For me it was never enough, the small southern town I grew up in. I craved so much more that it couldn't offer. After high school my best friend Kate got out of here and moved to California with her Aunt and cousin to help out with their mechanic shop. Kate's cousin Jax was "a wild one" in her words and her Aunt needed all the help she could get with the business, Kate had taken business classes in high school so she was beyond qualified. That was 7 years ago.
We stayed in touch often; she came back a couple times to visit family and me. Other than that we talked at least once a week, but we haven't spoke in a couple months now, just from life catching up with the both of us.
: Phone Ringing:
" Kate, please answer." I silently said to myself.
"Hey, Baby doll I'm so glad you called! I was hoping we could find the time to talk!" She said with excitement in her voice.
"
"Me too babe, I've missed you! So, What's been happening on your side of the country?" I asked as I sat outside of the gas station smoking a cigarette.
"Well, Abel was born!" "Stupid junky bitch od'd and had him early." She said and I could hear the hatred in her voice. "So I've been staying with Jax to help him and Gemma out. Also Doctor bitch is back." She said and I could see the eye roll she did as she said it. I couldn't hold back the little chuckle that escaped my mouth.
"How is the baby doing?" I asked out of concern.
"Better than they thought he would, already had two surgeries and had to spend about a month in the toaster. He's home now and doing a lot better though." She said. You could hear the happiness and relief in her voice when she said that he was doing better.
"That's great to hear babe. I'm so happy to hear that. I'm sure with you taking care of him he will be stronger than ever soon. That and those Teller genes of ya'lls." I told her throwing my cigarette down and stomping on it.
"How's things been with you babe?" She asked me and I froze. Did I really want to tell her that my shitty so called roommate sold the house and now I had no place to go because along with that my dad disowned me, because I was a disgrace with my tattoos and piercings and my bartending job at the local strip joint. In his eyes I was gonna end up just like them, 'just getting naked for a dollar'. (In my option they was some of the smartest realist women I'd ever met) Even though I had a full time job at the salon during the day and bartended at night for extra cash. I could never compare to his new stepdaughter, 'the lawyer'.
"Honestly, not good." I said bluntly.
"What's wrong, and don't lie to me Kathryn!"
"Everything." I said and I explained what all had been happening the last 3 or so months.
"Rynn I'm so sorry this is all pouring down on you at once. I wish you would have called and let me know sooner!"
"Kate, you had enough on your plate. I'm a big girl I'll figure it out." I told her pulling into the motel I'd been staying at.
"I know you are but let me help you! We have tons of spare rooms at the clubhouse come out here and stay for a while get away from everything and enjoy yourself for a while."
"Whens the last time you actually had fun and relaxed and let loose?" She asked.
"Are you sure? Kate, I really don't want to cause any problems with the guys or the club I know how it works, I'm a outsider." I told her walking into my room and really noticing how outdated and old everything was.
"Bullshit! You're my family and I know you understand how this all works, shit you've dated more felons than I know and that's saying something." She said laughing.
"Plus I could use some extra help and comfort taking care of Abel."
"Okay, Okay as long as you think it will be alright with them." I told her packing up what clothes and things I had out.
"Okay, I just pinged your phone and it says you're like 4 hours from me. But I think we may need a new intelligence officer because there is no way you're that close!" Kate said laughing.
"Wellll…maybe not. I didn't know where to go or what else to do so I just started driving and headed towards the only person I consider family. You." I told her lowly.
"Rynn you sly bitch you, you was gonna pop up on me aye?" Kate said laughing.
"Ya caught me!" I said laughing putting my bags in the car.
"As soon as I check out I'll head your way. Send me the address"
"Done. I can't wait to see you Rynn I've missed you so much. This will be good for both of us!"
"Also I'll be at the garage so I sent that address but the clubhouse is right here so, oh and I hope you don't mind living with a bunch of sweaty testosterone filled men cause they're everywhere here."
"Are they hot men?" I asked slyly.
"Rynn you horny slut. Hang up and get your ass here!" Kate said laughing and hanging up the phone.
