HE NEVER EXPECTED TO be here holding her to his chest, amid all the destruction as the others stared on. The confused and betrayed looks coming from around the room were piercing but all he could focus on was the girl. He couldn't pinpoint the exact moment it all changed, what he did know is that he didn't regret the path he took. If he had to go through all the pain and suffering again just for it all to end with her in his arms, he would do it over and over to keep the same outcome. He pulled her back gently wiping her tears, brown met grey and he savoured this moment for he knew she would soon be pulled away by those she called friends. It was the same people who considered him to be the enemy, a coward, a Death Eater.
Where had his self-preservation gone? He was more concerned about making sure she was okay than what they would do to him. Could he blame them? Absolutely not. He deserved everything they threw his way, but they didn't know his story or their story. How completely and utterly soul crashing his task was for him. How after he found a little glimmer of hope she made it even brighter. The story she would call his redemption, the story he would call his salvation. It was at that moment they ripped her from him as she screamed out her protests, he closed his eyes awaiting the fate they would thrust upon him.

a/n: Hello everyone! This was a really short preface I know but it's how I wanted to start this story off. The side characters I am including will not be full force until later on in the story as well as Draco and Hermione interacting of course. This story will also be alternating between POVs, doing just one felt like it wouldn't do this story justice so I hope you guys will enjoy that. I am writing this as I post and I hope to update once a week but I am a student so bear with me.
