The rain is falling heavily, so much so that they can barely feel the tears on their face. Looking up, they can see their friend, the one who had accepted them and called them human, his crimson eyes flowing with their own tears.

He speaks, voice hoarse, "Do you regret it? Taking a place by my side?"

They can barely muster the strength to respond, "No, my friend, I only regret how lonely you shall be without me."

As the words leave them, they see his face shift in surprise, mouth moving while making no sound. They can feel it now, their strength is fading. They give a small smile, remembering their friendship up until now, and hope that their friend will be able to guide his people wisely. The last of their strength fades, and their body returns to that which it was made from, simple clay.

(Present Day)

They awaken suddenly, as if from a nightmare. Looking around they see a room that for a moment seems unfamiliar, but soon enough the memories return. This is their room and their name is Izuku Midoriya. But… that can't be right. Wandering out of the bedroom, they find the bathroom and take a look into the mirror. Well, they would, but they're too short to see it properly. Supposedly, they're only four years of age.

Wandering to the kitchen, they grab a chair to stand on and observe theirself in the mirror. They're somewhat pale, with freckles dotting their face, messy dark green hair, and large emerald eyes. They look down at their hands and begin prodding at their arms. This is… flesh. True flesh, not clay. That's… they aren't sure how to feel about this development.

This body is a normal human's, not a tool's, but… Their memories from this body flash before them. This is a spectacular world where people can casually replicate feats of magic, nearly all of the population holding a power known as a Quirk. Can they…?

Concentrating, they focus on what they want to happen. It's a simple change really, just lightening their hair to a different shade. Looking in the mirror, they watch as their individual strands of hair lighten into something more in line with their old hair color.

The fact that their shape-changing abilities still work in a human body is quite interesting, but there's one more ability to test. Reaching into their soul, they call upon the power for which they were originally given form and purpose.

Materializing before them is a single chain, a spear head linked to the end. Good, they still seem to have their full range of capabilities.

Hearing footsteps, they turn to see a woman with dark green hair walk into view. She stares at the chain before them, mystified for a moment before rushing forward and enveloping them in a hug.

She squeals happily, "Oh, Izuku! Is this your Quirk? It looks so cool!"

More memories. This is the mother of their human body, and she's happy because supposedly their Quirk is late in manifesting.

She sets them down, "I was wondering what you were doing up so early, but this is amazing! Oh, I bet you can't wait to tell Katsuki!"

Another wave of memories. Katsuki Bakugou, this body's best friend. Pale skin, blonde hair, red eyes, loud, and arrogant. He's… he seems so similar.

Taking a breath, they nod, smiling as they remember their body would, "Of course, mother."

Their mother, Inko Midoriya, gives a confused look. Ah, using the word mother wasn't the right choice. Suddenly, she takes a closer look at them.

She gains a worried look, "Umm, Izuku? What happened to your hair?"

They run a hand through it, "It's my… Quirk." They aren't used to that word, "It lets me change the shape of my body, that's where the chain comes from."

Speaking of the chain, it's about time they dismissed it. With a simple flick of the wrist it vanishes.

Inko smiles, "Oh, you already figured out that much about it? You're so smart Izuku! Now then, I think it's about time we get you ready for school."

Arriving at school, they go through the motions their body remembers, taking notes and absorbing knowledge. When the students are let out for a recess, they finally take notice of him. Katsuki Bakugou, he's only a few yards away and he's… oh that won't do. He's menacing another student, something about Quirks.

It would seem this child must be reigned in, and who better to do so than a chain forged to reel in the most arrogant man alive?

Before any attacks can be made, a pair of chains fly out, ensnaring Katsuki and pulling him over to 'Izuku'.

They look Katsuki dead in the eyes with a small smile, "Kacchan, you should be nicer to others. Heroes only fight evildoers."

And thus began the difficult process of taking the walking ball of arrogance that is Katsuki Bakugou, and molding him into a proper Hero.
