It was silent in the cave as Dune and Kestrel waited for Webs to return with the Skywing egg.

Kestrel: …Morrowseer could have said that there were supposed to be two Nightwing eggs. Webs would have stolen two Seawing eggs.

Dune: Maybe he likes even numbers.

Kestrel: That's one of the dumbest things you've ever said.

While they were talking the Mudwing was beginning to hatch, signaled by a cracking sound that got the guardians attention.

Kestrel: The Mudwings hatching.

Dune: It can't hatch yet! We only have four!

Kestrel: Feel free to explain that to the egg.

Webs had finally bolted in holding a multicolored Rainwing egg. And Kestrel was quick to point this out.

Kestrel: Webs. That's a Rainwing egg. You brainless salamander.

Webs: Its all I could get!

Dune: Put it with the others. Quick!

The Mudwing egg was cracking even louder now.

Kestrel: The prophecy calls for a Skywing. And you bring us a Lazy, Stupid, Rainwing?

Webs: Queen scarlet destroyed all the Skywing eggs that would have hatched tonight. And we need five Dragonets for the prophecy!

Dune: LOOK! He's hatched.

He said as the Mudwing hatched and looked at the other unhatched eggs.

Dune: So that's a baby Mudwing.

Webs: He's kind of… Cute. A little… Blobbier than I expected.

Kestrel: He looks dim. Exactly as I expected.

Webs: We need a Mudwing name for him.

Dune: Yes. Something… Muddy.

Kestrel: Very insightful. Dune.

Webs: How about Clay?

While the guardians were arguing about what name to give to the Mudwing, the Mudwing in question was making a sizeable hole in the egg beside him. A Large Blue spotted Nightwing egg and had only stopped when a large green eye was visible through the hole. He flopped to the floor and tackled the blue Seawing egg making the Seawing inside let out a roar of surprise that caught the attention of the Guardians.

Dune: What is he doing?

Webs: He's attacking them! Stop that!

Kestrels red paw picked Clay up and held him close to her face.

Dune: Kestrel. What is wrong with him?

Kestrel: Nothing. He's just what we need. A little monster.
