next thing I know some men in black-looking dudes show up, and cart me off to wherever this is. I'm usually not too worried whenever I get arrested. None of the donut munching assholes in my hometown had the mental capacity to even comprehend my crimes, much less prosecute me for them. But the fact that I'm being held in a place like this makes me think that maybe my luck has finally run out. Dennis would kick my ass if he saw where I am right now. That is if he could still kick anything.
*Door Opens*
Huh, A guy walked in. Tallish, pasty white dude. Got to be in his late thirties to early forties. The look on his face says " let's get this over with so I can get back to watching Grey's Anatomy with my cats".
"Roland Glenn. We finally meet." I raise my eyebrow
"Do we know each other?"
"No" he responds, "but I'm a big fan of your work. I've been wanting to sit down and have a chat with you for a while, but you were surprisingly hard to track down''
"Yeah, I get that a lot. Listen, man, I don't know what it is you think I did but I-"
"I'ma stop you right there kid," he says as he gets up and steps towards the water machine (are those things mandatory in an Interrogation room?). I notice he doesn't have a gun on his hip like every other agent here. Oh no, what if this guy isn't a Homeland agent? What if he's one of...them?
He notices me staring and says "Didn't think I would need it, from what your file says you're not the violent type".
"Who are you?" I ask.
"Don Self, Homeland Agent".
"Can I see a badge?" I ask.
"You're not in the position to demand anything, kid," he says as he pours himself some water.
"Besides, it doesn't matter who I am. What matters is what I can do. Which is making sure that you rot in a federal prison for the rest of your natural life". He says as he sips some water. "Thirsty?"
Author Note
And that's chapter 1! Sorry for how short it is, the next 2 chapters will be much longer. I should probably let you know right now, dialogue is where I shine when it comes to writing. Environmental and character descriptions aren't really my strong suit, so bear with me on that front. Please leave reviews so I know if I'm any good at this, any and all thoughts are welcome. See you in the next chapter!
