Once upon a time there was an author by the name of Ptabs0101 who wrote a fanfic called Remnant of a Rose. It was about Summer rose as a Guardian returning to Remnant through a vex gateway preventing the Vex from destroying remnant and meeting her Daughters Yang and ruby. And it was well received. Tehn he made the sequel, Remnant of an Iron Rose which took place during the SIVA Crisis. And it was good. Then tragedy struck and sadly, Ptabs0101 passed away. Leaving this fanfic without a home...incomplete. Then a group of Fanfic writers called Team DADA, which included myself, took up the reigns and continued where he left off and for a time it was good. Then a year later everything changed. Members went silent, moved to better things or just lost interest. But not me, I gave my fellow authors a message that if there was no new chapter by Halloween 2021, I will take full control of the series and contine. I've been patient for over a year, and there has been nothing. So without further adeu, here is the first Chapter of red war.
Previously on Remnant of a Iron Rose.
Summer rose returns to the Cosmodrome Plaguelands along with a fully trained Pyrrha and Barloc and Fredrick. They are then joined by three other Guardians by the names of Fontaine, Comstock-13 and Andrew-17who make up Fireteam Atlantic. They fight through the Devil splicers throughout the wall and even on top of the wall with ease thanks to Pyrrha's enhanced training with her semblance.
They make it into Aksis's inner sanctum and fight him where he reveals that he has gotten his hands on some Grimm via his dealings with Taniks the scarred, which Summer childishly swears that she killed. After Aksis finally dies with a combo of light and Pyrrha using up all her aura by ripping his machine parts out of his body then crushing against the walls the party breathe a sigh of relief.
Guardian Fontaine then uses his weapon to kill Fredrick point blank then has Comstock-13 crush his ghost in front of everyone making Fredricks death permanent. Andrew then dual wields two cheap looking thorn hand cannons at everyone. Fireteam Atlantic reveals that they are new initiates of the Shadows of Yor and were tasked to kill the Bane of Devils himself, Fredrick. Summer loses control and uses the darkness via the fragment of Oryx and kills them in a spectacular burst of Darkness incinerating them all along with their Ghosts. Pyrrha is then asked by both Barloc and Summer to keep this to herself for now, which she reluctantly agrees.
A few days later a funeral is held on Felwinters Peak where a pyre is burning containing the body of Fredrick which he is then post-humously as Iron Lord. Daisy is also in attendance where. Saladin then reveals that Fredrick was her father and her mother was Mara Sov. Shocked by this revelation, she leaves the funeral and leaves to find herself.
Back in the Grimmlands, Dredgen Tyranus has finished another lesson with Salem, who has become even more powerful to the point where Tyranus says she has gone from "Target Opportunity" to "Vanguard Strike Level Nightfall". Salem mentions that three of their Shadows of Yor have been killed and starts to question their power. Tyranus, instead of being angry, praises her for questioning them and reveals that their deaths were all part of the plan.
Iron Rose ends with a news announcement that the Vytal Festival is back on schedule and will be host in Vale as originally planned.
The next arc will be called Remnant of a Shadowed Rose.
It opens up with a fight between Team RWBY and ABRN during the Vytal Festival. Professors Port, Oobleck and Lord Shaxx are commentating the match and explain the new rules of the tournament.
The rules remain the same with a four-on-four match following a two on two and then a final one on one match. However new rules are added thanks to the contributions of the Guardians. When a team is selected not only will the terrain be randomly selected but a sort of "game type" as well. From collect the other teams' crests to earn additional prizes during the tournaments to capture zones to even Eliminate the Target match; which is always a Grimm. In this instance, it is Crests. Team RWBY wins the round and celebrate by going to the fairgrounds.
They partake in the fair food and comment on how everything has changed from the vendors to even the security. They view some of the guardian factions setting up tents to bring in new supports from Remnants population. With people from atlas going straight to Future War Cult, Faunus to Dead Orbit and people from Mistral to New Monarchy.
On the outskirts of Vale a gang of Mercenaries from a syndicate called the crown infiltrates the Atlas security and kill them, taking their place. They then communicate with Dredgen Tyranus and says phase one of the plan has been completed. They then continue to pose as the security team. Nearby, Dredgen Vena and Craneel comment that allying with the Crown was a good move and leave to begin phase 2.
The next following chapters are the same as Volume 3 where JNPR faces BRNZ while also doing a Capture Zones gameplay with Team SSN and Team NDGO participating in an Eliminate Target with the targe via a Desert Taijitsu; a Grimm King Cobra.
It then cuts to Ozpin and Ironwood in Ozpins office discussing the current events with Grimm attacks at historic lows and some form of stability in the Kingdoms, with some talk with making Menagerie a fifth kingdom.
At the end of the day Summer congratulates her daughter's team and asks to take them out to dinner along with Taiyang on the fairgrounds.
After having a family dinner with them Summer reveals her arm with hive glyphs. It has turned even greener along with growing a bit of chitin on it and explains what happed during the Siva Crisis. While Taiyang is concerned, he is supportive that she did what she though is best while Yang and ruby are upset. They end the night out on a sour note.
Outside the Kingdom of vale, the heads of the Crown, Jax and Gillian Asturias reminisce on how the Shadows of Yor approached them and joining Salem. They then do battle with some huntsman and using their enhanced Semblances of Mind control and Aura Siphon they managed to defeat them and control them. Later the next day they walk through the fair grounds of the festival and managed to control a good portion of the huntsman and huntsman in training in attendance and Jax using his Mind Control Semblance tell them to await their signal.
Timeskip to the final rounds where Yang fights against a student from atlas. Summer and her fireteam are watching from the stands. Just when the fight begins Taniks the Scarred transmats right into the middle of the arena and grabs the Atlas student by the head and crushes it right in front of everyone. The panic attracts a large horde of Grimm including Grimm/hive hybrids; the Misery and the Rage.
Summer and her fireteam are about to throw down with Taniks until Summer gets a message via her ghost with a picture of Dredgen vena with a tied-up Ruby to meet in the Academies auditorium. Cayde then steps up and says that he will handle Taniks while Lux and Prometheus-23 deal with the Grimm and Summer goes to save Ruby.
The students and huntsman fight against the horde of Grimm while also being affected by the Misery's cries throwing them into depression and the Rage's cries driving them into a berserker rage fighting friend and foe alike. Gillian and Jax then set off some fireworks which triggers their mind-controlled Huntsman and students.
Just as the huntsman and huntresses that aren't mind-controlled are about to be overrun an invisible figure knocks out both Jax and Gillian. The invisible figure decloaks revealing themselves as an Eliksni named Mithrax. He signals others that are invisible and they decloak revealing an assortment of Eliksni, human and Faunus who are part of his house called House Light. The mind-controlled are free and they destroy the Grimm.
Summer arrives at the auditorium and confronts Dedgen Vena and asked if she has a death wish/ why all of this?
Dredgen Vena removes her mask and reveals that she is summers old friend Guardian Diana, shocking Summer. Diana reveals that after she was banished from the Tower she wandered the Dead Zones and the Shadows of Yor found her and took her in. She gave herself willingly and even killed her Ghost in a sign of devotion. She then reveals that the Shadows plans have been about Summer the whole time!
Get her to unlock Thorns full potential and open herself to Darkness. Push her closer and closer to the edge until she embraces the Darkness. Allying with Salem and teaching her has only been a bonus, a means to an end. And to push her further, Diana shoot Ruby in the shoulder! Summer finally snapps and using the fragment of Oryx unleashes her Darkness self and fights Diana. They fight to a near stalemate.
Ruby regains consciousness from getting shot and sees the fight. Remembering the stone given to her by Xur of the Nine she crushes it in her hands and enters Summers Mind. After touring the place for a bit, watching memories and meeting the physical manifestation of Summer's Ghost Drei (which looks exactly like Peter Dinklege) rescue Summer from deep in her mind and encounter the fragment of Oryx in his glorious form. Mother and daughter fight together and fight him. He continuously shouts that without him, Summer would lose everything, that she can be greater than all other Guardians of Legend and protect those that she loves. Summer responds that she doesn't need Oryx but he needs her. It took her a long time to figure it out but Oryx died a long time ago the day she killed him.
What's left of him became a weapon buried somewhere, this small fragment is merely an echo of the real Oryx…a fragment that can't accept that he is dead and wishes to no longer be just a memory of a dead king. Making a scythe of light, both mother and daughter decapitates the fragment and he dies a final death!
In Summers mind it felt like hours, but in the real world, it was only a few seconds. Summer is purged of her Darkness and her Thorn is purified. Together with a recovering Ruby, they both defeat Diana. Summer then says that Diana died the day she decided to kill innocent Fallen, and this is merely a corpse that refuses to die, then shoots her dead.
While Summer and Diana fight Dredgen Craneel and Lux Syphoid and Ozpin fight to an even stalemate. Another Dredgen that Craneel identifies as Dredgen vale arrives and shoots Craneel in the legs, crippling him. Dredgen vale removes his helmet revealing himself as Shin Malphur. He then shoots Craneel in the head.
Shin tells Lux and Ozpin that he founded the Shadows of Yor to have all the Guardians obsessed with Dredgen Yors legacy in one location to keep an eye on them. He already eliminated all the Dredgen's on Remnant with the exception of Dredgen Tyranus and Dredgen Vene. Lux simply states that she will keep his secret on the condition they never meet again. Ozpin understands and keeps his secret as well.
Meanwhile cayde-6 and Taniks and his crew fight. After an intence battle, Cayde manages to decapitate Taniks and incinerates the Crew.
Dredgen Tyranus and Prometheus-23 fight to a stalemate where Penny joins in and rescues the captive Ghost on Tyranus's person. Prometheus-23 severely injures Tyranus and transmats back to Salem's castle. She approaches the injured Dredgen and impales him with several blades. She heard everything that Vena said that the Dredgen's have been using her all this time. Tyranus says that he was truthful that he wanted her powerful and says that if she kills him right now, she will become more powerful. She decapitates him and absorbs his essence and the entirety of the Grimmlands is surrounded in a hurricane of pure Darkness. Several guardians stationed near the coast try to breach it and their bodies and ghosts disintegrated on contact. Techis the Splicer Priest and what's left of Taniks Crew kneel before Salem and pledge their allegiance to her.
Several weeks have passed with the city of Vale once again under repairs. Huntsman and Guardians have arrested the last of the Crown members and sent them to trial. Nes reports that the Eliksni of House Light have been on Remnant for some time and they wish to be a part of the kingdoms, with Mistral more than happy to take them in. Summer says goodbye to Ruby and Yang and says that they will see each other soon. All of the students from all academies meet in the auditorium where Ozpin congratulates all for their acts of defending against Grimm, and asks for a moment of silence for those lost. Afterwards, he announces that in cooperation with the Guardians of Earth the SS Vytal. A large hybrid of Airship and Spaceship to travel to Earth. Several families around Remnant have signed up to start a new life in the Last City along with several businesses. He also announce that one team from each of the Academies will be selected and will spend the first month of their next year shadowing a Guardian and participating in their operations. The teams announced is Team NDGO, Team SSSN, Team FNKI and Team RWBY.
This chapter serves as a sort of cliff notes version of what would have happened at the end of Iron Rose and it's sequel Remnant of a Shadowed rose.
