Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Warhammer. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Warhammer, Gameworkshop and a few others do.
The Tyranids. A race deemed so barbarically, so ravenous, so… Alien, that nothing could even attempt to understand it, reason with it, even attempt to find some inkling of a possible truce or even bargaining with their kind.
At their heart, however? Something… New was occurring. They fed through devouring genetic material to sate their undying hunger, to evolve to better soothe their points.
Now? it seemed as if some new genetic material had an odd effect on them, it was slowly, surely taking root in their insectoid bodies as their species began to change.
They would not know that they had been chosen for such, a destiny beyond their understanding, beyond their control… What had been done would change their species forever from what had been done… What could be dusted?
If anything? This species had been dwelling in hideous darkness for too long, their savior had come, only unknowing what had been done and what would be dusted before now.
Then came the footsteps, a large creature with leathery wings sheered itself from the sinewy walls of the hive, their bulk lumbering across the room as if more curious about what was in front of it than the smaller creatures around it.
Its wings spread out as the first drops of sunlight shed upon its body. A Hive Tyrant is one of the more advanced members of their species. The beast began to roar, mucus and bile spreading out from this… There was something that made the beast question what to do next.
The Hive Tyrant seemed to spread its wings before it marched past the rows of other Tyrranid creatures, they were all creatures of burden, of instincts that had been prepared for the best.
The creature sniffed the air, unsure of what to do next, wrapping its wings around its body, unsure of what would be coming next.
(In the space above)
He was too unsure of what the species would do. If anything? There was too much on the line for them not to properly understand what had been going on for now. There was a lot more going on.
"The uplifting procedure has been initiated, in 24 hours? They should be properly evolved for the next phase of the plan." One of the beings stated before he frowned. "How did you manage to get the DNA to their hive mind?" He questioned before he was frowning.
"A complex DNA cocktail introduced directly into one of the hive nodes." Another voice stated while he frowned. "The Hive mind didn't think of it as anything more than new genetic material to properly absorb which meant they'd treat it no differently than whatever else they absorbed." He added while he rubbed at his nose.
"What exactly will happen then? They just absorb the material and then develop their bodies around it to find a counteragent." The other voice stated to which he seemed to be beside himself.
There was nothing worse than what had been done if this experiment… No, a military plan that needed to be executed perhaps flawlessly, he questioned what to do next.
"What will happen?" He questioned before he sighed, unsure before now.
The Tyranids before now had been monsters, a species of ravenous hunger, one which had no real limits at all. If nothing else before now. They had nothing else besides time and effort to properly focus on whatever had been done and dusted… What had been perhaps coming next when it came down to it.
They had nightmares to focus upon, one which would be a lot more focusing on whatever had been coming next. He was a lot more unsure of whatever was coming next.
The Tyranids were beasts, ones that could be a threat to the entire galaxy… But even a portion with sentience beyond hunger? Well, some decided the risk of the entire galaxy being consumed was worth it, there was more to be done that required their talents even if nothing else, a species that needed to be ready for the best, there was something that needed to be on the frontlines of combat.
The nightmare had only just begun when it came down to it. There were a lot more frightening things than those who thirsted.
Author Notes
Phew. The first chapter is done! I want to point out this story is going to be taking a LOT of liberties with the Tyranids. I also want to point out this will be a crossover. I will let readers pick from RWBY, Star Wars, Halo, or Mass Effect. The first chapter was made to be vague to set up the crossover. The next chapter is 900-6500 words and will show the main Tyranid the story will follow and more about the plot. Until 2-10 months, Lighting Wolf out!
