Summary

These events take place near the end of New Moon

Bella takes Aro up on his offer of joining the Volturi, finally seeing Edward for who he is and leaving him to die, like he did to her, many months ago. Alice also agrees to join, not wanting to lose her sister and also seeing the truth about the Cullens at last. Victoria is also somehow involved in this story, wanting revenge on the Cullens as much as Bella and Alice do. Bella finds a great friendship in Jane and a mate in someone in the coven, who is it?

I have changed some of the characters gifts and behaviors to fit correctly with the story, hope you guys don't mind and I hope you enjoy this fanfic as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Chapter 1~ Decisions

"I mean her no harm. But I am so curious, about one thing in particular." Aro eyed me with bright interest, his crimson eyes intimidating.

"May I?" He asked eagerly, lifting one hand in my direction.

I looked up at Edward, either way I knew I didn't have much of a choice, but I still wanted to see what he thought about Aro being so close. If he was going to hurt me or not.

Edward simply nodded, and I took that as Aro was just simply curious and had no intention of harming me at the moment.

I slowly approached him, and he stepped towards me eagerly. I tensed at the sudden closure between us, but put my hand in his as he tried to read my thoughts.

"Magnificent!" He exclaimed joyously. "Perhaps our other gifts may not work on her?" He then released my hand and I stepped back. Edward looked at Aro with a slight expression of horror on his face, he then jumped in front of me, putting himself between me and the rest of the guard.

I looked up at him questioning, he was glaring at Aro and eyeing Jane nervously. I could tell almost instantly that Aro was thinking about trying Jane's gift on me to see if it would work.

I stepped out from behind Edward and looked at Aro, nodding to show him that it was fine with me to try. Aro smiled "Jane, dear?"

She looked up at him. "Yes, Master?"

"I was wondering, if Bella is immune to you." He said, with slight curiosity in his tone. Jane then looked at me.

Edward jumped in front of me again and fell to the floor withering in pain. I stared down at him horror-struck, but then I felt a slight sensation of pleasure as I saw him twitching on the floor. I felt guilty for a second, but I couldn't hide my smile as I looked up at Jane, she noticed and gave me a slight smirk back.

Alice beside me, who has been very quite in the past few minutes, suddenly looked up at Aro and gave him a look of desperation as she was forced to listen to Edward's screams.

Aro held up his hand and almost instantly Jane stopped, Edward got up and muttered something sounding like "sorry." He then moved my side and lowered his head.

Jane then stared at me for a moment, before scowling slightly and looking back at Aro, who looked even more pleased then before.

"Fantastic! Bella seems to be immune to most of our gifts, I wonder if she is a shield? Her gift will grow if she is turned..." Aro trailed off, lost in thought. Edward growled, seeming to not like what Aro was thinking.

Caius then cleared his throat, everyone looked at him, waiting for him to say something. "Excuse me Aro, hate to interpret your joyous discovery." Aro waved him off momentarily. "But I'm afraid the Cullens have broken our most important law, exposer." At that half the room gasped, realizing that Caius words were true. Caius looked smug as he continued.

"From my knowledge, Edward told Bella of our existence, then left her in Forks, Washington, by herself for around five months before coming here. Do you deny this?"

Edward shook his head, staring at the floor.

"Very well then. Bella could have told anyone our secret and they would start digging deeper, eventually figuring it out. This law is punishable by death, Felix?"

Edward instantly grabbed me, along with Alice. Felix leaped at us, but before he could do anything, Aro held up his hand.

The whole room froze, but Edward continued to glare at Felix, daring him to come closer.

Aro then said "Hold on, Caius aren't you forgetting something?" He gestured to him and Marcus, who looked bored and depressed. "We are a coven, we make decisions together, I understand that they broke the law, but with their gifts they can make a choice."

With that, Edward stopped looking at Felix and stared intently at Aro. Edward then growled, not liking what he heard. Alice on the other hand looked down at the floor, seeming to be lost in thought.

Aro smiled at Edward, Alice and me. "All of your talents would be very useful to the Volturi Guard, would any of you be interested in joining us?"

When no one said anything, Aro spoke once more. "It would be such a waste to kill you, but if you turn Bella, we could make a proposal."

Edward said through growling, "Bella will be one of us some day, but not any time soon." With that I tensed at his side, pained by his words, all I wanted from him now was immortality. I knew by what he said I won't get it if I stay with him, I knew what I had to do.

Aro seemed disappointed at Edward's words, "Very well then, would any of you still like to consider joining us?"

Edward grimaced, "I'd...rather...not." He seemed to be choosing his words carefully.

Aro frowned for the first time that day. "Alice? I don't suppose you would consider my offer?"

Alice tensed and looked at the floor, something was wrong. "N-no, thank you" she said it in a tone that was very hesitant, almost as if she didn't mean what she said.

"And you, Bella?" Aro raised his eyebrows, hope filled his intimidating blood red eyes.

"I-" I was cut off by Edward who instantly said "No, Bella is part of my coven and she will not be joining-" he was then cut off and dropped, screaming and twitching, to the floor.

I looked up at Jane and raised an eyebrow, she smiled at me, "I think Bella can make decisions for herself, Edward." She sneered his name in disgust.

I smiled back at her, Edward stopped twitching and got up, only to look down at the floor again, not saying a word. Alice looked at me in astonishment, then slightly smiled proudly, nodding at me to say something.

I was about to speak, but before I could say anything, I noticed Marcus was looking back and forth between me and Jane, seemingly not so bored anymore. Marcus then brushed his hand against Aro and looked back at me, Aro looked at me too and seemed pleased, probably because of what Marcus just "told" him.

I know what I have to do now.

"I..." I first looked at Edward, he stared right back trying to understand me, nodding and shaking his head at the same time. It doesn't really matter much to me what he says, I don't care about him anymore, after all he used me and left me to die in those woods.

I looked at Jane, I don't know why but I seem to have a connection with her, I trust her. She smiled slightly and nodded encouragingly.

Alice just looked dead, but seemed to brighten slightly when I glanced at her.

I'm ready for this, I told myself weakly, this is the only way I'll be able to live my life to the fullest. I'd rather this than death, although I doubt Aro would kill me. I feel a sudden rush of power through my veins as Aro looks at me with deep curiosity and interest.

Can't keep him waiting anymore. Time to give him what he wants.

"It would be a pleasure to join you and your guard" I finished with a final word and a slight bow "Master."
