Chorus: a planet rich with alien technology, buildings and so forth. Home to the several temples housing different artifacts, serving different purposes. One of which was The Temple Which Housed Another World. And it just so happened that this day, it would open in a time a crisis.
[Outside the Temple Which Housed Another World]
Two of Charon's mercs under the order of Felix and Locus were tasked with guarding this very temple with their lives. It didn't serve any purpose, but it did have an unstable amount of energy. While the energy couldn't be weaponized it was still troublesome if it was set off. Seeing as that the power surge would be picked up from every known part of the galaxy. At least from what the scientist that were there could deduce.
So naturally the only thing to do was have the mercs you could spare hold up outside of it. That way it bought you time to stop anyone who tried to activate it. At least from this side.
"Hey." The former prisoner now merc turned to the space pirate mercenary guarding with him.
"Yeah."
"Ya ever wonder why we're here?"
"Shut up."
"Fine... what was that?" The mercenaries turned to the sound of the ancient alien structure when out of the thin air a translucent structure started to appear. What looked to be columns of an old ancient civilization, began to materialize before their very eyes.
Getting uneasy at the sight of the temple powering up, one of the mercenaries activated his communication device to speak to a higher up. Getting through to one of the higher ranking officers they spoke clearly, "Sir, we have a problem. The temples doing some shit."
As he spoke, a line of soldiers clad in Roman Era style armor appeared marching through. After them another row showed up behind them, another row, followed by another and another row. Soon accompanied by a man in a different colored armor set riding an armored horse. The man in charge.
"Sir, we may have a problem." The mercenary spoke to Felix after being patched through to him.
Felix already irritated after losing the sword had no patience for the scenario, "Ohh well, why don't you take those guns we gave you. Use them and handle it. You stupid fuck!"
"With pleasure..." The Merc grinned with his pal as the took aim only to be impaled by a large spear in the gut. Keeling back and bleeding out before he could fire a shot.
The other mercenary started firing sporadically at the forces only to be rushed by several shielded troops. The collective force overwhelmed the poor man in seconds, within moments he was stabbed and beaten as his armor broke. By now only eight remained of the mercenaries, but not nearly enough to hold off what remained. The forces lost several men but that wasn't a fraction of the force they brought with them. The eight mercenaries waited around the rocky corner for more of those soldiers to march towards them. Only to seem creatures they thought existed in nightmares. Standing tall and slumped over was a few ogres and orcs that looked as though they came from fantasy stories.
One of the men screamed as he started firing and running away, soon the rest followed suit. One was crushed by the beast's massive hammer, while two more were ran down by several greater weapons, such as great swords and axes that cut up the two.
Only the machine gun on the back of the jeep held them off and took out the massive creatures. Soon more were coming as they knew it wouldn't be long until they were overwhelmed. Driving away, the armoured jeep with the turret left first while the last two tried to escape on a mongoose. The man in the back had barely gotten on before a massive flying lizard swooped down and lifted him up in it's mouth. The driver got away but the last man was spit out as he was chewed up in front of one of the commanding forces.
Getting a look at the commanding officer he saw something that made his mind race and his heart stop. In his right hand was a two pronged energy blade, similar to the one that they had seen before from the Reds and Blues. The one called Tucker. The mercenary's eyes rolled back as he fell dead after the sharp teeth punctured many vital organs.
The figure of Santa had appeared before the "key wielder" and looked him. Speaking in his original language, this time having his language spoken back. The conversation was incomprehensible but whatever was said showed a map, leading from the current map to the nearest city. The city of Armonia. Reaching onto the nearest alien technology console the leader pulled out a small disk object as Santa, the alien A.I. transferred to into it.
[Armonia, The Capital City]
As the Gate was opened every radar, screen and helmet feed lit up as all citizens, soldiers and high ranking officers were overwhelmed by what their visors saw. The whole city was left stunned as they tried to comprehend what exactly happened. Even their best and brightest had very little clue as to what was going on at that exact moment.
The conversations went as such, "The f*ck was that?" Tucker questioned.
"You felt that too, I was hoping it was just me." Replied Sarge.
Dr. Emily Grey was having a field day as she recognized some of the symbols and sounds that passed through her senses. Excited she spoke gibberish as she started writing on the board for the translation. Completely ignoring the fact she had the patient Doc, almost rigged for electro shock therapy. Her drooling at the board she scribbled on made everyone in the room feel more uneasy than when she had her tools equipped.
The true emergency was coming with Carolina as she communicated with everyone during the process, "Guys, Church is acting up. Get over here, now!"
As they arrived they saw Carolina remove her helmet while the small holographic form of their friend was glitching on the floor. His form shifting colors and kneeling with his hands on his head as he was collapsing. Unsure if he was failing or if it was due to the fact that he was just an old memory fragment, but he wasn't responding.
On Church's end it seemed as if he saw glimpses into a dream or a fantasy world he never saw before. Visions of a blue haired magical girl, a blonde elf in a forest and gothic lolita with a giant halberd. Whatever it was passed as everyone had the same thought.
"Church... you good bud?" Tucker hoped his friend would be okay.
Church shook it off but had a few answers, "Yeah that felt... different. Did anyone get that reading?"
"From what we're hearing the whole city did. Kimball and Doyle are gonna want answers." Simmons responded.
"I'm lost just as them... the only person I think would have a clue would be that alien A.I. Caboose found."
"Santa." Caboose stated as if it were fact.
"I will NEVER call him that."
"Can you give them something?" Carolina asked.
Church didn't know how to phrase his experience but he knew he had to say what happened, especially... "Carolina... that felt real. Like I was there."
"What?"
[Aboard The Ship Malcolm Hargrove Flies]
The arrogant businessman happily drank his coffee after finishing up another successful deal. Now knowing that his mercenaries are now properly motivated with their reward if they succeed and punishment if they fail on the table he had no worry. That was until his victorious moment was halted by one of his personal scientists coming into the room.
"Sir, we have picked up something from Chorus that you should know about." The scientist spoke with a worried expression.
Malcolm smiled as he thought this was old news he could dismiss, "What's seems to be the matter."
"From what we can tell there was a massive energy surge coming from the planet. It was almost as if it was a collapsing neutron star inside of an Einstein rosen bridge."
"Unusual technological occurrences is what Chorus is known for. Why is this different?"
"Sir... we picked this up on all our scans. Every scanner. Including one's we didn't even have on."
Malcolm grew more concerned about the sound of this, "What? How far could this reach?"
"Given our current location and the fact we picked it up... I think it hit every single radar on this side of the galaxy."
"Dear God... set a course for Chorus. If we're fast enough we can wrap this up before the UNSC figure out what's happening... No loose ends."
[The Armonia Attack: Hours After The Breach]
Felix and Locus hovered far above the city while their troops flooded into the city from the sky. Dropping in, forcing the General's to think of a new attack plan, by blowing up the city itself taking out the enemy forces with it. Meanwhile Carolina and Shark Face are having their showdown. What they don't know will change the fate of everyone.
On the edge of the the cliff outside the borders of Armonia an entire enemy force numbering almost 70,000 strong marched over the hill. The confusion was picked up by Felix and Locus as they strategized on what to do next. Considering most of his forces were busy infiltrating the city. He only came with half his full numbers so their next plan had to be smart.
Unfortunately one mercenary is arrogant while the other was conflicted, their choice wasn't made on good terms. Felix spoke into his microphone, "Half of you keep out those... whatever you want to call them... the other focus on putting a bullet in the middle of Doyle's visor."
The order went as said, half the invading force was divided while the other half searched the city for the General. While their forces tried to attack the garage where Doyle was held up in, his other half created a barrier along the outskirts of the city in a firing line. Prepared to prevent anyone from getting in, or so they thought. When the enemy revealed their full force just above the hill, there was no stopping a force of that scale.
Pouring down the hill they came in a massive charge, troops, demi-humans and so forth all came flooding down bearing ancient weaponry. As the bullets cut, trimmed and pierced several of the invaders it was still unable to match the full force. For every hundred or so that fell a thousand more poured over the fallen. Eventually the invaders had lost only a couple thousand as they reached the shooters.
It took the force no time at all to overwhelm the mercenaries when they had reached them. The black armoured soldiers were sliced up, beaten or impaled by the weapons from so long ago.
The force was at the gate to the city when another flying space behemoth, bigger than any beast that was from the ancient attacker's homeworld. The masses huddled by the wall shielding their one true leader from the whatever was to come.
Above the ground, a conversation between the two leaders of the sky fortresses occurred, "Well Chairman, this is a surprise for sure. I was wondering what the occasion could be. Hear to actually fucking help and get your hands dirty."
"Getting my hands dirty... yes. As well as help myself. Fire on their ship." Several missiles came out of the Chairman's ship and blasted onto the surface of the prison ship.
The ship rocked with the passengers bracing themselves as they were trying to register what had happened. Felix cursed at his former employer, "Hargrove what the hell are you doing?"
"My sources tell that a massive energy spike came from Chorus."
"We know. We felt it and were going to report it to you but it didn't seem important."
"How wrong you are. You see I've also received words with some of my allies in the UNSC that they had picked up the exact same energy reading coming from the same bloody place."
"You have connections, can't you tell them to f*ck off?"
"It's out of my hands, so I'm just going to speed everything along and make sure that I can at least claim that this planet died fighting each other off. As well as write off our contract. I'm sorry, but the mission is over, you have failed me for the last time."
"Over?" Locus questioned the word over to himself as he tried to comprehend what was happening.
Felix threatened the man on the screen, "Once I'm done getting my sword, I'm coming for you, you prick. Come on Locus."
As Locus turned around and went to follow Felix, who was already out the door he was stopped by former Counselor Price, "Do you still wish to know what Felix is afraid of?"
"What... what does he fear?"
"You both suffer from the past of old wars, but one of you was broken the most. It was his job to see that you never healed and continue to let you believe you were the same soldier as before. Because despite what he may claim, only one of you needs the other to survive."
"What are you saying?"
"Your friend is afraid of you."
"Locus! Come on!" Felix shouted as his partner came around the corner, "What's the hold up?"
"Nothing... let's just get the job done." Locus tried to shake that idea out of his head, but now the question kept lingering. Was he right? Was his friend, the he allied himself with for so long afraid of him.
Back In Armonia
The sight of Malcolm Hargrove and his ship left everyone in state of fear, as Kimball, Doyle, The Freelancers, The Reds and The Blues we're the only ones left in the city. The walls outside would fail soon, the battle in sky wasn't inspiring hope, their original plan to blow up the city had currently gone up in smokes. This wasn't the worst case scenario, this was an apocalypse.
It was during this chaos that one particular blue had a moment of clarity, changing the next course of action for everyone. His few words were, "Why is the evil mean guy here?"
"Who cares, let's just GTFO ASAP, OK?" Simmons replied as entered back in the room to get everyone.
Tucker then took his words into consideration, "No... Caboose is right? He wouldn't show up and attack his own men unless it was an emergency or something."
"Pretty sure you messed up the alphabet Simmons." Caboose pointed out.
Doyle then lifted his head up from cover, "If he's here trying to finish either he's impatient or he's trying to clean us up before help comes."
"But if help is coming couldn't he just, bring down the ships with that gravity thingamabob?" Sarge quizzed.
Tucker thought hard for a moment, "Unless the force is too great that it would overwhelm them. Guys, I think the UNSC is on it's way."
"How? We never sent that distress signal." Doyle remembered.
Sarge stopped shooting at the mercenaries to turn back to his allies, "What about that freak energy spike we couldn't explain? Could that have gotten their attention?"
"It's possible, but I think I have a better idea now. If we pick up Carolina, Wash and Kimball. Could we hold out here?" Tucker suggested.
Doyle spoke up against, "No, we should do what Kimball suggested and take control of their gravity weapon. That way they can't bring down anymore ships. By now their forces are spread thin enough to where myself, Kimball and a small team of the Freelancer's choice should be able to take it."
"We have another problem, Locus and Felix are in the city and those other Roman looking people are breaking through the wall." Simmons added as he looked on the computer.
Tucker ignited his sword, "Oh I can handle Felix."
"Agent Washington, how is the LZ situation?" Doyle spoke into his comms.
"Almost there, we'll have to clear it but it should be good." Washington answered as he switched over to Carolina, "Carolina? What's your situation."
"I'll be there soon, what's the plan?" Carolina knocked Sharkbait back long enough to talk.
Doyle gained his courage to talk like Kimball, "We are taking the fight to them. Vanessa, you want to take control of the gravity station?"
"About time you see things my way." Kimball smiled under helmet as the two neared their target.
Sarge shot down another mercenary with the heavy machine gun he wielded, "Sounds like we got a plan."
"Uhhh, we may have another problem..." Simmons finished looking at the monitor as Lopez and Grif joined them.
He turned the screen around and pointed at one of the soldiers dressed differently, in the hand of the invader was a glowing key, just like Tucker's. It looked as though that Felix and Locus would bump into them soon enough.
"F*ck me." Tucker uttered.
Locus and Felix
As the two marched through the city for the one in control of the sword, they gathered what forces they could in to stand a better chance. The missiles between the two ship continued, as counter measures swatted them down. The Chairman dropped down three Mantises outside currently destroying a good portion of those attackers with their explosives and terrifying gattling gun.
They spotted the airship above and attempted to shoot it down with their rifles as they saw that it was heading off to it's LZ. It was close, if they ran they could catch it and hopefully take out the Freelancer's and the rest of them.
Running through the familiar halls with Felix following, Locus wondered if what the counselor said was true. If he was living a lie and told himself he was a soldier just to cover up the idea he might actually be a killer. Was his ally using him for his own survival? Could he live without Felix in his life? So many questions pacing in his brain.
There, rounding a corner the mercenaries saw the ship, the Freelancers boarding and the leaders in sight. While the rest took aim and fired, missing by inches allowing Washington and Kimball to get Carolina to Doyle so they could return fire. Two mercs fell to the floor as they were struck dead, giving Felix and Locus a chance to get to cover. Felix fired as best as he could, but wasn't attempting to hit anyone, just provide suppressing fire for his sharpshooter pal. Locus aimed in, but his mind was uncertain as he zoomed in on Wash: their last encounter mixed with the information on Felix made him unsteady.
"Locus, f*cking shoot damnit." Felix growled.
Locus snarled back to his partner, "Shut up... just stop talking."
"Locus!"
"Just stop!"
"LOCUS!" Felix moved his companion as his scope shifted to Kimball his finger had slipped but before the bullet hit someone was brave enough to move in front of the gun at the last second.
Doyle stood there for a moment, having pushed Vanessa to the side while taking the bullet that was accidentally meant for her. He slumped and stumbled into the wall of the Pelican behind him and sat on the floor. The Freelancers saw this and managed to get their act together and work in sync. Firing for cover and with fury Carolina aimed for the two specialist mercs to finish this. Just grazing Felix and missing Locus she bought enough time for Wash to take off and move to pick up the Reds and Blues.
Inside the Pelican Vanessa clutched Doyle's hand and wound, keeping him alive and focused as best she could. Cursing him out, "Damnit Doyle, what were you thinking?"
"I... I... thought I... did... something... courageous..." Doyle forced out as the wound in his abdomen continued leaking blood.
Kimball's thoughts rushed to everything, "What are we supposed to do now?"
"Lead them... they need a... leader..." Doyle tried to speak clearly.
Kimball calmed him down, as she rocked back and forth holding his wound, "How?"
"You'll... figure something... you're a true... leader." Doyle smiled under his helmet as he continued to breathe.
Kimball gave him one order as they stopped over by the Reds and Blues in the garage, "Hang on damnit! You're not done!"
As they landed Tucker approached while the others held off the mercenaries and the ancient attacker at the door.
"What are you doing here?" Tucker questioned.
"We're getting you out of here, get everyone on board." Carolina ordered.
"Not yet. The game just changed."
"What are you talking about Tucker? Hargrove and the mercs are literally at each other's throats what could have changed the game?" The AI Epsilon asked.
"They have another key!" Tucker shouted.
"What?"
"What?" Felix asked seeing his sword wasn't working yet and hearing from one of his men about another one.
The mercenary in question had told them that they saw one of those Roman looking soldiers equipped with a working energy blade just like Tucker's and the one in Felix's hand, "Yeah... it looked the same, glowed and everything."
"And that primitive screw head has it still because..."
"He was surrounded by an army protecting him. Hargrove and his forces took down roughly 40,000 troops before. From what we have gathered we killed. another 10,000 or so in and out the city. All he has left is about 16,000. There are in the city and some are keeping the Reds and Blues occupied so now is the perfect opportunity to go and get it."
"Two swords... I like that idea." Felix smirked under his helmet.
Locus shook his head as he couldn't comprehend anything anymore, "The job... is over. We failed."
"Locus, stick to the shadows and take care of the Reds and Blues."
"The mission... it's ove-"
"For f*cks sake can you forget about the mission! Can you for once not think about following god damn orders. I'm not doing this for money, I'm not doing this for the mission, I'm doing this for me." With that Felix strolled out as he and his group left Locus to do his part.
[The Imperial Army's appointed leader]
As the men entered into the city after conquering those strangely armed bandits and those towering golems that blasted fire and spit metal they now faced a new challenge. The streets weren't that huge so they would have to split up into three groups: one to the right, one to the left and the other to the front led their commanding officer. When they split up each group had a little over 5,000 along with a few demi-humans.
Their commander stared up at the futuristic buildings in the city, despite their new surroundings it was good to see something somewhat familiar. Rather than stone and and wood, these were made from concrete and metal. Despite the different structures something about the fact that there was a society was refreshing to the leader.
"Their buildings reached higher than most, maybe all the buildings back home. It makes me feel somewhat comfortable that we have something in common with our foe. Even if we look completely different." Their commander, Lord Roland, older cousin to the Princess of Italica.
One of his second in commands was confused about his speakings, "My Liege?"
"Even though we are in a foreign land and we have lost several men to those armored people and their iron golems, it still feels just like home." He smiled as they marched forward, thinking of the similarities.
As his men came across the ten mercenaries and what was one with orange details and a different helmet from the rest. Felix had his rifle in his hand while he had a knife in his other. The roman dressed soldiers rushed forward to claim another kill on their belt. They were gunned down and blown up by the grenades they knew very little about. Automatic weapons versus the first nine hundred or so proved to be pointless as they dropped like flies against the first magazines filled with high powered round. The attack didn't seize until another wave of a few hundred that tried the same was shot down by an unseen force, as if spirits had taken them.
The attacks stopped and the leader stepped forward, Lord Roland ignited the only key sword there was. In his language he taunted the one with orange highlights, "(Hah, behold men, a coward. He who hides behind the spirits and others to do his dirty work. Face me.)" He beat his chest.
Felix smirked and ushered with two fingers to the others carry out his work, as five went forward with their guns aimed at Roland. About to fire to finish this quick, Roland stood proud and awaited the fate of the brave.
From the side a hail of bullets ripped up the first two, the three behind looked to the side to see what took out their allies. A large horseless carriage crashed into two more as a loud boom from another stick blasted the last one back. The whole event seemed to play in slow motion as the one adorned in red jumped off shouting something sounding like, "Life finds a way!"
The other five by Felix were stopped by another hail of bullets belonging to Lopez as he jumped out at the last second of a sliding jeep with a heavy machine gun in his arms. From one side far from Felix he dropped each and every one of them. Except Felix to make sure he'd receive his own personal beating from every single one of the Reds and Blues.
Tucker came in on the last jeep driven by Caboose as he parked right next to everyone else. The eight of them stood shoulder to shoulder facing Felix, all except Caboose who was looking behind them.
Tucker stepped forward and announced to Felix what was happening, "It's over Felix. Your boss is trying to gun you down, your forces are dwindling to the single digits, and we're being attacked by those medieval f*ck's. We kicked your *ss."
"Oh really...?" Felix laughed as he knew his men were taking position.
The image of Church, the artificial intelligence appeared on Tucker's shoulder, "Oh yeah about that. Caboose? Freckles? Aimbot."
"Affirmative." The gun spoke and lit up in several bursts as several invisibility cloaked soldiers fell to the floor behind Lord Roland. And Felix stood by himself again with no one aiding him.
Roland stared at his saviours in awe, as he thanked the colorful knights in silence keeping his men back with a hand as they could only watch the scene in front of him. Those heroes had enough bravery to stand and save those that would pillage and plunder their town. Perhaps this must have been a sign from one of the gods that these were true warriors that they must obey. Even if they were told to surrender by these people, only a true warrior would recognize the unfair slaughter that was to occur.
"The UNSC is on it's way? Aren't they?" Tucker asked.
Felix swiped at the air to deny his hope, "So what if they were? We can take down every one if their ships before they touch the ground."
"Unless you lost control of it." Church retorted.
"Oh really, why would that happen?"
"Because half your troops are either dead or here."
Back At Crash Site Alpha
Kimball and the Freelancers had just landed as she carried the tiring Doyle in her arms. As the landing doors opened she rushed out to find medics, or doctors, especially Doctor Grey. The scene of her running through the masses with the other General caught everyone's attention on both sides.
When she reached Grey she had fallen to her knees as several people from the Federal side grabbed a hold of him for her. Placing him just a few feet in front of her Doctor Grey began her examination running her device over him. The Lieutenants of the New Republic chosen by the Reds and Blues knelt next to her to pick her up.
She tried throwing them off her, not worried about her own health, "I got him here. He's been hit in the abdomen, you have to help him! Just save him."
Doctor Grey finished scanning, lowered her head, shaking as she couldn't bare to even say what was happening. The reality seeping into everyone as the two Feds next to her lowered their heads, one red and the other blue. The Freelancers getting furious as Wash punched the floor and Carolina through crates to the floor.
Kimball stayed on the floor as she stood back up, with a new reason for determination, "Doyle and me never saw eye to eye. We were at war for so long that I looked at him as if he was still the enemy. When you've been fighting one enemy for so long you demonize them, make them sub-human. Because if they were anything else, what does that make you?"
By now a crowd of both Fed and New Reps formed around the only leader left. Hearing her speech they could tell that she meant every single one of the words that had came from her mouth.
"What I'm trying to say... is I've been afraid to see you for what you really are. You're our brothers. Our sisters. And the things we've done to one another are unforgivable. But General Doyle was able to see past that. In the end, he understood that now isn't the time for pride or anger, now is the time for unity. Every day I ask myself, 'what do you fight for', and every day I answer, 'for a better tomorrow'. Well, if we can't set aside our past and start trusting one another, there won't be a tomorrow. So please, fight with me. Fight to see Malcom Hargrove locked away for the rest of his life! Fight to wipe that stupid grin off of Felix's face! Fight because you deserve TO FUCKING WIN!!!"
"Well shit, I'll fight for that." The Gunner Fed moved forward to speak that to her face. Joining her in arms as they all joined together in a new found spirit to form as one nation of people ready to fight for their planet. The roar of cheer gave them just what they needed as they all gathered what they had left to join the fight. They may be shorthanded but they had spirit and the numbers to retake the gravity control and the Comms station.
After all half of Felix's troops were probably dead and the other half was on their way to assist them. Leaving the Purge Tower open and the other one wide open, and Charon didn't fully know about the Purge Tower yet.
Back in Armonia
The sword on Felix's side finally lit up and the smile under his helmet was something awfully evil. The blade lighting up meant that Doyle was no more and that if Felix got away now it would mean that this would all be for nothing. So Tucker took a step forward as way to challenge him to one final match.
His advantage: his experience and Felix's cockiness, Felix's advantage his skills and Tucker's fury and rage. The battle for the future of Chorus was about to begin.
Tucker and Felix clashed swords as they met each other face to face, Felix immediately kicked him back before he could make another attack. Going for his pistol Simmons shot his gun out of his hand from the side.
"Let's keep it fair dirt bag." Sarge declared as they all backed up again.
Tucker stood back up again as he was joined by the leader of the invading force, Lord Roland. The commanding officer spoke to him but Tucker shook his head as he couldn't comprehend those foreign words. Roland assumed his position with his own key sword, this one was more refined. His feet were spread, free hand knuckled up and his sword at his side. Tucker followed his lead and felt more comfortable in this position, rather than his freestyle.
Felix watched as Tucker looked at the lesson he was getting from the relic of the past and realized that he was being ignored. His fury grew as Tucker and the other one took practice swings and punches with their weapons.
Felix Charged forward again as Tucker assumed his position and blocked the blade, juking to side so he can dodge the kick and land a punch. Tucker watched as the stumbled Felix was hurt and he actually landed a hit. Wide eyed he got a new confidence. Going again this time Felix went for another swipe, letting Tucker lean back and then following with a punch himself, that Tucker blocked with his arm. Tucker returned with a flying knee to the face added with another punch.
Tucker walked forward and followed the pattern, block the blade, dodge the blows then go for one yourself. He pushed Felix back against the wall, knocked the blade away, put his hand on his chest and blade against his throat, "It's over Felix."
"Hehehehehe, I don't think so." He chuckled as his partner would arrive from the shadows, only for the sound of the machine gun he handed him to hit the ground.
Tucker looked behind him, "Huh?
Locus decloaks between Tucker and Caboose.
"Oh sh*t!" Grif cried out
"Look out!" Donut warned him too late.
Sarge aimed his weapon, "Freeze!"
Locus simply glanced at Tucker before looking back at Felix.
Felix confused and furious at his partners actions, "Locus, what are you doing? You're supposed to kill them!"
"No." Locus declared.
Felix shocked by the answer asked the question everyone asked, "What?!"
Church was confused as he appeared again, "What?!"
Tucker lowered his sword confused, "What?!"
"No more killing." Locus demanded.
"What are you talking about? You're a soldier, remember?!" Felix reminded him.
"I'm not a soldier, I'm a monster... Like you."
Felix pushed Tucker off to walk to his partner, "Locus, we're... partners. Survivors. We need each other. Wh-what about our orders? Our reward?! Becoming the ultimate weapon."
"I'm not doing this for the reward. I'm not doing this because someone told me to. I'm doing this for me." Locus repeated Felix's words.
Felix looked around and sighed, before returning his words darkly, "Then you can die with the rest of them."
Felix takes out and activates his energy sword before flinging it at Locus. Locus ducks out of the way in time and cloaks back up. Felix kicks the SAW into the air and catches it. He fires at Sarge, Simmons, and Grif, who all run for cover.
"Hit the deck!" Grif yelled getting behind the jeep.
Doc, Donut, and Lopez aim their weapons, "Get 'im!"
Felix activated his hardlight shield as they open fire, the bullets all bounce off the shield and back towards them.
Donut ran away with Doc and Lopez behind the other tank, "Eek!"
Felix turns around to Locus to activate his hardlight shield again but a sticky bomb lands on it, "Huh...?"
"Time to kill the monster in my life." Locus said with a stern expression.
Tucker held a grenade in his while Felix had his back turned, "Hey, Felix. Catch." Tucker tossed the grenade, which rolled to Felix's feet as the sticky bomb primes.
"W-wait...!" The explosion from both detonations went off and blasted into a fiery mess before dispersing back to a black cloud.
"Holy sh*t!" Grif spoke up as stood up, "That was the coolest way he could have gone out."
"Did it work?" Donut questioned as they saw a light go off and they saw Locus holding the sword as it lit up.
"Yeah, I think it worked." Church added.
Locus looked at the sword and he realized he had some new stuff to do, some stuff to set right, so he turned to leave.
Tucker stopped him for a moment, "Hey, just 'cuz you saved us doesn't mean you can leave, asshole. You killed innocent people!"
"I know. I'm going to make things right. But not from inside a cell." Locus admitted.
Epsilon gave him one final warning, "If you run, we'll find you."
"No... you won't." Locus then cloaked up and disappeared.
Grif said the one thing on everyone's mind, "If I ever see another mercenary, it'll be too soon."
"Amen." Simmons agreed.
Sarge tapped Tucker's shoulder, "We still have one more problem to deal with."
Tucker turned to see Lord Roland walking forward and kneeling at the warrior's feet speaking in his tongue what could only be thanks. Tucker started shaking his hands, "Hey man, uhhh you don't have to do that just... damn I wish we had Andy again."
"Perhaps I may help." Santa, the Alien AI appeared from the ancient warrior's side, thanks to the device in his clothes and began to translate, "He is saying thanks for saving him from the dishonored one. He is now awaiting your orders."
"Orders? What does that mean?" Tucker questioned him.
Santa translated then waited for the answer, now turning back to Tucker, "He means if you wish to lead them, have them finish each other off or surrender. What is your choice?"
"Uhhh... I guess tell them to lay down their weapons." Tucker suggested. Once Santa had translated multiple swords had hit the ground as Lord Roland knelt as his feet waiting for the next order. Tucker used the opportunity to make a call to Wash, "So... uhhh yeah ummm first thing first... we kicked Felix's *ss, Locus is gone with the wind and we now have the entire medieval or Roman century group as our prisoners I guess."
"Oh, so good news all around, minus the Locus part." Wash pointed out, "We took control of the gravity station so the UNSC can land, Demolition team is rigging up the Purge Tower with enough explosives to tear it down, we are currently getting ready to take control of the Comms station and we lost Doyle."
"Yeah, figured when the sword worked for Felix. I mean, we still have Hargrove and that other ship shooting the sh*t out of each other but yeah everything should be finished up soon here. Any idea how long the UNSC should be here?" Tucker questioned until three ships entered the airspace to surround the battling prison ship and Hargrove, "Nevermind, guess we'll see justice done yet."
"So that's that? We won?" Church questioned.
"You okay?" Tucker asked.
Church tried to shake it off but held onto the feeling, "It's just that, there are so many stories where the hero gives his life to save the day. Because of them, they win, the survivors all cheer and everyone lives happily ever after. But the hero never gets to see that ending, they'll never know if their sacrifice worked."
"Ain't that a b*tch." Tucker finished as they remembered Doyle's sacrifice and went back to the city to welcome the UNSC and the several prisoners they now had.
Don't worry folks this is just the beginning of a new series I adopted because I always wanted to do this idea with Red vs Blue so many damn times. Also several questions for you all.
1. Should I just allow cursing to take place or not because I'm not sure if that T for Teen rating is worth it, there will be adult scenarios that may make me have to rebrand this as M or M. But should I bite the bullet and go T for Teen or go M and let the F bombs drop like Felix originally did.
2. Have I underestimated the power of guns in the hands of a few vs the masses of Legionaries, Wyverns and Beastmen? Or have I overestimated? Or both in this case?
3. Should I use this as a time to bring in some DND style characters. Either from my own mind or from everyone's favorite show, Critical Role with Matt Mercer, or Dungeon Master Supreme as I call him?
Okay so that's it for now. Have no fears, I'll be back with another tale of Blood Gulch and the Gate to Another World. Until then Churchisalive signing off for now.
