Jaune thought he'd feel fear or sadness when he was called to the chopping block of his Huntsman career. But by the time it finally came, all he could feel was that it didn't come fast enough. How did Jaune go from wanting to be nothing but a Huntsman to being glad his charade was over you ask? Simple, the students of Beacon showed him Huntsman were nothing more than glorified Mercenaries with a penchant for flashy clothes and high civilian casualty counts and wanton destruction of property. And how did they do this?
They chose to side Cardin Winchester, racist bully and all round uber-cunt. When Cardin found out about Jaunes transcripts he tried to blackmail him but Jaune thought he could trust his team and told him to go fuck himself, he thought wrong. When his transcripts were reveled the whole of the first years students despised and shunned him. But what hurt was when his so called team and friends did as well, Weiss's reaction was expected after all she hated him when she thought he was legit, Yang and Blake's didn't know him at all really so them hating him wasn't shocking, even Ren and Nora turning on him he could understand, but what truly twisted the knife was when Ruby and Pyrrha the two people he thought would stand by him, with good reason as they told him they would, abandoned him.
His remaining time at Beacon was spent in torment. He was punched, kicked, spit at, had anything that could be thrown at him thrown, and had to be removed from the roster during Combat Class less the other students try to kill him, again, but the thing he despised the most was the pity he saw in the teachers and older students eyes. He hated feeling weak, useless, helpless, he felt like those abused animals on the shelter ads, to defenseless to help themselves so they needed outside help, it reminded him of the reason he never got training in the first place, why he was a prisoner in his own home, why he was coddled so much that all but his older sisters hated him. He wasn't allowed to eat with his former team or sister team, couldn't sleep in his own room. After some first years found where he camped and almost beat him to death he was put in alternating teacher and upper year student abodes for his own safety.
After the first week of his new life Jaune got a letter from his father saying he was disowned and to return Crocea Mors. So now he was completely defenseless, wholly dependent on others to protect him, and he hated it. When he heard the call for him to report to the Headmasters office he was happy to go, it meant his torment was over, and so he left his abode, his last one being Ports, stone-faced as to not let the students who saw him get any satisfaction from him. When Jaune entered Ozpin's office he would have preferred looks of scorn and anger, instead bought Ozpin and Ms. Goodwitch looked at him with sadness and pity.
"I assume you know why you are here Mr. A… Jaune?" Ozpin sighed.
"Yes Headmaster." Jaune replied hollowly, getting the two teachers to flinch.
"I… I…" Ozpin swallows a lump in his throat. "Normally I would tell you to pack your things and that you had until sundown to leave or you would be escorted out, but something tells me you won't need that, will you Jaune?"
"No, sir." Jaune replied before thinking a moment. "Does that mean I have to return my uniforms?"
Jaune's armor and clothes where destroyed in the first week, so Ozpin provided him with multiple school uniforms to wear.
"Yes, I'm afraid, but the teachers and I will provide you with some clothes to wear." Ozpin answered.
Jaune nods before asking. "So what caused my expulsion? You're not cruel enough to let me stay for two months then expel me suddenly."
The two teacher cringed at Jaune's words.
"There's that attention to detail I made you leader for." Ozpin sighed. "Yes, I was planning to work something out so that we wouldn't lose such a promising student, unfortunately Mr. Winchester called his father and not only forced our hand in your expulsion, but also black-listed you from all the other Huntsman academies, I'm truly sorry, Jaune."
"Why?" Jaune asked.
"I'm sorry?" Ozpin asked, caught off-guard.
"Why are you apologizing? Your the only one who not only believed in me but gave me a way to achieve my dreams. If anything Professor I should the apologizing to you."
"B-but what about your dream? Aren't you mad it won't come true now?" Glynda spoke up, just as surprised as the silent Ozpin.
"No. That… that dream died a month ago." Jaune said no longer looking at them but through them at something a million miles away, he looked back to them. "May I go now?"
"Y-yes you may." Glynda choked out.
Jaune turned and walked to the door, before he exited the office he turned back to them and for the first time since stepping into the office, Jaune spoke with emotion, in a one of udder sincerity is said two simple words.
"Thank you."
Then left.
A few moment after Jaune left, Glynda turned to Ozpin, a myriad of emotions sprawled across her face.
"Ozpin, they've gone to far this time." Glynda said with barely contained rage. "Vigilantism, millions of Lien in property damage and in civil suits for injuries to civilians, and two member with prier criminal records, and that's just team RWBY!"
"Glynda I understand your feeling but we can't just…"
"Did you see him!" Glynda roared, the flood gates now opened. "They didn't just get him expelled they broke him! I'm sorry sir, but if they are not expelled and have criminal suits charged against them then I will be forced to resign."
"Glynda, you know how important they are, I can't just…"
"Very well. You will receive my resignation letter by the end of today." Glynda told, before turning and exiting the office without another word.
Ozpin slumped into his chair and sighed.
Jaune, now dressed in a simple black shirt with blue jeans and black converse, stood in the facially room surrounded by the teachers and team CFVY wishing him well.
"I'll miss you terribly my boy." Port said, lacking his normal boastfulness, as he clamped him hand on Jaune's shoulder. "I've taken the liberty to get you some books about Grimm physicality and how to hunt them, as well as how to survive in the various terrains in the wilds."
"And I've gotten you some books about tactics, both modern and historical, to feed that tactician mind of yours." Oobleck said in a slow and sad tone.
"And I've gotten some books about Dust and Herbalism." Peach smiled sadly.
"And we've brought you some Huntsman grade clothes!" Coco cheered, as Velvet sighed and the boys slumped in exhaustion.
Jaune smile his first genuine smile in the last two months. "Thank you all, really it means to world to me."
The teary farewell is broken by Glynda stepping into the room.
"It's time?" Jaune asked, Glynda simply nodded her head. "Well, time to pay the piper." Jaune looks back and gives them all a bright big smile. "Goodbye, and thank you all for every thing you've done."
With his affairs in order, Jaune leaves with Glynda to the docks with his new possessions is a duffle bag slung over his shoulder. They chose a time when the first years wouldn't be able to harass Jaune as he left, but to his surprise the older students were there to see him off, many cheering for his success or wishing him well, and some even saying it should be Cardin and RWBY leaving not him. Jaune thanked them all as he left, and once they were in front of the bullhead, Glynda stopped him.
"Mr. A… Jaune, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that you were the best student I've ever had the pleasure of teaching."
This caught Jaune off-guard. "R-really? But I was always at the bottom of the score board?"
"Yes you were, I've taught some that were stronger, smarter, faster. But none had your heart, your drive, or your ability to effectively work with complete strangers. That Jaune is what made you great."
Jaune pulled Glynda into a bear hug and started to cry. "T-thank you!"
Glynda was struggling to not cry herself. "No, thank you. Now get on there before I'm tempted to run away and train you myself."
Jaune broke from the hug giggling to himself. He readjusted his pack and entered the bullhead, after he entered he looked back and waved whilst smiling at those wishing him off. Glynda and the students waved back as the bullhead lifted off and traveled off to Argus. They stayed until the bullhead was outside the Kingdom, but as they were about to turn and continue their own lives, something horrible happened. Jaune's bullhead exploded.
Lisa Lavender walked onscreen for the evening news.
"Hello Vale, I'm Lisa Lavender, and I some terrible news for you all tonight. This afternoon a bullhead carrying the former Huntsman-in-training Jaune, formally Jaune Arc, exploded outside the walls of Vale. Police examination of the wreck show signs of foul play. Now as you all know Jaune was expelled for falsifying his transcripts, but since his expulsion happened two months after his transcripts were revealed, and that those tormenting him included Weiss Schnee, heiress to the SDC, Cardin Winchester, son of councilmen Alexander Winchester, and the Mistralian golden girl herself, Pyrrha Nikos, we here at VNN can't help but wonder if his bullhead wasn't the only instance of foul play. Us at VNN will be the first to inform you as this story unfolds. Now back to Carmine for the weather.
