Prologue: Welcome to Inaba

In a foggy terrain, a black Limo with a V insignia at the front was driving through the fog, unsure of its destination.

Inside the Limo, It was all blue and it had an assortment of alcohol and a bizarre man and a woman sitting down with their eyes closed until the bizarre man looked at the silver hair teenage boy right in front of him "Welcome to the Velvet Room. Ah… It seems we have a guest with an intriguing destiny…" The man then chuckles "My name is Igor… I am delighted to make your acquaintance." Igor greeted as he introduced himself "This place existed between dream and reality, mind and matter… It is a room that only those who are bound by a "contract" may enter… It may be that such a fate awaits you in the near future. Now then... Now then… Why don't you introduce yourself…?" Igor asks.

"My name is Yu Narukami." Yu introduced himself to Igor.

"Hm… I see. Now, let's take a look into your future, shall we?" Igor said as he uses his powers to bring tarot cards on the table in front of him "Do you believe in fortune telling?" Igor asks Yu as he spreads the tarot cards across the table.

"A little bit. But i don't know much about it." Yu replied.

"Each reading is done with the same cards, yet the result is always different." Igor chuckles a bit "Life follows the same principals, doesn't it?" Igor asks as he flips one of the cards to reveal a tower.

"Hm… The Tower in the upright position represents the immediate future. It seems a terrible catastrophe is imminent. The card indicating the future beyond that is…" Igor then flips another tarot card to reveal a crescent moon.

"The moon, in the upright position. This card represents "Hesitation" and "Mystery"... Very interesting indeed. It seems you will encounter a misfortune at your destination, and a great mystery will be imposed upon you." Igor explained as he stops speaking for a moment and then resumes the conversation.

"In the coming days, you will enter into a contract of sort, after which you will return here. The coming year is a turning point in your destiny… If the mystery goes unsolved, your future may be forever lost. My duty is to provide assistance to our guests to ensure that does not happen." as Igor makes the tarot cards disappear, the woman looks at Yu.

"Ahem!" The woman sighed as Igor looked at her.

"Ah! I have neglected to introduce my assistant to you. This is Margaret. She is a resident of this place, like myself." Igor said as the woman finally spoke.

"My name is Margaret. I am here to accompany you through your journey." Margaret said as she introduced herself.

"We shall attend to the details another time." Yu felt his eyes getting heavier and felt like he was falling asleep "Until then, farewell…" Igor said to Yu as the room turned pitch black.

Afternoon

In the city, a commercial plays with a girl playing in the water and then drinking a soda that she was advertising but then it cuts to a news reporter talking about an affair as Yu went on a train. While on the train, Yu was remembering what happened at his old school.

Flashback

"Well i'm sure that you all know already, but at the end of this month, Yu will be transferring to another school." voices then flooded the classroom, sadden that a fellow classmate of theirs will be leaving "Quiet down guys. I'm not done yet…"

Flashback ends

Yu squinted his eyes as he got off the train and went on another.

While on the other train, Yu took out his phone and looked at a message saying 'Meet us outside Yasoinaba station at 4PM.' Yu then hears the intercom going off and he got up from his seat and grabbed his bag and walked towards the door to the platform.

Inside a house that was in a neighborhood, a little girl and her father were watching the news about an affair that a councilman had with a TV reporter when the father looked at the time "Oh? Should we go soon?" The little girl asks.

"Yeah, just about." The man said as he turned off the TV and the two left to go to the train station.

At the Yasoinaba station, Yu walks out and looks around to see if the people he was supposed to meet were there or not "Hey! Over here!" Yu hears the man's voice and walks over to him "Well, you're more handsome in person than in your photo." Yu chuckles a little and shakes the man's hands.

"Thank you." Yu said.

"Anywho, Welcome to Inaba. I'm Ryotaro Dojima. I'll be looking over after you. Let's see… I'm your mother's younger brother… and that about sums it up." Dojima said.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Dojima-san." Yu said to his uncle.

"Heh. You probably don't remember, but we've met. I've changed your diapers before, you know." Dojima and Yu gave a little laugh until Dojima grabbed a girl from behind and pushed her towards Yu "This here's my daughter. Come on, Nanako, introduce yourself to your cousin." Dojima said as the girl hesitantly looked at Yu.

"...'lo" Nanako squeaks as she blushes and hides behind her father, which got Dojima to chuckle a bit.

"What're you so shy for?" Dojima asks as Nanako got a bit angry and slapped him "Ow, hahaha." Dojima laughs off the sting from his daughter's slap and looks at Yu "Well then… Let's get going. My car's over there." Dojima said as he and Nanako walked towards the car and Yu followed suit, walking by a friendly-looking girl with silver-ish white hair and red eyes picked up a piece of paper that Yu dropped.

"...Excuse me. You dropped this." The girl said as she held out the paper.

"Thank you." Yu said as he took the piece of paper from the girl's hands.

"You're welcome. Are you new here?" The girl asks.

"Yeah. And you are…?" Yu asks

"I'm Fumiko. Welcome to Inaba. I hope you enjoy your stay." Fumiko said.

"Thanks." Yu said as Fumiko bows and walks away.

"What's wrong?" Dojima asked as Yu hurried up to the car.

In a shopping district, Dojima stopped the car at a gas station as an attendant came "Hi! Welcome to Moel!" The attendant said as Dojima, Nanako, and Yu got out of the car.

"Can you go to the bathroom by yourself?" Dojima asks Nanako.

"Uh-huh." Nanako said as she looked around.

"It's in the back, to your left. You know which way's left? The side you don't hold chopsticks in." The attendant said as Nanako felt annoyed.

"I know… Geez…" Nanako mumbled as she went to the back to use the restroom when the Attendant saw Yu.

"Are you taking a trip?" The attendant asks.

"No, we just went to pick him up. He just moved here from the big city." Dojima said.

"The city, huh…?" Dojima then turns to his car.

"Fill my car up while you're at it. Regular's fine." Dojima said.

"Right away, sir!" The attendant said.

"Good a time as any for a smoke…" Dojima then walked away, pulling out a cigarette and a lighter as the attendant walked up to Yu.

"Are you in High school?" Yu turned to the attendant "Does it surprise a city boy to see how little there is out here? There's so little out here, i'm sure you'll get bored fast. You'll be either hanging out with friends or doing part-time jobs. Speaking of which, we're actually looking for part-time help right now." She then walks over to Yu "Give it some thought, why don't you. We don't mind if you're a student."

"Sure." Yu and the attendant shaked hands as Nanako returned from the restroom.

"Oh, i should get back to work." As soon as the attendant left, Yu suddenly felt light headed and stumbled a little.

"...Are you okay?" Nanako asks as she walks up to Yu "Did you get car sick? You don't look too good." Just then, Dojima returns from his smoke and sees Yu.

"What's wrong? You okay?" Dojima asks.

"Yeah. Just a little tired." Yu said.

"That's understandable. It must have been a long trip for you. Why not take a little walk, get some fresh air? Just let me know when you're ready to go." Dojima said as Yu nods and he walks around the shopping district of Inaba for a bit and then seeing some people living their lives.

After going around the shopping district for a bit, Yu went to go talk with Dojima and Nanako "How're you feeling? Ready to get back in the car?" Dojima asks.

"Yeah, i think i'm fine now." Yu said.

"All right , let's hit the road then." Dojima said as he, Yu and Nanako went into the car and drives off.

In the residential area, Dojima parks the car next to the house and the three went inside. Yu looked around at his new home for the next year.

Evening

It was dinner time for the Dojima family as they each took a drink "All right, let's have a toast." Dojima said as the three of them took a sip of their drinks.

"So… your mom and dad are as busy as ever… They're working overseas, was it?" Dojima asks "I know it's only for a year, but getting stuck in a place like this because of your parents… it's rough being a kid. Well, it's just me and Nanako here, so it'll be nice having someone like you around. So as long as you're here, you're part of the family, make yourself at home."

"Thank you for your kindness." Yu said politely but Dojima just laughs.

"C'mon, there's no need to be formal. Look, you're making Nanako all tense." Dojima said as Nanako just looked down, her face being as red as her pink ribbons "Anyways… let's eat." before they could begin eating though, Dojima gets a call on his phone "Ugh… Who's calling at this hour?" Dojima pulls out his cellphone and answers.

"...Dojima speaking." Dojima standed up and went into the corner of the room as the man on the other side of the phone told him something "Yeah? I see… so where is it?" Dojima heard the person on the other side telling him where to go "All right, I'm on my way." Dojima said as he put his cellphone away into his pocket "Looks like i made the right choice to skip the booze…" He turns to Yu.

"Sorry, but i gotta go and take care of some business. Go ahead and eat without me." Nanako knew what was going on as she stood up "I don't know how late i'll be. Nanako, you help him out, okay?" Dojima asks.

Nanako looked a little sad "...Okay." She simply said as her father makes his way to the door of the house.

"Nanako, it's raining out. What did you do with the laundry!?" Dojima asks as he grabs an umbrella.

"I already brought it in!" Nanako replied.

"...All right. Well, i'm off." Dojima said as he left the house.

Nanako sat back down and turned on the tv that was showing the local news "-for this week. Next, let's take a look at the hourly breakdown of tomorrow's weather. With storm clouds moving from the west, expect rain throughout the day tomorrow in most areas."

"...Let's eat." Yu was alone with Nanako. He begins to strike a conversation with his cousin.

"So, what does your dad do?" Yu asks.

"He… investigates stuff. Like crime scenes." Nanako replied.

"So he's a detective." Yu said.

"...Yeah." Nanako said as the news continues.

"And now for the local news. City council secretary Taro Namatame is under fire for an alleged relationship with a female reporter. His wife, enka ballad sensation Misuzu Hiiragi, revealed to this station that she will most likely pursue damages. In response, Eye Television has decided to cancel all of announcer Mayumi Yamano's televised appearances. Until allegations of an affair with Mr. Namatame is resolved, she'll remain off the air and out of the public eye."

"...This is boring." Nanako said as she switched the channel to a commercial.

"At Junes, every day is customer appreciation day. Come see for yourself, and get in touch with our products. Every day's great at your Junes!"

"Every day's great at your Junes!" Nanako singed as Yu looks at her "Aren't you going to eat?"

Yu looks back at his food and begins to finish eating for the night.

After eating, Yu went upstairs and saw his room. "I guess i'll have to unpack tomorrow after school." Yu said as he put on his sleeping attire and headed to bed for the night.

When Yu opened his eyes, he saw that he was in a white void covered by a thick fog "Where am i?" Yu asks himself as he hears a voice.

"Do you seek the truth?"

"What?" Yu asks as he runs towards the voice.

"If it's the truth you desire, then come and find me…" Yu keeps running to the voice when he sees a strange looking door and when he opens it, he finds a silhouette of a person and sees he was holding a katana in his hands.

"So… you are the one pursuing me… Hmhmhm… Try all you like…" The voice said as Yu strikes with the Katana "Hmmm… It seems you can see so little, despite the fog…" Yu then strikes the silhouette again "I see… Indeed… That is very interesting information…" Yu keeps using the same attack but the voice simply chuckles "But… you will not catch me so easily. If what you seek is "Truth", Then your search will be even harder…" The voice said as it creates more fog.

"What is this?!" Yu asks as his vision becomes clouded by the fog.

"...Will we meet again…? At a place other than here… Hmhm… i look forward to it…" That was the last thing Yu heard when his vision faded into black.
