Hello everyone! This is QueenofWords1! Just to get everyone started this is my first Y/N story. I've been itching to make something like this and here it is. Just a pre-note, this first chapter sets up the way you know and are involved with the Warners. This story is set up for female readers by the way. Sorry dudes out there.

And yes, this is a multi-chapter story with a long plotline. Many more sub-plots along the way too. And just fair warning, these chapters are pretty long. I do use ocs in this story as well. And if that's not your cup of tea you just don't have to read.

This story will update every two weeks and once school is back in session it might turn into monthly updates. Just a heads up.

Besides that, enjoy! Please comment too!

It all started with that charming smile. His pearly whites flashing your direction from across the lunch table. An apple, your apple, tucked firmly in his hand. He bites it, and your eyes narrow as he savors every taste of your lunch apple.

You were so mad. You decked him. Square in the teeth. Right where it hurts.

He actually cried. And you were sent home early.

That's how Yakko became your friend. That's how he became yours. Everyday since then, there was nothing but talking at recess, sharing toys at playtime, and snuggles at nap time. Sure you broke one of his teeth, but he smiled when you tried to apologize.

"Tha' nothing!" He points at the dark gap where his tooth once was. A new tooth growing in right where the old one was. Problem solved.

Preschool was alright from then on. You made friends with his younger siblings. Wakko was so adorable back then. Dot would always be the cute one in her newborn baby onesie, stealing all the attention. One time you and Yakko tried mailing her out to Hawaii. You don't quite remember why Hawaii, but it was better than nothing. Your mother screamed in terror, watching you carry baby Dot to her awaiting box, prepared by none other than the eldest himself. The words "To: Hawaii, P.S. Never return back" firmly written all over the box in sharpie.

You both were grounded. There was no chocolate milk for a month. But Wakko always made sure to sneak some just in case.

Those were the good old days alright. When it was just you and him. He was your everything. Your very best friend. Not a special friend. You made sure it was never a special friend. He warned you about that. You asked him why one time it couldn't be "special friends" instead of "best friends". That's when he grinned.

"The difference is easy." You remember him saying. "Special friends, we mess around with. But best friends, they are well…the best! That's us!"

Being only so young, you weren't sure what mess around meant quite yet. But then she came along. The witch.

It was "Bring your Siblings to School Day" and being the only child in your family, Yakko had proposed sharing Wakko and Dot with you. When your parents dropped you all off, the teacher wasn't meeting anyone at the door like she usually does. The reason why became obvious once you all headed inside.

"I WANT COOKIE! NOOOOOOW!" a little blonde girl screamed at the top of her lungs.

You would find out later the teacher had left to get this little girl's parents, but for now, an older boy, blonde and looked like he was in the fifth grade, grimaced and glared back at her. "No! It's not snack time yet!"

"AAAAAHHHHHH!" She screamed, falling onto her stomach and beating the floor with her fists.

The boy just sat back down and ignored her. Every other kid with their siblings was in agony. Some had started crying because she was.

"What a witch." You said in a huff. Yakko crossed his arms, nodding to agree with you.

But then, and Wakko was just being the sweetest darling, Wakko pulls out a cookie from his pocket. With the biggest smile on his face, his tongue poking out in the cutest fashion, he waddles right over, holding up the cookie for all to see. But he never got too close. The witch's elder sibling stops him.

"She can't have it." He says making Wakko frown. "She'll spoil her lunch."

"I CAN IF I WANT TO!" The witch screams. The older boy just groans and puts his head between his legs in defeat.

You watched Wakko take this opportunity to present his gift to the girl. "Here!"

The witch, she stops crying, just long enough to look Wakko in the face. The way her face fell seeing it was raisin chocolate chip would have made any grown adult piss their pants. She huffs and gets to her feet. She snatches the cookie.

"What is this?" That witch snaps, holding out the cookie in front of the toddler, waving it around like it was a disease.

Poor sweet Wakko, he just stares back. "A cookie?"

She stomps. Wakko jumps. "NO! IT'S TRASH! TRASH!"

She presumes to slap the cookie against the floor and smash the poor thing with the tip of her shoe.

Your jaw dropped. Yakko's eyes widened in disbelief. Dot started crying. And Wakko…

"BWAAAHHHH!"

Wakko runs back towards you and Yakko, tears already streaming down his furry cheeks. Yakko embraces his little brother and you dare to glare at the witch herself. The little brat had the audacity to glare back.

It wouldn't be until snack time that everything had calmed down and everyone was enjoying the treats laid out by the teacher. Unfortunately, the teacher never quite got the parents of the witch, who you learned was named Delphine, to get her to take her back home. Instead, there was a quick scolding and a simple "Play nice with everyone." reprimanding from the parents.

"I hate her!" Yakko announces, wiping graham cracker crumbs off Wakko's face with a napkin.

"I know!" You said aloud before dropping your voice down to a whisper. "Let's make her a special friend!"

Yakko stopped cold before you. And you swear, to this day, no toddler should have made the grin this boy did.

"Yeah!"

"Yes!" You cheered and got off the chair. But Yakko grabs your arm. "Huh?"

"Let's be smart." Yakko smiles. He's then dragging you over to the sandbox and gestures to you to sit down.

You do so and before you know it, Yakko is yelling, "Oh, what fun! I just love sand castle making!"

You're confused before a screech comes from across the playground.

"I WANT TO MAKE SAND CASTLES!" Delphine, the witch as you would keep on calling her, stomps over, her brother not even batting an eye in her direction this time.

Yakko pulls you close and whispers. "When I wink, make a bucket of sand. Okay?"

You nod and begin playing in the sand like it was the best thing in the world. The witch gets up close in your face.

"Move!" She spits, and pushes you out of your spot. You shriek, falling and getting sand all over you. Yakko frowns and gets up.

"Excuse me?" He says, hands behind his back and looking at the witch, who firmly planted her behind in your spot. "That spot belongs to my friend."

"Nu uh!" She sneers. "It's my turn."

"Oooh! I see." Yakko says with a smile, nodding. "Cause sharing is caring right?" He adds in, looking at you and winks.

You didn't answer right away, because you were busy getting sand out of your eye so Yakko repeats. "Right?"

"Right!" You say back and get up, moving over to the corner of the sandbox, snatching up a bucket and presume to fill it up with lots and lots of sand. You even sneak a few rocks in there for good measure. All the while, Yakko is talking up a storm, asking the witch question after question about her sandcastle.

"Why are you using shells?"

"Cause they're boo-tiful!"

"Why?"

"Because they are."

"Why?"

"They're shiny." She puts emphasis on the word shiny.

"Why?"

"Why are you so annoying?" Delphine sneers. She ignores him and continues making a mound of sand.

Yakko points at her. "You're getting sand everywhere!"

"Ew."

"Especially there." Yakko says with a smile, and you notice his hand waving at you to come over.

Now's your chance! You grab the bucket and hall it over. You were ready to tell her exactly where that sand was.

Delphine blinks. She looks down at herself. "Where?"

"HERE!" You scream and Yakko moves out of the way as soon as you dump all the sand in that pretty bucket of yours all over her face. The witch gasps and sputters out sand before looking at her clothes in disgust and horror.

Yakko grins. "Right there…well everywhere now."

"Justice for Wakko!" You scream and drag Yakko off back to the table, right as the witch shrieks her head off.

You and Yakko quickly sit back in your spots and just in time too as the witch's brother hears his sister shrieking. You were both a bunch of giggling idiots then. Just laughing at how easy that had been.

Too bad you were both covered in sand. Could've gotten away with it too.

The little witch would only get worse growing up. She took every moment in grade school to taunt you, tease you about how you looked like a pig. It was her favorite word. You dressed like one, ate like one, and sounded like one. The special friend treatment worked a few times, but never had a girl get on Yakko's nerves as the witch did.

She was a problem you both shared. The only problem. Little did you know that when you and Yakko hit middle school, things would take a turn for the worse…

At the time you and Yakko had fun. Before middle school started you and Yakko were stuck at the hip. Weekends were sleepovers, weekdays were days set to come over to each other's houses for dinner and homework before spending the rest of the day talking about your weekend sleepovers. You both grew into a beautiful routine.

Yakko and you had grown since preschool, obviously. You were growing up, maturing as your father would say it. Your body was changing in ways you were still trying to get a grasp on. Your beloved friend, he was starting to look different to you. The tallness of his body that was once dorky, made you shy whenever you noticed he was always a inch or two taller with every growth spurt he had; his growing interest in girls, made you sick to think about; and lastly his charming grin, made you feel butterflies in your stomach whenever he smiled your way.

You remember the summer before middle school, it was still just you and Yakko. There was no school to think about and you both had all the time in the world.

"Hey," Yakko said to you once, that summer, flashing his winning smile. You were both at the city park, leaning over the railings of the pond.

You look at him. "Hmm?"

He grins, inching in closer. "You have something on your face."

Instinctively, you touch your face. "Omg, do I? Where is it?"

Yakko grasps your chin, tilting your head as if inspecting it. "I'm not sure…"

"Yakko!"

He laughs, making your stomach flutter. He locks his eyes on you. "It's right here…"

You were too late to notice how close he was now. He gives you a quick peck on the lips. Your eyes went wide. You were so alarmed, you pushed him.

"Yakko what the fuck?" You shriek, mostly surprised and not at all angry. Yakko just stares back, looking like that wasn't the reaction he expected.

"I'm sorry. Was it bad?" He asks, and you just stare at him.

You brush some of your hair behind your ear. You bit your lip. You had never been kissed before. And Yakko had just….he just…

"No." You finally said, your face flushing, you turned away from him. "It wasn't."

"Hey," He puts a hand on your shoulder. "I didn't really mean anything by it-"

"What?" You turn back around, outraged now. That was for nothing? Had he just done it for shits and giggles?

"No, no. I didn't mean it like that." He rephrased.

"Then like what?" You demanded, looking at the floor. Your face was red, you were sure.

He caught you by your chin once again. He lifts your face up to reach his eyes. He's so close.

"I didn't mean anything bad by it." He confesses. "I was…curious."

"Curious?" It wasn't the answer you wanted, but it was enough to look him in the eye now.

"Mhm." he admits, you can see the white of his teeth now while he grins. "Very curious. Too curious for my own health and wellbeing." He cups your face with his hands. "Do you like how I flirt?"

Your face was well cherry red now. "Yakko-"

"Sorry, I watched a movie yesterday." He adds in before you could get much out. He lets you go, making you miss the softness of his white velvet gloves. "The actors were doing that back and forth. You know, flirting? I was just curious if I could do that too."

You process what he said, swallowing the words in your mouth. "If you could?"

He smiles, the old Yakko charm sliding right into view. "Flirt! Wasn't that obvious?"

You sigh, dropping your head down. "No Yakko…no it wasn't."

You look back up. Yakko chuckles nervously, rubbing the back of his neck before grabbing your hand. "I'm sorry, maybe I should've been more forward-"

"No!"

"With what I was trying to do." He adds in, cocking an eyebrow at me. I wait several seconds for his smile to return, giving me a full view of his cocked up eye and grin. I savored every second of that face.

I blush and turn away. He only laughs.

And that was the story of your first kiss. Albeit, it wasn't as romantic as you would have wanted it, it was still a kiss. A kiss that would go untalked about for many more months. All summer you waited for another opportunity like that one. Maybe a chance to see if he'd try to practice again, or maybe this time you would have the courage to do something. But it never came.

That's when middle school began. You got ready for the first day. The school had changed policies so now everyone was required to wear a uniform. Something about reducing peer pressures and bullying. But either way, everyone now wore school pants and shirts.

You kept your hair fine and brushed and ate a hearty breakfast before leaving the house in that school uniform. It wasn't as comfy as the clothes you would have chosen, but it was better than nothing.

"Hey!" Yakko calls out. Across the street, Yakko and his siblings were waiting for the school bus, he was waving right at you. You smiled and headed over.

"Ready to become a middle schooler?" Yakko said once you got closer. You couldn't help but notice how striking he looked in his uniform. He chose to wear a tie. It looked dashing on him.

"Nah, I want to head back to bed and sleep the day away." You admitted and all the Warner siblings laughed. "I think I'm ready, kinda. I'm a little nervous."

"Honestly, so am I." Yakko admits. He smiles and you smile back. From the corner of your eye, you see Wakko and Dot look at each other with knowing smiles. You blush and face forward, waiting for the bus with them.

In minutes, the bus arrives and the doors open up. You all climb on and take your seats. You had a window seat with Yakko, while Wakko and Dot took the seats behind you. The bus was crowded as always, rowdy with growing teens and plenty of them sleeping or talking. The bus driver doesn't bother and drives onward.

"The witch's house is next." You sneer, leaning back in your seat.

Wakko jumps up and leans on top of the back of your seat and you see his jaw drop. "Indeed it is…"

"What?" You question and try to peer over the seats to get a good look. Yakko follows your lead.

Not a day in your life were you ever so disgusted as you were now. It was indeed, to quote Wakko, the witch herself, but unfortunately for your sanity, puberty hit her harder than the rest of the girls. And this bitch was sashaying her ass onto the bus, drawing the eyes of many students as she walked down the bus aisle.

You recall the summer before, when the witch wore nothing but dresses and skirts and those training bras. But now, she walks in with her chest full in everyone's faces. Her pants barely contain the hips that are on this girl. She's like a super model in a teen's body. Obviously, she went to the beach, or one of those tanning salons, because her skin was far tanner than it had been that summer before.

You sit back down as the witch finds her own seat. "What a bitch."

"Uh huh." You notice Yakko still hasn't moved from his spot, practically hanging off the seat by a single cheek of his ass to get a bright view of the witch.

It took you a full moment to register this new information. Yakko, your best friend in the whole wide world, has the hots for Delphine, witch of the school? Oh, hell no.

You actually dared to grab him by the tail and yank him back onto the seat. He jumps a good foot off his seat and turns to you.

"What the hell?" He curses, glaring.

You glare right back and huff. Yakko only mutters and sits back in his seat.

You hoped with all your heart that would be it. That would only be the stare he dared give her. But that's when later on in the day, when lunch rolls around, things escalate.

"Where are you going?" You asked Yakko, as he turned for the front of the lunch room. He stops dead. It was common for you and Yakko to sit at the back of the lunch room, at your table which you've always shared together. He turns to you. And never has he looked so guilty.

"I was thinking." Yakko begins. "Maybe this time…we could sit with different people?"

"What?" You say in shock. "You want to sit elsewhere? But why-"

That's when Delphine and her friends sit at the table behind Yakko. Yakko turns his head around and stares dead at them. It dawns on you…

A rush of anger goes through you. You turn right around. "You know what, that's fine."

"Wait, really?" You hear him say.

"Of course. Why would I want my friend with me anyway?" You snap and rush off. You left him there and didn't look back to see what his reaction was. Safe to say, you ate alone that day at lunch.

The bus ride home was no different. You sat down, taking the window seat, but Yakko was late. School schedule didn't let you and Yakko have the same end of the day classes so instead you were left waiting for the bastard on the bus. Anger boiled inside you. You and Yakko have always sat for lunch together. Always! It wasn't fair. None of this was fair.

You peek over the seats.

To your horror, Yakko was with her. The witch. Delphine. They were talking. Actually talking! And worse yet, laughing with each other. You dared to make eye contact with Yakko. How fast that boy paled, it could have set world records.

He excused himself from Delphine and made his way over to you.

"What the hell was that?" You questioned him.

"What are you talking about?" He snaps. You find yourself startled. Did he just raise his voice at you? Yakko? Raising his voice?

You cross your arms. A ball of tears is stuck in your throat, making it hard to swallow. You don't dare look at him and turn away, facing towards the window. Your silence must have concerned him, because his voice returns, all anger gone.

"Look…I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped." Yakko says. You feel him place a hand on your shoulder, but you brush it off.

"It's because she's hot, isn't it?" You mutter.

"What?"

"You like her now because she's hot." You glare at him. He wrinkles his nose.

"She may be a little hot," You open your mouth to talk, but he cuts you off. "But that doesn't mean anything."

The bus starts to drive forward. Wakko and Dot have gotten onto the bus, you notice. They were talking happily, but upon noticing you, they stopped and started whispering. They take their usual spots behind you and Yakko, but don't say hi.

You could feel Yakko's eyes on you.. "Look at me. Please."

You don't want to but you do. He continues "I just want to get to know her better. Is there something wrong with that?"

"She's a witch, Yakko." You mutter. "We call her that all the time."

"I know." He says. "But I got to talking to her, and she's really not that bad-"

"How can you say that!" You snap, perhaps a bit too loud. Several students turn your way. Your cheeks burn. You lower your voice, ignoring their stares. "You know what she's really like. She used to call me a pig!"

"In grade school!"

"That was only like a summer ago!" You snap back.

Yakko sits forward and crosses his arms, brow set downwards and lips in a thin line. "You know what, forget it. You're so stubborn."

"Stubborn?" You gasp.

"Oh dear." You hear Wakko from behind you mutter, but you didn't bother reprimanding him for eavesdropping.

"Yes." He says definitely, looking you in the eye and glaring. "You are. I just wanna hang out with her for a change. Is that so bad?"

"Yes it is, she's a witch-"

"Stop calling her that!"

"You were fine with it this morning."

"That was until-"

"Is something wrong here?"

You both look up. Delphine was right there, leaning against the seat in front of you, hand on her hip and staring at you and Yakko.

"Actually-" You begin but Yakko cuts you off.

"Actually." He says, standing up and out of his chair. Wakko and Dot were now leaning against the seat and their jaws dropped as they watched their brother do this. "I was just about to move seats."

Delphine flips her hair back, her long beautiful hair back. She smiles at Yakko, making your blood boil. "There's a free spot by me."

"Thank you, Delphine." Yakko shoots you a glare. "That's very kind of you."

Your eyes could not comprehend this bullshit. Yakko walks away with Delphine, leaving you all alone with the rest of the Warner siblings. You face forward once again. You swallow hard.

You hear your name being called from behind you in a whisper, but you ignore Wakko and Dot. You didn't want to be comforted now. Not after that.

The bus stops by your street and you rush off, not bothering to wait for the siblings or their brother to get off. You don't manage to get that far onto the street, because a set of footsteps are running after you. You hear your name being called.

"Wait!" Yakko yells. You stop and you hear his footsteps come to a stop behind you. He says your name again. "Look, I'm sorry I snapped like that. I got angry. You made me angry-"

"And you think I wasn't?" You yell, finally turning to face him. He looks like he's in pain the way he stares at you and grimaces.

He straightens up, sighing. "I know you're angry."

"I'm fucking pissed Yakko!" You scream, making him flinch back. His siblings are running up at this point. "You don't sit with me at lunch, you start talking to her, and argue with me? What kind of friend blows off their friend for some girl?"

"I just wanted-"

"I know what you wanted!" You scream, your face turning red. "But did you think about me? No! Don't you think I have feelings too?"

Yakko's face turns red, he looks ballistic.

"She's a horrible person and you know it." You snort.

"Just because she called you a pig?" He snorts.

Your eyes widen.

"Yakko!" Wakko and Dot say in unison.

"No, really." Yakko turns around. He glares at you. "You know, I wanted to tell you she said she'd apologize for all that. I didn't know whether to believe her or not, but I'm trying to give her that chance okay? Maybe that's what she wants. A chance."

"My god, Yakko. Are you brain dead?" You find yourself yelling, short of disbelief. "She's a witch and she will always be a witch. She's lying!"

"She is not!"

"Says who?"

"Says me." Yakko persists. He growls in frustration, making you look away. "You know what, fine. Be stubborn!"

He starts walking away and you look up. "Where are you going?"

"Home!" he yells back and keeps walking.

"Sorry, but we gotta-" Wakko runs after Yakko and Dot follows after, leaving you in the middle of the street.

You wished you had gone back that day, gone back and apologized, but you were stubborn. You walked home.

On that day, you and Yakko slowly drifted. Whenever the chance came up to talk, one of you had to ruin it.

"Stop asking about her!" Yakko yells at you, you and him had just got off the bus. He'd chosen to sit with her again, pissing you off.

"I'm not!"

And it wasn't the arguing that made it worse. It was how close those two were getting together. They weren't only hanging out at lunch. It was recess now too. Delphine was at his hip now, like a lock and chain. Stuck and refusing to let go. It made you angry just thinking about it. How she had her arms around him, cuddling up to him like he was her pet. Disgusting.

Wakko and Dot always tried to make you feel better, hanging out with you on the bus and after school. Yakko decided to spend some time with Delphine. Study dates or something of the sort.

The weeks were passing and the amount of time he spent with her was getting longer. You were feeling agitated. You were getting angrier and angrier. You knew you liked him, liked him a lot, even as a friend you knew it was more than that. You just wished he shared the same feelings as you did. And stopped hanging out with such a-

"What?" Yakko says one time you got him to skip gym to talk just outside the bathrooms. The halls were empty and everyone was in class. It's been five months, he spends all his time with Delphine now and not you.

"We don't hang out anymore." You meekly say.

Yakko scoffs, turning away and crossing his arms over his chest. "You don't say…"

"Yakko." You begin, looking up and he meets your eye. You hold the stare for a second, before looking away, embarrassed. Emotions were tumbling around in your stomach, like you were infected with food poisoning.

"What?" He asks, when you don't say anything.

You breathe. "You know what. Never mind."

You try to leave.

"Wait." Yakko says and you turn to see him pinching the bridge of his nose. "If this is about-"

"No, it's not about Delphine…a little, but-"

"I don't want to hear it." Yakko says firmly and you look him in the eye. He looks tired. Tired of all this arguing. "It's been, what? Months? All you do is talk about her like she's a disease."

You grind your teeth. "You know I don't like her."

Yakko's brow furrows. "I know."

You hold a stare and sigh. "I just wanted to know if we could hang out."

Yakko stares at you, as if deciding whether or not he should trust this. For months straight you've both been going back and forth about Delphine. You say she's never going to change. He says she's trying. You say she's such a witch. He says she's not. On and on. No wonder he didn't trust you.

"Hang out?" He asks like it's a question or you've grown three heads. "Just hang out?"

When you nod, he stops to think about it. You turn hopeful for a moment but he's shaking his head.

"I can't." He says, looking down at the ground. He mutters something.

"What?" You ask.

He sighs. "I have a date with Delphine-"

"You have got to be kidding me!"

He points a finger at you, growing angry. "This is exactly what I didn't want to start!"

"Look, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." You say quickly when Yakko tries to leave. You grab him by the arm. "Please, Yakko, we haven't hung out in months. Give me a chance. Please?"

"I told you I can't. Maybe another day."

"What if there's not another day?" You yell, throwing his arm down and forcing him to look at you. "You spend all your fucking time with your fucking girlfriend. I don't get a minute alone with you! We don't talk, we don't hang out! Hell, I'm not sure we're even friends, especially if you keep hanging out with that BITCH!"

The hall's dead silent, now. So quiet, a pin could drop and you wouldn't even notice it. Somehow you were still holding onto his arm. He brushes you off.

"You know, I thought maybe we could work something out, but now I'm not so sure. So excuse me, but I have a bitchy girlfriend waiting for me in the gym. Good day." Yakko turns, and walks off, leaving you where you stood.

"Yakko I-"

But he's gone.

Wait to go, you.

That was the last time you ever tried talking to him. You would see him at lunch, in between classes, and on the bus, but did you commit yourself to stand up and walk right over to him. Maybe try and talk. You failed in keeping this friendship together. That was your fault. It would always be your fault.

The years go by and you've been stuck in the same rut. You're friendless, have no social life whatsoever, and spend your time studying instead of making friends. Welcome to your life, the absolute shithole you've buried for yourself!

It gets the grades up, but doesn't make up for the time you've lost with him. Or how you've made it through one year of highschool without him.

You were both supposed to spend times like these together. Thick and thin. No matter what.

But you're not, and it's all your fault.

"You know."

What?

"I thought maybe we could work something out."

Yakko…

"But now I'm not so sure."

Please come back.

"Good day."

And he's never coming back.
