Swapped Deaths
Chapter 1: True Colors?
"Well, this can't get any worse, both of my friends know the truth about how we got here, my dad-figure has betrayed me, and before that my cru- I MEAN MY FRIEND, yes my friend who has beautiful golden hair betrayed me and tried to lock me away, at least nobody died, other than Frobo but can robots even die? Anyway, I gotta open this portal before Andrias notices me being gone."
Marcy thought to herself while opening the portal, meanwhile in the background the most anime battle possible was happening, but she couldn't look at it or else the portal would send them somewhere probably worse than Amphibia (not that it was a bad place, far from that it was a great place to live and if she could, she would live there, better than being with her parents at least) , so even if Marcy could feel the anime leaking from the battle she had to focus before the portal either broke or send them to anywhere else other than Earth, and that's bad.
After stabilizing the portal and making sure it ends in Los Angeles (somehow) she hears a BIG roar, she almost drops the box after being spooked by it, she looks back just to see Anne absolutely destroy a shield and then pass out, after seeing Sprig making sure she's okay the castle starts shaking "Maybe when Anne became "Blue Anne" she started emitting some of the stones' energy and thus kept the castle in the air, now that she isn't Blue anymore the castle is going to fall, which means-" Marcy stopped herself there, those thoughts were too depressing, even to herself.
"THE BOX!" Andrias yelled before stomping towards Marcy, that was one of the most terrifying things she has ever seen, after her fear paralysis went away, she noticed Anne was pushing her into the portal. She took the box since Marcy almost dropped it out of fear.
"Get in Marcy, Sasha is stalling for us so just GET IN!" Anne said to a paralyzed Marcy before she woke up.
"But-" Marcy started "JUST GET IN MAR-MAR" Anne rebutted, before she pushed Marcy into the portal, Marcy could only see back for second and that was the worst thing she ever saw, a stabbed through the heart Anne, and the last thing she heard was a weak "frog damnit" and then a thud, after that she passed out after getting inside the portal.
Car horns, many car horns, this is almost like she's back in L.A.
"Wait a second, Amphibia doesn't have cars. Where are we?"
Marcy was the first to wake up, she was covered in frog slime, her ears were ringing from all the car horns, and her back hurt for some reason. She looked around and saw cars, skyscrapers and, of course, the smoke from the cars. After some time, the Plantars woke up, and looked around, probably VERY confused about where they are.
"What the? Where are we?" Hop pop asked
"Earth. We- We are on Earth." Marcy answered
Meanwhile, back in Amphibia
"Well. You are not the one who I wanted, my master will be very disappointed that to be host left, welp at least the gifted one is dead." Andrias said before the blue gem started to blink rapidly until *POOF* it turned off, and thus the whole castle started shaking HARD.
"LIEUTENANT, WE HAVE TO GO NOW!" Grime had to yell over the whole, y'know, shaking castle.
"BUT! ANNE IS STILL THERE!" Sasha yelled back
"IF WE DO NOT LEAVE NOW! WE WILL MEET HER SOON!" Grime yelled, while grabbing Sasha by the waist
"GRIME! LET ME GO NOW!" Sasha screamed while kicking Grime's arm, even with her protests Grime jumped off the window, after a few seconds in the air and some screaming Sasha finally says normally.
"So… now what?" "HAHAHA *sigh* I don't know, I was expecting for us to find something to catch us-" Grime is cut short by a giant fucking bird that Sasha takes a second to realize is just Joe Sparrow.
"Oh, hi there birdie." Sasha says after FINALLY being put down from Grime's arm and grabbing the leads from Joe, "Now let's go back to WartWood, while I try to manage whatever the fuck just happened because, HOLY SHIT a lot just happened in just 5 minutes."
"Y'know normally I would disagree but, even I agree that a lot happened." Grime says in response. "Now, what will we do in WartWood?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, do we tell them that Anne is dead and that Marcy disappeared through a portal to who-knows-where? Or do we lie?"
"Oh, yea makes sense. I say we lie, as much as I hate it if we tell the truth they would probably kill us."
"Do we tell them about our dear king?"
"Absolutely, if we don't HE will kill us and destroy the city."
"Okay, so let me get this straight, we lie about Anne and Marcy but tell the truth about Andrias?"
"yep"
"Good, cause we're right above WartWood" Grime says, right after saying that Sasha starts lowering Joe into the city.
The city is bustling with activity, which stops completely as they see Joe Sparrow above the city lowering slowly, they hope to see Marcy or Anne but are severely disappointed when they see Captain Grime and Sasha Waybright leave it.
"Well shit, so now I either lie and get fucked later, or tell the truth and get fucked now, yes I did make that promise with Grimesy but it's harder now for some reason. Almost as if I would disappoint Anne, but you can't disappoint a dead person… Right?" Sasha thought to herself while leaving Joe Sparrow, she looked around the city hoping to see anyone she knew, unfortunately the only people she knew are gone, at least she recognizes That Pink Frog's girlfriend, and she's very confused, sad and mad who wouldn't be? Your boyfriend says he's going to help his friend, and when you see the one thing that could mean he's back you see the BITCH who invaded your village (ONCE),I would be mad too, I would have killed at the first sight or thrown a curse or whatever the people in this city do.
"People of WartWood, we have come to protect your city from King Andrias who turned out to be evil, your protector Anne asked me and my lieutenant while her and the other human looked for a way to defeat the king." The people looked around and between each other Sasha could hear a few whispers, she could only identify a few 'is that true?' 'The king is evil?' and some others, and then the mayor of the city, who is surprisingly a toad, called Toadstool and his non-toad assistant called Toadie came and said. "So… How can we trust you?" He tried to sound menacing, but his legs were shaking and it made an audible wobble wobble, but hey he was trying and that's got to be worth something and he did try to stand up to Grime so I'll give him that.
"Uhhhhhhh" Grime try to say something
"If we are lying, how do you explain the flying castle?" Sasha said while gesturing to the general direction of Andrias's castle
"What flying castle?" Toadstool answered, and Sasha's stomach dropped, she looked back to where the castle was and… he wasn't lying, there was no castle
"What? I swear there was a castle there. Just take us in, we will protect the city while we are here, and Anne is away." Sasha said
"As much as I hate to say it, we do need someone to protect us and who better than The Captain Grime and one of the humans so… you can stay in the Plantars's house while they are away, which you both wouldn't know what happened to them?" Toadstool questioned
Sasha could see Grime start to sweat which was pretty bad to the both of them since if the townspeople noticed they'd know they are lying and if they are lying, something bad happened which would destroy the trust they just created.
"They are with Anne and Mar-Mar, you know how they are, always wanting to be with Anne." Sasha kinda lied, they are adventuring with Marcy, but Anne can't really adventure being dead.
"WHAT ABOUT SPRIG? DID HE SAY ANYTHING TO ME?" Ivy basically demanded to know, Sasha tried to remember who she was and realized that was the pink frog's girlfriend
"If he said anything, I can't remember sorry little frog" Sasha said to Ivy who was getting very close to her face
"I swear i-if you are lying, and he's hurt I'll-" Ivy tried to say something behind her tears but she ended up just crying while holding onto a part of Sasha's armor
"Hey, look at me, I can tell you he's not hurt, I know at least that much, okay?" Sasha said back trying to keep her voice in a hush, she said that both to the little frog she was holding and to herself.
After Ivy went back to her mom, Toadstool led Grime and Sasha to the Plantars household and after he made sure the door was unlocked, he left.
"Hmm, I don't know why but I remember it being smaller, don't you lieutenant? Lieutenant?" Grime asked before turning around to see Sasha "Sasha, are you okay?" Grime saw a terrified Sasha, what he couldn't see were the thoughts Sasha was having.
"You let her die. It was all your fault. I'M DONE BEING FRIENDS WITH YOU! Frog damn it… Why did you let me die Sasha?" Was all Sasha could hear while standing in front of the house until "LIEUTENANT!" Grime yelled while holding an hyperventilating Sasha, she hadn't even noticed it, when did she start hyperventilating? Was that what a panic attack was?
She was lucky Grime was there, she doesn't know what would have happened if he wasn't there, speaking of Grime, he was saying something, but Sasha couldn't hear him, for some reason she couldn't hear anything other than her own thoughts until she heard grime say:
"Deep breaths Sasha, deep breaths. Look at me, hey hey, look at me. Deep breaths." Grime snapped his fingers when he said, 'hey hey', which helped Sasha focus on his words, they both stood there until Sasha calmed down, after she calmed down Grime was the first one to speak:
"Hey kid… are you ok? I know that one of your friends did just die, and your other friend disappeared through a portal, but you said to me you didn't care about them… were you lying to me or to yourself? Because that reaction was not one from someone who doesn't care." Grime asked calmly " I don't know, I thought that I didn't care about Anne or what she thought of me… until she died right in front of me, and right before that Marcy disappeared through that portal and now we just lied right in the face of this entire town and-" Sasha couldn't finish her words before she just started crying, she was never one to cry in front of people, she usually just bottled it all up until it broke and she couldn't hide it anymore, this time though she just let it all out.
After she stopped crying, she just stood up and said "I… I'm going to go to sleep, goodnight Grimesy." And made her way towards the barn, Grime was going to say something, but he stopped himself and let her go to sleep in the barn, "More room for me I guess" he thought to himself while going inside the house looking for a place to sleep, it was getting quite late after all.
Back on Earth, right after we left
After finding a quieter place, and Marcy realizing that yes, she is indeed back on earth. She realized that she didn't know where her and Sasha's parents are. She knows exactly why for both, the only people who she hopes will take her and the Plantars in are Anne's parents, and even then, there's still the chance that they don't take them in.
"So, do you have a place where we can stay?" Hop Pop asked
"I think I know a place, Hop Pop. Anne's house, her parents are cool about who stays there." Marcy answered, slightly hoping that she was telling the truth. "I mean, there was a time where me and Sasha stayed in her house for a few days because of… *ahem* reasons." Marcy knew exactly what were the 'reasons', Sasha's parents were having one of their nastiest fights, something about Sasha being Bi going against 'god's will' or something like that, she needed a place to stay for some time and Marcy was already in Anne's house, so she decided to stay there for a few days. And Marcy loved every second of it, she was sad for Sasha because of the reason she was there but hey, beggars can't be choosers.
"Wait, so we are going to stay in Anne's house until we find a way back?" Sprig asked
"Yeap, I don't know how to get you guys back… YET! So, until then we stay in Anne's house." Marcy says, while she guides them to Anne's house, she told them random facts about Earth and other stuff, like how most insects are small and harmless and that, yes, unfortunately frogs are very small.
While in the middle of one of her facts she realized they had arrived there.
"Oh, we're here, so, since it's been 6 months since any of us appeared… literally anywhere, so let's do this slowly. Hide in these until I call you guys." Marcy said while putting them in some conveniently placed trash cans. "Ok, this is it, it's been six months since they last saw you, got to make a good impression, it's not like you saw their daughter die before your very eyes." Marcy thought while knocking on the door.
It took some time for anyone to answer door, and when someone did it was Mr. Boonchuy, the one person who Marcy can actually chill with, as soon as the door opened Marcy could even say an "hi" she's hugged so tight that she was sure she could hear a crack from her spine.
"I'm so glad you're back, you don't know how much I missed our game nights."
"Hiya Mr. Boonchuy, I missed you too." Marcy returned the hug
"Hey honey, who's at the door?" Ms. Boonchuy, who Marcy assumed was still in the kitchen, asked
"It's Marcy."
"The one who used to play with you every Friday?"
"Yep, the one and only."
Marcy was flushed red, she was surprised by how fondly Mr. Boonchuy remembered her… How the frick is she supposed to tell them that their daughter is dead? Wait, why did she think that Anne isn't dead, she can't be. Not before she can confess her feelings to her.
"Wait, do I have feelings for Anne or Sasha, I can't have feelings for the both of them… Can I?" Marcy thought to herself while explaining MOST of the situation, omitting the ALL of the King Andrias situation, saying that Anne and Sasha are still in there and:
"... Here's my proof, THE Plantars." She says gesturing to the Plantars that appeared WHEN THEY WERE TOLD, she could see the gears turning on Mr. and Ms. Boonchuy's head.
"So what you're telling us… is that our daughter is stuck in a different world with giant killer insects and talking frogs. Honestly if it weren't for these… planters, was it?" "Plantars." "Plantars, I don't think we would've believed you." Mr. Boonchuy said
"Okay, but how would you explain this?" Marcy showed her wrist crossbow and almost shot it
"You being you." "Okay, you know what. Fair." After some more explanations, some question answering and some begging the Boonchuys let the Plantars stay in their house until Marcy finds a way back to Amphibia.
"This is going to take some time, isn't it?" Marcy thought to herself before putting her stuff on Anne's bed
