A/N: This will be a collection of Maggie and OA centric one-shots. They will be related to specific episodes, but won't necessarily be in order, or related to each other. Most will be friendship pieces, others will be more romantic, but for the most part you can read them whichever way you like. The rating is T for now, but I will warn you if there are any M scenes. Thanks and please review!
Title: Breathe Again
Episode: 1x22 'Closure'
Hearing the doorbell, Maggie made her way through the apartment, tying her hair in it's usual ponytail. After a quick peek out, she opened the door to reveal her partner, standing there with two large cups of coffee. "Good morning."
"Morning, Mags." He handed her one of the cups as she ushered him inside.
"Thank you." She immediately took a sip of the hot liquid, and let out a content sigh. Her and OA took a seat on the couch to drink their coffee before they went for a run. The pair had to be at work in two hours, but they decided to do this after their meal last night.
It had been a great dinner, the partners going to a steakhouse in the city, and Maggie enjoyed the time with her best friend.
Maggie and OA smiled at each other as the elevator doors closed in front of them.
OA turned to his partner. "So, where did you want to go?"
The brunette thought for a moment. "Let's try the new steakhouse on 54th."
"Sounds good. If you want, you can just leave your car here. We can take my truck, and I'll pick you up for work in the morning." OA suggested as they exited the elevator.
"Okay." Maggie followed OA to his truck, and slid in the passenger seat. She was feeling a lot better than she had in a long time. It was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, because she finally knew what happened to Jason… and though it wouldn't be easy, she could heal.
Looking over at OA, Maggie's thoughts shifted to him. He had been amazing throughout all of this. She knew without a shadow of a doubt, he would always be there for her, and she couldn't be more grateful.
Maggie must have been lost in thought for a while, because she was suddenly brought back by OA calling her name, trying to get her attention.
"Maggie? You okay?" Concern radiated from his features.
The agent smiled. "Yeah, I'm good… really good."
They went to the steakhouse, and the food was delicious. Maggie noticed OA glancing at her every now and then, obviously assessing how she was coping with things. Normally that would irritate her, somebody thinking she needed checking up on, but that wasn't the case with OA. She was just lucky to have a partner so caring. Meeting his eyes, she smiled warmly. "Thank you, OA… and I don't just mean for dinner. I mean, for everything. I don't know what I would have done without you."
"Mags, I want to be here for you.. And I will be, because you're important to me. You don't ever have to thank me." OA's eyes shone with sincerity and love.
Maggie reached across the table and briefly squeezed OA's hand, while smiling gratefully.
After they finished eating, OA payed and then they made their way back to his truck. "So," OA began as he pulled out of the parking lot. "..why don't I bring coffee when I pick you up in the morning, and we can go for a run before work?"
"Yeah, that sounds great."
OA dropped Maggie off at her apartment, walking her to the door and hugging her before bidding her a good night.
So, here they were now, OA finishing his coffee, while Maggie tied her shoe laces. As they stood up, and got ready to head out the door, Maggie grinned. "You ready to get your ass kicked?"
OA busted out laughing. "Right, bring it on, Agent Bell."
Starting their run down the sidewalk, Maggie felt more at ease than she ever had. She felt like she had the chance at a fresh start, and she was looking forward to it with her best friend by her side.
