It was late, very late. The team were waiting on tenderhooks for the command to breach. One such team member was spencer Reid who was praying nothing went wrong for he had to get home safely. Something felt weird though, call it intuition but Spencer had a feeling something was going to go wrong.
He didn't have much time to ponder it however as Hotch called over the comms for him to enter. Only when he did enter he was meant with the barrel of a gun and the sound of a shot. He didn't register the pain at first, only the shock that the bullet had managed to get through his vest. He didn't register his team shouting for him or apprehending the unsub. He only registered the shock and then the pain. He didn't see the EMTs try to shout his name. His vision was starting to blur but in the back of his mind, he knew he had to do something, or more specifically shout for someone. He gargled for Morgan, who appeared rather suddenly.
"Reid, Reid, don't talk!" he said. Reid shook his head, feeling the metallic taste in his mouth.
"C-call Garcia" he rasped. Morgan nodded, promising he would but Reid knew he wouldn't understand the significance.
"Tell Riley" and before Morgan could reply Reid's eyes rolled to the back of his head.
When he woke up that morning The alarm rang through his room, making him wake from his sweet dreams. Groggily he sat up, trying to wake up fully. As his brain cleared, he turned to the woman next to him and grinned. He drank her in, she was always running around when she was awake so seeing her asleep was always something else. Her face seemed a lot more at ease when she was asleep. He ran a finger from her hip bone up to her shoulders, grinning as she shuddered. Slowly he pushed her hair behind her ear and kissed the nape of her neck. She groaned which send a thrill down his spine.
"Spencer" she groaned. Spencer chuckled
"What?" the woman turned on her back so that she was facing him, her brunette hair was splayed across her pillow.
"You start this and you're going to be late for work." Spencer grinned
"You say that like it's a bad thing" she rolled her eyes. Spencer leaned over her, she bit her lip, eyeing him up and down.
"How would you explain why you were late?" she asked. He grinned, leaning down, hovering his lips over hers.
"Traffic" then he kissed her, she wrapped her hands around him, deepening the kiss. After a moment she broke away.
"You need to get ready for work" she insisted. Spencer rolled his eyes
"Thought I was supposed to be the organised one" she scoffed and leant up to kiss him one more time before rolling out from under him. Spencer turned to stare at her as she left the room, wondering how he got so lucky.
Once he had done what she asked and got ready for work he met her in their kitchen.
"You know Spence, anyone would think I didn't exist" Spencer looked up, perplexed.
"Why is that?"
"Maybe because you like to keep wrapped up in your own little bubble" she suggested. Spenser sighed.
"I know... I just need you to be safe" he admitted, attempting to fix his tie. She smiled at him, batting his hands away and helping him with his tie.
"You are lucky I love you," she said. Reid smiled, leaning down and kissing her again. When they pulled apart Reid kissed her forehead.
"Promise me you'll make it home tonight?" she begged. Reid looked down at her
"I promise to try"
"That's all I can ask" they stared at each other for a few moments before Reid's phone once again disturbed the silence. He sighed
"I've got to go," she said nothing but nodded in acceptance, he frowned and kissed her one last time as he ran to the door.
"I love you" he shouted over his shoulder, she shouted she loved him back as Reid got into his car and drove away
