It was a regular day in the UA dorms. Like always Izuku was up earlier than most of his classmates. He made his way out of his room and toward the common area. He was currently wearing workout clothes consisting of black shorts one of his one-word t-shirts and his light blue hoodie.
He walked into the common area and grabbed a bottle of water as he went. He pulled out his earphones and was about to connect them to his phone but stopped himself as he saw a person sitting by themself just ahead of where he was.
He stepped a bit closer and saw her iconic black hair tied into a spiky ponytail. There sitting in the centre of the room was none other than Momo Yaoyorozu. Even from the distance they were at Izuku could tell something was bothering the girl. He stood there just staring for a few seconds before stepping forward slightly.
*Crrrreak*
The floorboards screamed as he stepped onto them. The girl looked toward him with fear in her eyes which quickly dissipated when she saw who was standing there. "Oh, Midoriya. How long have you been standing there?" The worry in her eyes disappeared as she spoke. Despite that Izuku wondered what could bother her of all people.
"W-well n-n-not that l-long." He stuttered out. She didn't look that convinced. But before she could speak up Izuku began walking past her toward the exit. "Um see you l-later." He said as he walked out and put his earphones in.
Started his jog, he ran down the pathway not looking back once. The look in her eyes never wavering from his mind.
After his morning run, Izuku found himself peeking his head into the dorms to lookout for Yaoyorozu. He let out a relieved sigh seeing Yaoyorozu was not there. He walked in thankful for that. That was not a conversation Izuku needed right now. He was still trying to figure out how his new Shoot-Style was going to work.
And while he wanted to see what the problem was and help her out. The first time he did that he scarred his left hand due to breaking his fingers more times than he could count. And the last time, he gained another scar on his right arm. He feared for what else he could scar next. But mostly she was a girl…Izuku didn't have the most experience with dealing with the opposite sex, so how was he supposed to help her properly if he couldn't even talk to her without stuttering.
He walked in and made his way toward his room to grab his school uniform. After gaining hold of it he went to the male shower to get in a quick wash. He walked out and into the common area once again. This time though he was there for breakfast before he started school.
It was a rather normal morning apart from his meeting with Yaoyorozu. Izuku made his way to the UA school building with his friends Iida, Uraraka and Todoroki. He felt like telling Uraraka or Todoroki what had happened with Yaoyorozu that morning but ultimately decided against it. He didn't want to put more on their shoulders than what was already there.
However, as the day went on he couldn't get that look on her face out of his head. He couldn't focus on his schoolwork because he kept wondering what was bothering her. Was it the provisional licence exam coming up or was it something else?
When he helped Todoroki the problem basically slapped him in the face but this time he had no idea.
Questions bothered him until their training for the exam.
It was like every other day the class were each in their own little areas training with their quirks to the best of their ability. Izuku was still practising his Shoot-Style hoping to at least make something worth using in the exam.
He did another kick just like how Iida taught him to. The lightning flowing around him followed along with his movements. "AHHH!" A scream came from his right. He turned to see Yaoyorozu falling from a high ledge.
Without thinking he boosted One for All up to 10% and shot to another wall like a speeding bullet. He launched off that wall shattering the rock as if it were glass. He grabbed her in a classic princess carry before landing with her in his arms.
Onlookers would describe it as a green bolt of lightning shot from the wall itself.
Izuku looked down at the girl in his arms. "Are you okay?" He asked. Concern was clear in his voice. Then suddenly while looking at the girl, her face turned bright red. It was then he realised just how he was holding her. His face immediately became hot. He put her down gently.
"S-sorry about t-t-that. H-h-h-h-have fu-fun." He said before blasting away faster than he arrived but this time without the use of his quirk. He gave one quick glance back toward her and saw her staring at his back.
It was now after school and everyone was hanging out in dorms. Although almost the entire class were in the common area most people were with their tight-knit little groups. Izuku was hanging around with Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki and Asui. Throughout his time at UA, these were the people that he got the closest to.
As they talked Asui pointed something out to the group. "Wasn't Yaoyorozu a bit weird today?" She asked. Her tone of voice showed that it wasn't negative rather she was concerned for the girl. "Yeah, I noticed that." Uraraka agreed as she glanced over to Izuku.
Izuku on the other hand just watched the conversation unfold. "Where is Yaoyorozu anyway?" Todoroki asked. Following that Izuku gave a quick look around the room and noticed that the dark-haired girl was nowhere to be seen.
"I think she said she was feeling sick?" Uraraka said.
"That would explain what happened during training." Iida recalled her falling down. Once again another one of them took a fast look at Izuku who was being silent.
Izuku had a bad feeling about something. "Sorry, guys I'm gonna withdraw for the night." Izuku said with a slight smile. He gave them a quick wave before leaving. He went to the staircase and began ascending the stairs.
'I wonder what was wrong with Yaoyorozu today? It isn't like her to mess up like she did. Was she really feeling sick all day? That would explain why she looked so bothered this morning. But why wouldn't she say anything all day? Why wait until now?' As all these thoughts passed through his head, Izuku stopped walking.
He was standing in front of a door. Izuku's hand was in front of him. Closed.
He looked at the name on the door and saw Yaoyorozu written on the front. "huh?" The door slowly opened with Yaoyorozu sticking her black hair out of the crack. "Oh, Midoriya. What're you doing here?"
'Good question.' "O-oh umm uhh, I just thought I'd come to see how you are." Looking at her, she didn't look sick. "Oh, well I'm feeling a bit better than before. Thank you for coming to check on me. If that's all I'll be getting back to lying down now." She said as she went to close the door.
Izuku saw this and felt weird. 'Are you really just going to let her leave? What if something is wrong?' These thoughts echoed in the back of his mind as the door got closer to being shut. "UMM YAOYOROZU!" He quickly placed his hand over his mouth as he didn't intend on shouting.
Yaoyorozu popped her head out of the door once again. "Yes?" She asked. Izuku steeled his resolve and opened his mouth to speak.
"If you need someone to talk to I'm here for you okay."
He said without a single stutter. Although his eyes were closed tightly. It then clicked in his head exactly what he said. "Um, by that I mean the whole class…not just me." He finally opened his eyes and saw Yaoyorozu with tears in her eyes. Izuku did not know what to do in this situation.
Comforting someone was something Izuku was not very used to. Much less a crying girl. So Izuku froze up for a second unsure of how to process this. He looked at the girl just staring at him. Then she quickly wiped the tears away. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me just now."
"W-well I'm just gl-glad I said that hehe. Um, I'll take my leave now." Izuku said now trying to get away from the conversation. "See you later." He said with a wave as he bolted down the hallway and to his room.
Once in his room, he calmed himself down. His heart was beating a mile a minute. Every time he helps someone he's got adrenaline pumping through his body. But this time nothing. He wasn't in massive amounts of pain. There was no villain. Just his words and the girl he was trying to help.
He quickly managed to get his nerves under control and lay down on his bed. 'What if she just thinks I'm annoying?' This question plagued him as he fell into a deep sleep.
*BEEP…BEEP…BEEP SLAM*
Izuku's hand hit the top of his alarm. He slowly rose up out of his bed and got up.
It was a regular day in the UA dorms. Like always Izuku was up earlier than most of his classmates. He made his way out of his room and toward the common area. He was currently wearing workout clothes consisting of grey shorts and another one of his one-word t-shirts. Over the top of that was a dark green hoodie.
He made his way to the common room of the 1-A dorms. He went to the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of water. He pulled out his earphones as he made his way to the door but stopped himself when the reflection of the glass showed another person standing behind him.
He turned around and saw none other than Momo Yaoyorozu looking at him. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped. Her eyes told a different story than yesterday. Yesterday she looked distant and almost lonely. But today she looked determined and ready.
She stepped forward and closer to Izuku. "Thank you for yesterday." She started off with. "It helped me to make up my mind… Midoriya will you-"
Just Over 24 Hours Ago.
Momo Yaoyorozu slowly crawled out of her bed. Her mind was still stuck on a conversation with her dad the night before.
"I'm sorry but with all the villain attacks recently and now that All Might has retired I cannot allow you to stay at UA. We will be moving away from Japan and going to America."
"Bu-but Father."
"No buts. You will be joining us when we leave." Momo's attempt to argue back ended in failure. Her father's quirk definitely played a big role in her failure. She looked at the ground. "You have 1 week. Be prepared to leave then."
"Yes, Father." She simply said before ending the call.
She hadn't gotten any sleep thanks to that. She had been lying there all night unable to sleep.
Reliving the memory in her mind for the hundredth time Momo walked into the common area. It was early, really early so thankfully no one was awake yet. She let out a sigh. Seeing this room which was usually upbeat and filled with people being empty was slightly weird.
Looking out the window Momo saw the early morning sun rising in the distance. Shadows cast by the trees on the walkway drew her eyes. It was beautiful. If this view was an art piece she would title it "Paradise." And to think this might be the last time she ever gets to see it.
*Crrrrreak*
A sound from behind caught her off guard. She whipped her head behind her to see who was there. Her eyes were met with an ocean of emerald. Standing there watching her was none other than Izuku Midoriya. She calmed down after seeing who it was.
Izuku Midoriya. Most likely the strongest member of their class. His smarts were only second to her. But his ability to think on his feet in stressful situations was what made him a true force to be reckoned with. However, none of the class had seen what he was truly capable of.
When they were in the hospital after the attack in the forest they were all shown a picture of the villains. But there was one nobody but Midoriya recognised. He had blond hair and was missing an eye. From what the police report said he had a muscle-related quirk. And one of the others they arrested was terrified of him. Even refusing to sit in the same cell as the man. That villain later went on to admit that he was the strongest of their entire team.
And supposedly Midoriya took him down by himself. Albeit from him breaking and permanently scarring his arm in the process.
Yet the boy in front of her didn't have the look of someone who could level a building. Even so, appearances can be deceiving. "Oh, Midoriya. How long have you been standing there?"
The calm light around the boy disappeared as he began jittering around like a headless chicken. Clearly, he was looking for the right words. "W-well n-n-not that l-long." He managed to say. Momo was having a hard time believing that. Be it the way he said that or his fidgeting.
She went to speak up about it. But stopped as Midoriya rushed past her and out the door. "Um, see you l-later." He was gone before she even got the chance to question him. She watched him walk out of the building and then take off down the pathway. Momo made a mental note to talk with him later when she gets a chance.
After that, she quickly rushed off toward the shower room. Hoping to get a quick one in before the rest of her fellow classmates woke up.
Momo after leaving the shower got ready and set off for school.
She went by herself something that was rather unusual to her due to always walking in with Asui. She arrived just before the class actually started. Her weirdly late arrival gained a few views from a few of her classmates however, she didn't really care. Her sights were set on Midoriya.
A Little Bit Later In The Day
She traded blows with Ectoplasm training to make a few ultimate moves for the upcoming provisional licence exam. "Your footwork needs attention!" Ectoplasm said as he swung his foot down toward the girl's head. She managed to make a metal pole to defend against the attack.
His attack drilled through and knocked her off balance. After a speedy recovery, she swung the pole aiming for his head. It missed as he dodged by a hair's length. Momo had put all her weight into the attack causing her to lose balance once again.
She planted her foot on the edge catching herself just before falling off. As she did the rock cracked and broke apart. "AHHH!" She let a scream of fear as she fell through the air unable to stop herself. The first thing she saw was her teacher reach out and try to grab hold of her. He missed.
She could see Aizawa grab hold of his scarf and a few of her classmates ready themselves to leap in to save her. However, her eyes ended up going to the side where she could see a green light.
Her vision landed on a boy who was already in the air. He grabbed onto another rock. She could see it.
Thinking back to before when they saw each other in the morning. His eyes told her that he was nervous. Unsure of what he was going to say and do. But not now.
Right now, in this very moment. He didn't have a scared or nervous look in his eyes. Right now his eyes spoke of the confidence he had in his quirk. And in himself.
She heard the sound of a wall shattering as he got closer. She felt him grab her and push them toward the ground where he slid to a stop. All the while still holding her in his arms. His green lightning began touching her but it didn't hurt like you would expect it to. Instead, it felt…nice. Like a warm feeling.
"Are you okay?" The way he asked that showed how worried he was. She felt her face heat up in an instant. The look in his eyes changed from that of a hero's to that nervous boy she was so used to seeing. His face lit up becoming bright red. Quickly he placed her down. "S-sorry about t-t-that. H-h-h-h-have fu-fun." He stuttered out before zipping away without the use of the green lightning.
Momo watched him shoot away. A single thought crossed her mind as she stared at him.
'I didn't get to thank you.'
As they were on their way back to the dorms Momo couldn't help but remember Midoriya's face. It had been playing on loop in her mind since it happened. Quickly overtaking the conversation with her Father.
Oh…yeah…that. And once again she thought of his words. How she has to leave. How she can't see those she cares for anymore.
A tap on her shoulder knocked her back to reality. She turned around to see Uraraka standing there with a smile on her unusually round face. "You okay, Yaomomo?" Clearly, she was quite worried but favoured having a smile and being happy over letting it show.
Momo would be lying if she said she wasn't at least somewhat glad to have such a happy person in her life. But that makes the fact she's being taken away all the more painful.
"Yeah, I just feel a bit sick today." She said with a smile.
Just forcing that smile was clearly quite taxing on the girl.
"Well, I hope you get better soon." Uraraka said. Her smile had faded a little seeing the girl's fake one.
"Thank you." Momo said as she left the area.
Finally, the entire class made it to the dorms. Momo rushed up the stairs and to her room to get away from it all. As she sat down on her bed. Her mind wouldn't let her escape the truth.
This was her last week at UA. Her last week with her friends. The people she met.
As she thought this her classmates flashed through her mind.
Her unlikely friend, Kyoka Jiro. The punk-rock girl Momo had become good friends with during their time at the USJ.
The class president, Tenya Iida. The uptight guy that he was. They had gotten to know each other due to doing extra work with him.
Son of Endeavor. Shoto Todoroki. During their final exams, he had given her the push needed to come up with a plan.
Ochako Uraraka, Mina Ashido, Tooru Hagakure, Tsuyu Asui and hell even Mineta Minoru.
She would miss them all. So much.
And finally…*Knock Knock Knock*
Three knocks at her door broke her out of her thought. She got up and walked over to the door and opened it. She peeked her head around the crack and saw someone she didn't expect.
Standing there was none other than Izuku Midoirya. The last person on her list. Was on standing right in front of her. "Oh, Midoriya. What're you doing here?" She asked. Wondering why he was here.
"O-oh umm uhh, I just thought I'd come to see how you are." His eyes seemed to be scanning her for something. Of course, she noticed this. "Oh, well I'm feeling a bit better than before. Thank you for coming to check on me. If that's all I'll be getting back to lying down now." She said wanting this conversation to be over as fast as possible. The more time she sees them all will make it worse when the time comes.
She started closing the door when. "UM YAOYOROZU!" Midoriya shouted in the middle of the 5th floor. He seemed to notice that he shouted and covered his mouth. "Yes?"
"If you need someone to talk to I'm here for you okay."
She looked at him as he spoke. It all made sense now.
He knew something was wrong. He had known all day. He just didn't know how to approach it. He wanted to help but couldn't come up with a way to do so. She felt water build up in her eyes. But despite the tears, she felt a strange warmth in her chest. "Um, by that I mean the whole class…not just me." He jittered out.
He looked up and saw her crying. A look of confusion appeared on his face, then it quickly changed to one of panic. Seeing how fast this boy could change his emotions made her a little bit happy. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me just now." She said as she wiped away the tears.
"W-well I'm just gl-glad I said that hehe. Um, I'll take my leave now." Midoriya said in a small panic clearly trying to leave the conversation. "See you later." He waved as he left.
Momo closed the door and looked at her bed.
Her mind was made up.
She had a plan, one that could allow her to stay in UA. She laid down on her bed and quickly fell asleep due to the exhaustion building up throughout the day. That and she needed to be awake early in the morning.
The Next Morning
Momo got out of bed at roughly the same time as she had yesterday. This was her one chance. She switched out of her bedwear and put on some normal clothes before heading downstairs.
As she went she hoped and prayed that he was awake again.
She noticed the closer she got to the common area the faster she was going. She was excited about this.
She got to the bottom of the stairs and calmed down a bit before stepping out onto the first floor.
There it was. The image of "Paradise" except this time there stood a green-haired boy in the very centre. The sun's light seemed to shroud him.
Just yesterday he was the one staring. Now she was.
He turned around to face her.
"Thank you for yesterday."
"It helped me to make up my mind… Midoriya will you.."
She gulped back all her anxiety. She met his eyes.
"Will you…marry me?"
