William Afton and his business partner Henry Emily opened an animatronic restaurant called Fredbear's Family Diner, this restaurant has two animatronics designed by Henry and William A yellow bear named Fredbear and a yellow Bunny called Spring bonnie. The animatronics used a mechanism called spring locks that when cranked back could back the animatronic parts so an actor could climb inside. But the spring locks are very sensitive to moisture and would snap back into place, and if someone were inside that person would be killed. William would learn this the hard hard way. While he was wearing the Springbonnie suit minus the head and accidentally set off the spring locks nearly killing him, Henry was there to help him out. But besides that Fredbear's was a success and it even got a cartoon called Fredbaer and Friends, the restaurant even got an extra character Foxy the Pirate Fox but all of that would change in 1983 when William's youngest son Evan was celebrating his birthday at Fredbears when his older brother Micheal decided to pull a prank on Evan by shoving his head into Fredbears mouth but this would be a grave mistake as Fredbear would bite down on the boy's head nearly killing him. At the Hospital, Michael apologizes to Evan for the prank as the boy dies.

Henry and William were forced to close the diner after the incident. William began to hate Michael for his "prank" Evan was dead and it was all Michael's fault.
