From Criminal to Huntress

This is the story of Lapis Lazuli, a young Faunus girl who left the White Fang to pursue creatures of Grimm as vengeance for the slaughter of her village. she comes across Team RWBY while in Vale and she and Blake recognize each other immediately. But some time later, Lapis begins to fall for fellow Faunus and Huntress in training Velvet Scarlatina and vice versa. Will they accept their feelings for each other and can Ruby and her friends convince Lapis to give up her quest for vengeance? We'll find out in this story.

Here's a bit about Lapis. Her hair reaches her waist and is colored blue like the stone she's named after and her outfits' colors are black and blue but that could change. Her eyes are silver like Ruby's as well. To hide her wolf ears in plain sight, she wears a wolf styled helmet that belonged to her father, as well as a blue top that looks like a one piece swimsuit under a matching leather jacket, a black miniskirt that stops just below her ass and black knee high boots. She also has a scar from when an Ursa Major Grimm slashed down her chest. Her weapon is called Blood Blade and it resembles a glowing katana sword. It's secondary function is as an assault rifle but both functions can use Dust if necessary. The color of the glow from her sword changes depending on the color of the Dust she uses. Her Semblance temporarily gives her hypnotic control of those who look her in the eyes as they change through the colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

-3rd person-

At the docks of the Kingdom of Vale, a ship docked and passengers got off. Among them was a teenage female Faunus with a wolf styled helmet on. She began walking around, taking in the sights while also keeping an eye out for dangers of any sort. Most people in the Four Kingdoms wouldn't seem so guarded, but this young lady had endured more than most should have to endure.

"Lapis?" A familiar voice called and the girl froze in her tracks and turned in the direction the voice to see a girl with an all too familiar black bow in her hair.

-Lapis-

"...Blake?" I say then we hug. "How've you been?" I ask as we pull back from the hug, happy to be see an old friend.

"Not too bad. You?" She asks, her eyes narrowed a bit as if she doesn't trust me.

"Not bad. And you can relax. Like you, I'm no longer one of them. I left to focus on my goal of exterminating Grimm."

"You're still on that?"

I sigh. "You weren't there. You didn't see the bloodbath those monsters left behind."

"You're right. But that doesn't stop me from worrying about you."

Three other girls approach us. One has blonde hair, another has white hair, and the third has black hair with red tips.

"Friend of yours, Blake?" The blonde asks.

Blake nods. "Girls, this is Lapis Lazuli. She's a Faunus like me." She says then nods at the blonde. "Lapis, this is Yang Xiao Long." She says then nods at the white haired girl. "This is Weiss Schnee." She continues then nods at the girl with red tips. "And this is Ruby Rose, Yang's younger half-sister. We're Team RWBY."

I look at Blake. "I figured you wouldn't do teammates again."

"We attend Beacon Academy." Ruby says.

"...I've always wanted to attend Beacon. My mother was a graduate from there. She retired from killing Grimm when I was born but they got me private lessons when I was eight. After my father's death by a Deathstalker's stinger and my mother being ripped apart by a Beowolf when I was ten, I became the only one who defended my village of Denn while still training. And I was good at it, facing down waves of those beasts. For all the good it did." I say.

"What do you mean?" Weiss asks.

"...Her village was overwhelmed by the biggest wave they'd ever seen. Lapis was the only one to survive the slaughter." Blake says.

I look down while feeling Ruby, Weiss, and Yang looking horrified then looking at me with sympathy.

"...So, do you have a Semblance?" Yang asks to change the subject.

I nod. "It's a stupid name I gave it called Dominance. It lets me temporarily control someone."

Blake's teammates nodded.

"So, how do you know Blake?" Yang asks.

"...Her parents adopted me after my mom and dad were killed. We stayed in the White Fang after they left it." I reply.

"Lapis left the same time I did." Blake adds. "She found out the White Fang were after humanity and they were trying to redirect her anger to them."

"If there's one thing I hate more than Grimm, it's being played."

"I know it's late to enter, but I could try to talk Professor Ozpin into letting you attend." Blake says.

I look at her. "Think he'd go for it?"

"One way to find out." She says then grabs my wrist then heads to Beacon while pulling me.

-3rd person-

Ozpin was sitting in his office when he eventually heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." He said and the two Faunus entered and he looked up at them.

"Hi, Professor Ozpin. I'm sorry to disturb you." Blake sais.

He shook his head then looked at Lapis. "Ah, Miss Lazuli."

Lapis looked surprised. "How'd you know my name?"

"I knew your mother well."

Lapis looked at Blake then back to Ozpin. "I know this is highly unorthodox, Professor, but I was wondering if I could be enrolled here at Beacon. As you know, my family has attended this school for generations and I'd like the chance to continue that tradition."

Ozpin thought it over then looked at them. "You'll need a team to stay with."

"Maybe she could be an honorary member of Team RWBY until you find suitable teammates for her? Lapis and I have known each other for a while so while it is a suggestion, would it be possible, Professor?" Blake asked.

Ozpin considered it then nodded. "Unfortunately, we can't get a fifth bed in your room, Blake."

"I have my sleeping bag I carry on my travels. I could alternate between it and sharing Blake's bed." Lapis said.

Ozpin nodded again. "Well, then. Welcome to Beacon Academy, Miss Lazuli. I will send for you when I find teammates I believe that you can work well with."

Lapis and Blake smiled then Blake led Lapis to her dorm.

That's chapter one. I apologize in advance if this story somehow seems a bit unpolished, but I hope this story goes far.
