Catalina De La Rosa was a bad ass in her day, she got in the Mafia thanks to her friend Baghra Morozova who was the daughter of the Godfather at the time. She would follow her assignments without fail and always come back successful. In fact she was named "The Sun light" because of her Grisha power because when people saw her in among the group they'd always be worried on what she would do.
Time passed since then and Catalina grew not so found of this life as she was heading home from a meeting when she'd met him. Jorge Silina, an Inferni who had gone to the same school as her when they were youger and he had a crush on her. He approached her one day offering her a rose. "Aren't you afraid of me?" Catalina asked as he looked at her "Why would I be? You're as beautiful as the day I saw you in school." Jorge said as Catalina accepted the rose. Something started within her that she never knew she needed. Love, something the Mafia thought was not necessary.
She went out with him a few time and after three years of being together he asked her to marry him. She said yes but knew to protect her family she'd need to step down from the Mafia. Baghra had been the one to get her in so she had to go to Baghra to get out. As she went in one day she walked over to Baghra. "Can I speak with you?" Catalina asked as she nod walking to where they were alone. "What's up Lina?" Baghra asked using her nickname she'd given her when they'd first became friends. "I'm getting married, I want out." Catalina said as Baghra looked surprised. "You knew this was a committment but I understand where you're coming from." Baghra said as she had authority now with her father's untimely passing. "Very well, I'll approve your request under one condition." Baghra said as Catalina looked at her suspicous. "What would that be?" She asked
Baghra knew how powerful Shadow and Sun worked together, it was why she'd made sure Catalina had made it this far. "Your next descendant that is Sun Summoner, I want them to marry my son if I have one." Baghra said as Catalina was suspicous "And if you would have twins?" Catalina asked as Baghra looked at her "Then I suppose they would have to share." Baghra said bluntly to her. Catalina didn't think any of the females in her family would be Sun Summoner after her so she shook on it. "You have a deal." Catalina said as Baghra shook her hand. "You have the protection of the Mafia in your retirement, if anyone tries to bother your family they'll handle it before you can even call." Baghra promised and then the two friends went their separate ways.
-many years later-
When Amira was born, Catalina knew the moment she held her that the girl would have Sun but also tidemaker so she tried to hide it from the Mafia that her granddaughter would be the next female Sun Summoner. She gave her son his daughter back as she knew now that her promised took her granddaughter's future away.
Time passed and before most could say it Amira Silina was twenty-five years old. She was a day college student and working at a bar at night part time to make ends meet. Her grandmother would always offer her money but she refused saying she wanted to prove she could do it herself but always noticing that her grandmother kept a concerned face still she was an adult like most. Her co workers also worked part time but were also her college collegues as she smiled when she'd came in that night for work.
"Amira, on time as always and wearing your necklace tonight." Marie pointed out as Amira nods. "I love wearing it, it's a reminder of what I am." Amira said as she saw Marie and Nadia shared her enthusiasm for being Grisha wearing their own unique necklaces. "Let's get tonight over with. Hopefully nothing overly exciting will happen tonight." Amira said as she got herself ready for the customers about to come in.
When they were open and things were going on, the girls kept busy and did as they were told. It was a usual night for them until they walked in. The Morozova brothers, everyone in the area knew them because their mother Baghra Morozova was the Godmother of the area so they got about whatever they wanted. "Aleks, what ya want to drink?" Billy asked, he was the younger of the two but when Aleksander didn't answer, Billy looked at him. "Aleks?" Billy asked
Aleksander had felt it the moment he'd entered the place, the sun that made his shadows stir. He scanned the room ignoring his twin brother as he looked for awhile before he landed on the three bartenders. He noticed each was wearing a necklace, he figured they were Grisha as he recognized the one for Inferni and Tidemaker. It was when the last girl turned around did he see her strange necklace, it was the Sun but it had a blue gem in the middle. When he finally turned in his brother as he looked at him "Kvas, you know that." Aleksander said watching the girl work
Amira had almost let a glass slip but Marie had caught it, her inner sun reacted to shadows as she shivered a little. She'd never felt such dark but she didn't recall feeling anything off of other Grisha. "What is this feeling?" Amira said softly as she returned to work. Amira was up there taking orders when Billy walked up "Hey, you got a nice necklace there very unique necklace. Can I get a glass of burbon and a glass of kvas." Billy said
Amira realized he was looking at her when he was talking and she knew she couldn't ignore him with his family's reputation. "Sure, coming right up." Amira said as she went to get the drinks ready. She prepared the glasses and handed them over to him "Here you go." Amira said as he took them and smiled before he walked away. Marie walked over "Write it down on the Mafia list." Marie whispered
Aleksander was sitting in the booth they always sat at as Billy put his Kvas infront of him and drank his burbon. "You're on edge, what's with you?" Billy asked as Aleksander looked back to the bartenders looking at Amira as she smiled and did her job. He noticed the way she wore her clothes, she was covered up meaning innocent. "You remember what mother said about The sun getting out because of family?" Aleksander asked Billy as he looked at him. "You mean that deal Ma talks about? The next desendant of the Sun to be our girl?" Billy asked as Aleksander looked at him. "I think you just met her." Aleksander said as he picked up the glass of Kvas and drank it. Billy looked towards the bartenders as he smirked a bit "Well, this will be interesting if you're right." Billy said
While the brothers talked, Amira had no idea about any of it since her grandmother had decided not to say a word. Amira ended up working late hours so when it was the end of their shift and they were finishing out for the night. The owner gave them their tips but then made Amira come over. "Yeah, boss?" Amira asked as he handed her an envelope. "The Morozova brothers just left a few minutes ago they said to hand you this for how well you did tonight." The boss said as Amira took it and opened the envelope seeing the cash inside as she almost was shocked. "Oh, uh wow." Amira said "Thanks boss."
After that Amira left with Marie and Nadia, the three were not just college mates and co workers they lived together as roommates. "So what was in the envelope?" Marie asked as Amira had put it all away. "More than I deserved right now." Amira said to them. As the three talked and laughed a bit but they'd been working the last four days so tomorrow was their day off and the other workers were going to be going in.
