Prologue

-An alternate timeline-

"Don't move so much. You'll only make your injuries worse" A middle aged woman with parted blue hair that fell down the side of her head to the base of her shoulders told the man on the bed below her. Her blue eyes were full of concern as she applied a medicinal spray to a sharp cut on the right arm of the very muscular man who lay flat on a hospital bed.

"Don't tell me what to do, Woman" The man grumbled, but he did not resist. His exposed chest and arms were covered in welts, scars, burns, and bruises. His left eye shut in pain as his right sported a heavy bruise. A blanket covered his lower body. His sharp black spiky hair was singed and even more messy than usual.

"I'm sorry Vegeta, I just can't lose you. We've lost so much in the past ten years, I don't think I could manage to lose you, not after we lost Trunks. Not after everyone else" The woman said, lines forming on her face as she shut her eyes to hold back the tears as she sat back in her chair next to his bed.

The white light of the medical room shone down on the two giving no warmth or solace to her.

She opened her eyes when she felt to the firm grasp of her husband's hand on her shoulder.

"I won't die that easily. I am Vegeta, the prince of the Saiyans and your Husband. I will never die, not now. Not ever" Vegeta sat up on the bed and gave his wife a reassuring squeeze on her shoulder. His Tail flicking back and forth behind him.

Bulma couldn't help but give a smile at that. In the past few years, he had become softer towards her, and it had shown.

"You know Vegeta, I'm almost finished with the time machine. When I finish, I want you to go back to the past and stop this whole horrible world from happening" Bulma said softly to her husband.

"We've talked about this before and I will not change my mind. I will never leave you to face those machines alone. You go. Besides, you'll have a better chance of convincing everyone" Vegeta replied in the negative, removing his hand from her shoulder and sternly looking at her.

Bulma looked down in silence as if she were struggling with how to respond to his words. Logically he was right. She would be much more trustworthy than him, and she knew that Vegeta would not let her stay defenseless for a moment.

"Fine. I'll go" Bulma said both deflated and defeated.

"Just promise me that you won't do anything stupid while I'm gone" She pleaded with her husband. While he had become softer towards her, he had become incredibly detached from the rest of the world after Trunks had met his end at the hands of the android duo. He would let millions of people die in an instant if it meant his wife would live. Old habits truly died hard.

"Tch" Vegeta sucked his teeth and looked away from her. However Bulma knew that that meant he would listen to her words.

A silent tear fell from her eyes as she realized what she had to do. She would never leave Vegeta alone and go back to the past. The machine was a prototype and she wasn't sure it would work properly, but time was running out. Her supplies of medicine were dwindling, and every time Vegeta went out to fight the androids he would come back worse for wear. Every time she saw his defeated face when he returned half dead and heavily injured, it broke her somewhat more inside. He was repeatedly going out only to be severely beaten just for the chance at saving his wife.

She didn't know how long she could hold out and allow this to keep happening. Her husband, and last fighter on Earth capable of fighting the androids was inching closer and closer to a shallow grave.

Each time she saw him return with an empty look in his eyes as he barely tumbled through the blast doors to her waiting arms was like a thorn twisting into her heart. It hurt, it hurt her so much. The helplessness she felt. The inability to save her husband and the rest of the world. Having to watch day in and day out as her husband went out to throw away his life in a desperate attempt to stop those insane androids.

-3 months later-

This was the final straw. Vegeta had made it home. Barely.

His chest had a large burned gash that was bleeding profusely. Another gash in his stomach was charred and his right arm hung limply at his side. He could barely open the blast doors as he floated in through the open blast door to their bunker.

Bulma ran over to him and caught him as he fell over in the living room. The sickening crunch of snapping bone and splattering of blood caused Bulma to throw up as her husband fell to the floor in a quickly forming puddle of blood.

"Vegeta! Say something!" Bulma shouted desperately as he fainted in her lap.

Tears formed in her eyes. Was this it? Had he really died?

She felt the panic fill her mind as she felt terror and anguish flood over her like a tsunami. Her head spun and she couldn't see properly. Her hands began shaking and her body rocked back and forth as the tears flowed and flowed.

"I'm...Not...Dead...Yet" Vegeta faintly choked out as blood spouted from his mouth.

Those words broke through her tempest of emotions.

Bulma opened her eyes wide, not caring a bit about wiping away her tears and laid Vegeta on the ground for a moment.

"Stay with me Vegeta!" She shouted, pulling him into a tight hug. However, it seemed Vegeta had slipped back into unconsciousness.

Lying him on the floor, she ran to their bedroom and opened a wall safe. In it was a small red cloth pouch. Inside of it was her deepest secret. A shriveled and nearly dried up bean. It was something she had held for all this time that she had saved from when she had asked Goku for one long ago. It was a secret that she had hidden from even Vegeta.

Gently holding the bean in her hand she made her way back to Vegeta and with some effort made him swallow it. It was old, and most likely not as effective as if it was new, but it still worked a miracle. All of his wounds closed and his jittery sleep turned into a peaceful one as Vegeta's body began a much needed recovery.

Bulma lay back on the floor next to her husband. Her mental fatigue had reached its crescendo and she needed to recover herself. Within seconds she fell into a deep sleep.

When she woke up the morning had already came and went, crossing into the afternoon of the next day.

This was it. There was no other option for her. She had to send her husband back in time. It didn't matter to her what happened to herself anymore. All of her thoughts were for her husband. He would never agree to her plan, so she would just have to do it without his consent. He would be mad at her but it was their only hope. If he went out one more time and returned back lie this again, or Kami forbid worse she would not be able to bear it anymore.

"I'm sorry" She whispered and kissed the forehead of her still deeply sleeping husband.

Getting up and walking towards her pantry and granary, she filled a large amount of capsules with food, drinks, clothes, Vegeta's armor, and many things he might need in the horrible case that the time machine malfunctioned. Best to be prepared and not need it than be underprepared and need it.

Placing the capsules in the large capsule box, she brought it to the time machine and walked up the ramp. Placing it in a secure compartment underneath the controls, she then went to her study.

Spending thirty minutes providing as much information as she could for her past self in a memory stick that she put in a separate box next to the capsule box, she then wrote out a long letter of apology to her husband letting him know how much she loved him and how she wished he could forgive her if anything went wrong on the trip back to the past.

Finally, she used all of her strength to carry Vegeta's unconscious body into the time machine and set the time to before the androids awoke with more than enough time to correct any possible errors.

When her husband was properly strapped in she set the controls to automatically launch in five minutes, allowing her to give her husband a deep hug and a kiss before she exited the time machine and watched it teleport away.

"Good luck my love" She said as she fell to her knees. Now she would have to await his return. Or in the very least hope he could live well wherever he landed.

AN: There will be no nerfs. In fact, Vegeta is much stronger than cannon future Vegeta due to his constant Zenkais.
